In a world over stretched in population and resources, the skies were meant to be the greatest beacon for innovation and freedom. The flying cities were constructed in a time of need driven by hope, and fueled by ambition. The end results; however, casted an unintentional shadow upon those still making a home below. While the world above flourished the surface where mankind originated decayed into a wasteland. This is a story of a wanderer named Wallflower, a package named Jace, and their journey to move on and confront the echoes of mankind's past. Out there the best way to solve a disagreement is with a good old fashioned bullet. Up in the skies or on the ground, it doesn't matter, one can't clean up a mess without making a bigger one first.

Captain Dirk Gallagher and his ten-man crew took their new YB-40 Escort Bomber into the teeth of the Luftwaffe in mid-1943, as part of an answer to the increased bomber losses. Assigned to the 91st Bomb Group at Alconbury, England, they soon gained a reputation and ran up an impressive tally of destroyed German aircraft. Dirk had his own war with himself, after losing his wife at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, and later losing the RAF Flight Corporal he was in love with at Biggin Hill. He met and later married RAF Flight Corporal Lorraine Smythe, remained in England after his tour ended, and raised his family on a farm. After losing his co-pilot and tail gunner on a mission into the Ruhr, he no longer wished to fly as a civilian.

Violent Melding Skies This book was written over a four-year period, during 1990 to 1994. It was written at the notorious Airlie Avenue, Prahran, Melbourne. Dream Engineering, which is a sixty-four-page book that I published originally with Minerva Press from London in 1997, is taken directly from Violet Melding Skies, which is over three hundred pages, so you will find Dream Engineering scattered throughout the book. This new book is an as-it-happened account of the nineties action. It is written day by day and unedited. You should get a sense of the story unfolding exactly how I lived it. There are real supernatural events described in this book, and I go into some detail of my realization of my higher spiritual self and my connection with the divine. The poetry has a story that runs throughout the work in a thematic fashion. You will find many different themes, and they are all written symbolically. I didnt dare publish this material in the nineties as I felt it was too intense and personal. Modern events and the coming of the fourth tetrad moon, the blood red super moon, expected on my birthday, the twenty-ninth of September, have inspired me to release this work as a sign of times.

This book will take you through the adventures of the extreme weather and skies of Kansas, through the eyes of a storm chaser who traveled there every year since the end of the twentieth century. Stunning landscapes, impressive cloud formations, strong winds, giant hail, flooding, and tornadoes were all encountered on his storm chasing endeavors in this amazing state. See the effects of three air masses--dry air from the Desert Southwest, warm moist air from the Gulf of Mexico states to the southeast, and cold air from Canada to the north--converge on a state that is in the center stage of "Tornado Alley," causing some of the most interesting and bizarre weather unlike anywhere else on Earth.

These Dark Skies written by Arianne Zwartjes and has been published by University of Iowa Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-06-15 with Literary Collections categories.

In These Dark Skies, Arianne Zwartjes interweaves the experience of living in the southern Netherlands—with her wife, who is Russian—and the unfolding of both the refugee crisis across Europe and the uptick in terrorist acts in France, Greece, Austria, Germany, and the Balkans. She probes her own subjectivity, as a white American, as a queer woman in a transcultural marriage, as a writer, and as a witness. The essays investigate and meditate on a broad array of related topics, including drone strikes, tear gas, and military intervention; the sugar trade, the Dutch blackface celebration of Zwarte Piet, and constructions of whiteness in Europe and the U.S.; and visual arts of Russian avant-garde painters, an Iraqi choreographer living in Belgium, and German choreographer Pina Bausch. This is a lyrical, timely book deeply salient to the political moment we continue to find ourselves in: a moment of incredible anti-refugee and anti-immigrant sentiment, a moment of xenophobic and misogynistic violence.
