L’ampliació de l’aeroport Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-el Prat (d’ara endavant, aeroport del Prat) proposada per AENA el 2021 ha suscitat un ampli debat des de diferents punts de vista per les seves implicacions econòmiques, socials i ambientals, així com pels condicionants tècnics i estratègics. AENA ha elaborat un projecte atenent les necessitats de l’aeroport vist des de la perspectiva de la seva explotació dins una gestió global per a tot l’Estat, del qual es desconeixen tots els detalls. La manca d’un debat previ a Catalunya ha suscitat una forta controvèrsia, moltes vegades condicionada per apriorismes en un costat o l’altre. És per això que des de l’Institut d’Estudis Catalans (IEC) s’ha considerat que podria resultar útil aportar un document amb una visió global sobre aquesta ampliació, elaborat a partir del coneixement d’experts de diferents àrees, havent procurat que les dades considerades hagin estat recollides de manera rigorosa i al més completament possible. Aquest informe ha estat elaborat a partir de les sessions de treball temàtiques mantingudes amb diferents experts dels àmbits de la mobilitat i el transport, de la gestió aeroportuària, de l’economia i del medi natural, membres de l’IEC i d’altres sectors acadèmics i professionals. També s’han consultat informes recents elaborats per diverses institucions i organismes, documents tècnics, legislació i tractats internacionals. Una primera versió del document va ser aprovada en la sessió ordinària del 4 d’abril de 2022 de la Secció de Ciències i Tecnologia, i la seva difusió va ser comunicada a la sessió plenària de l’IEC celebrada el dia 11 de maig de 2022 i l’informe final presentat a la sessió del 15 de juny.

On October 14-19, 1990, the 6th International Conference on the Conservation of Earthen Architecture was held in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Sponsored by the GCI, the Museum of New Mexico State Monuments, ICCROM, CRATerre-EAG, and the National Park Service, under the aegis of US/ICOMOS, the event was organized to promote the exchange of ideas, techniques, and research findings on the conservation of earthen architecture. Presentations at the conference covered a diversity of subjects, including the historic traditions of earthen architecture, conservation and restoration, site preservation, studies in consolidation and seismic mitigation, and examinations of moisture problems, clay chemistry, and microstructures. In discussions that focused on the future, the application of modern technologies and materials to site conservation was urged, as was using scientific knowledge of existing structures in the creation of new, low-cost, earthen architecture housing.

As a fast-evolving new area, RFID security and privacy has quickly grown from a hungry infant to an energetic teenager during recent years. Much of the exciting development in this area is summarized in this book with rigorous analyses and insightful comments. In particular, a systematic overview on RFID security and privacy is provided at both the physical and network level.
