Diese werkgeschichtliche Analyse stützt sich über den Originaltext und zeitgenössische Kommentare hinaus auch auf die erstmals 2004 veröffentlichten Tagebücher Fechners, aus denen der persönliche Zugang des Autors zu seinem Forschungsgegenstand ersichtlich wird.
