Die vorliegende Studie beschäftigt sich mit dem Thema der Mehrsprachigkeit in früher Kindheit und versucht, institutionelle Möglichkeiten und praktische Empfehlungen am Beispiel Hamburgs aufzuzeigen. Mehrere Sprachen zu beherrschen, ist eine wertvolle Fähigkeit in einem vereinigten Europa. Dabei bietet eine mehrsprachige Erziehung im frühen Kindesalter den Eltern die Chance, ihren Kindern diese Fähigkeit effektiv und erfolgreich zu vermitteln. Die Debatte um die Mehrsprachigkeit in der frühen Kindheit wird hierbei nicht nur von PädagogInnen sowie Erziehungswissenschaftlern/innen geführt, sondern neben Vertretern der Psychologie, Linguistik und Hirnforschung ebenfalls von Politikern. Im Rahmen dieser Studie wird diesbezüglich den Fragen nachgegangen, was unter dem Begriff „Mehrsprachigkeit“ genau zu verstehen ist und wie diese gefördert wird. Ferner wird untersucht, inwiefern es sinnvoll ist, Kinder schon vor dem Schuleintritt parallel mit mehreren Sprachen zu konfrontieren und welche Regeln Eltern beachten sollten, damit ihr Kind effektiv parallel mehrere Sprachen lernen kann.

Ist es sinnvoll, Kinder schon vor dem Schuleintritt parallel mit mehreren Sprachen zu konfrontieren, zu einem Zeitpunkt, da sie noch dem Erwerb ihrer Muttersprache nachgehen? Welche Regeln sollen Eltern beachten, damit ihr Kind effektiv parallel mehrere Sprachen lernen kann? Dabei wird auch der Frage nachgegangen, ob die Leichtigkeit, mit der Kinder in diesem Alter parallel mehrere Sprachen intuitiv und spielerisch lernen, moglicherweise uberschatzt wird. Die vorliegende Diplomarbeit soll eine umfassende Ubersicht uber Mehrsprachigkeit, Sprachfordermodelle und praktische Empfehlungen sowie institutionelle Moglichkeiten am Beispiel der Stadt Hamburg aufzeigen. Weiterhin wird die emotionale und kognitive Disposition des Kindes in Bezug auf lerntheoretische Aspekte beleuchtet. Aus diesen Erkenntnissen leiten sich Rahmenbedingungen und didaktische Prinzipien ab, die bei der Planung jedes Sprachenangebotes als konkrete Empfehlungen in authentischen Kommunikationssituationen uber die kindgerechte Lernform Spiel" dienen konnen. Der Schwerpunkt dieser Diplomarbeitarbeit liegt daher auf Empfehlungen, welche der Zielgruppe eine weitere Sprache kindgerecht, anschaulich, spielerisch, multisensorisch und ganzheitlich naher bringen und einen positiven Erstkontakt zu weiteren Sprache vermitteln. Traditionally, teachers of majority languages receive less training to teach a language as a second language or to develop the plurilingual repertoire of their learners than, for example, foreign language teachers. Yet, in today's societies, learners bring many different languages to school. This means that the teaching of the majority language has to extend beyond teaching it as a first language and adopt elements of second language teaching. This publication aims to encourage teachers to become agents of reform for the promotion of plurilingualism in majority language teaching. The range of proposed actions includes small-scale activities, such as planning a lesson relating to a specific aspect of grammar which incorporates all languages spoken in the classroom. More comprehensive strategic approaches proposed in the materials involve head teachers or parents.
