Este livro conta as histórias de 2000 quilômetros de caminhadas ao longo de sete anos pela cidade de Curitiba, capital do estado do Paraná na região sul do Brasil. É Curitiba, mas serve para qualquer lugar. As caminhadas foram por 41 bairros dos 75 que a cidade tem. Tudo que foi visto foi fotografado, gerando um acervo de 50 mil imagens. Depois de uma árdua tarefa, selecionei 2000 fotos e tratei com arte digital. Dessas imagens, 895 estão publicadas neste livro ilustrando o texto.Levei sete anos para chegar até aqui. Foi um processo bem longo de escrever e de retratar uma cidade. Já passei da metade e vou fazer ela inteira. Eu quero ver o que mais ela tem para mostrar, o que ela esconde e o que mais vou aprender. Falo em aprender, porque as minhas caminhadas me ensinaram muito. Não só como a cidade é, mas como ela é tratada pelos prefeitos, que se revezam em mandatos de quatro ou oito anos e adotam posturas bem diferentes na administração do município. Aprendi que todas as artes de rua têm um significado, seja o grafite pintado no muro autorizado, seja o picho estudado, pensado e colocado, com risco de vida, no andar mais alto daquele prédio ou em qualquer lugar abandonado, ou não. É o grito da periferia da cidade que também lhe pertence.Aprendi que educar o cidadão é ensinar cidadania a ele, e na periferia isso quase não existe. E não é por culpa deles, é por culpa da gestão, ou falta de gestão. Aprendi que não existem casas velhas, que elas são documentos da nossa história. Que uma rua estreita sempre tem um significado. Que passear em shoppings é enjoativo, o maravilhoso é passear na rua. E vou seguir por mais alguns anos vendo se a cultura da cidade vai mudar, se vão implantar mecanismos para imóveis abandonados, porque isso é um problema cultural. É uma agressão à paisagem e à história da cidade e poucos pensam assim. A educação e a cultura são tudo. Se não mudarem as cabeças, a sociedade não vai mudar e a cidade vai se deteriorar mais. Essa mudança só vai acontecer se houver primeiro uma compreensão das pessoas para depois agir e transformar. Não pode ter aí nem um pouco de egoísmo. Tem que ser uma causa, e grande, e abraçar com um grande abraço a cidade toda. Nas minhas caminhadas pela cidade, eu fiz a observação do outro e do que muitas pessoas não veem. Eu vi a cidade como gente, com vida mesmo nas partes mortas, e que ela fala, grita, ri, chora e pede socorro. Enfim, é um livro para se pensar uma cidade, as suas memórias, seus erros e acertos, uma mistura de tudo, de memórias e de ciências humanas. Não é um complemento do livro VOU DEIXAR A RUA ME LEVAR. É uma versão em preto e branco e com menos imagens, porém o mesmo texto.
