Nabu, un «percusionista» que se escuda en su obligación de cumplir órdenes, fue designado como el salvador de la familia Aballay, a quien estos deben aceptar de buen grado para evitar represalias. Cuando les prohíbe la comunicación entre los propios miembros de la familia, los Aballay se ven forzados a crear un código secreto de sonidos, señas y gestos para lograr sobrevivir a los castigos físicos y psicológicos. Daniel Moyano comenzó a escribir esta historia en Argentina los días previos al golpe de Estado de 1976, en un clima de violencia estatal y represión política; pero ese primer borrador nunca vio la luz: fue enterrado en el fondo de su casa, y la novela, reescrita en Madrid, algunos años después, durante su exilio. De gran riqueza poética, «El vuelo del tigre» es una clara alegoría de los regímenes dictatoriales latinoamericanos. Daniel Moyano (1930-1992) fue un escritor argentino. Nacido en Buenos Aires y criado en Córdoba, se radicó más tarde en La Rioja donde trabajó como profesor de música, periodista y concibió gran parte de su obra. Detenido y encarcelado durante la dictadura militar de 1976-1983, tras ser liberado se exilió en España y allí residió hasta su muerte.
