Er lässt nicht nur die beliebten Highlights rund um die oberösterreichische Landeshauptstadt im Einzugsgebiet der mächtigen Donau und ihrer Nebenflüsse Traun und Enns sowie der Steyr erkunden, sondern führt auch in ruhige und oftmals selbst bei Einheimischen unbekannte Ecken. Die Stadt selbst punktet mit viel Grün: Parks, Naturschutzgebiete, der Pöstlingsberg hoch über Linz und natürlich die Donau, die mitten durch das Zentrum fließt, bieten viele herrliche Wandermöglichkeiten direkt vor der Haustür. Die 67 Wanderungen, die der Rother Wanderführer »Rund um Linz« vorstellt, sind alle mit dem ÖPNV bei einer maximalen Anfahrtszeit von etwa einer Stunde erreichbar. Sämtliche Touren sind zu jeder Jahreszeit möglich und bieten immer neue reizvolle Ausflugsziele. Sie verlaufen auf gut instand gehaltenen Pfaden und Feld- und Waldwegen und sind alle eher einfach. Jede Wanderung wird mit allen wichtigen Angaben, zuverlässigen Wegbeschreibungen, Karten mit eingezeichnetem Routenverlauf und aussagekräftigen Höhenprofilen vorgestellt.
