Conventional Warhead Systems Physics And Engineering Design written by Richard M. Lloyd and has been published by AIAA (American Institute of Aeronautics & Astronautics) this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1998 with Fiction categories.

This is the first book written that discusses the physics of designing warheads against ballistic missiles. In his exploration of the mathematical equations and logic behind antiballistic missiles (ATBMs) warhead design, Lloyd takes an in-depth look at warhead design and endgame concepts against ATBMs. Hailed as the perfect companion to Tactical Missile Warheads, the book demonstrates the system aspects you will need as a systems warhead engineer designing complex tactical and defense warheads under tight budgetary constraints. Conventional Warhead Systems Physics and Engineering Design features a previously unpublished investigation of energy, momentum, and methods for estimating damage on very complex ballistic missile payloads, such as submunitions of chemical and biological nature. Direct hit, warhead design, and fragmentation are comprehensively discussed for the first time in print. High strain rate, explosives, thermodynamics, heat transfer, chemistry, penetration mechanics, statistics, dynamics, and finite element equations are also covered extensively in this single, compact volume. The book contains over 2000 mathematical equations with more than 500 figures that give todays warhead engineers new ideas and knowledge in warhead design. Physics Of Direct Hit And Near Miss Warhead Technology written by Richard M. Lloyd and has been published by AIAA (American Institute of Aeronautics & Astronautics) this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2001 with History categories.

This book discusses direct hit technology in conjunction with a new class of warheads coined "near miss or direct hit warhead technology." These warheads utilize most of their entire volume and mass as damage mechanisms generating 10-30 times more mass deployed in the target's direction when compared with today's warheads. Most missiles and kill vehicles of today are direct hit only and do not contain a warhead mechanism. This book discusses the challenges of designing small lethality enhancement technologies that can be implemented on a direct hit kill vehicle. What makes anti-ballistic missile warhead design so difficult is that a designer must be able to design a warhead against many different tactical ballistic missile payloads. These payloads can vary from chemical submunitions to unitary high explosive to nuclear. More than 300 four-color illustrations graphically represent the trades that warhead designers perform in order to optimize hit to kill lethality.

Terminal Ballistics written by Zvi Rosenberg and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-03-02 with Technology & Engineering categories.

This monograph covers all important issues of terminal ballistics in a comprehensive way combining experimental data, numerical simulations and analytical modeling. It uses a unique approach to numerical simulations as sensitivity measure for the major physical parameters. In the first chapter, the book includes necessary details about the experimental equipment which are used for ballistic tests. The second chapter covers essential features of the codes which are used in recent years all over the world, the Euler vs. Lagrange schemes, meshing techniques etc. The third chapter, devoted to the penetration mechanics of rigid rods, brings the update of modeling in this field. The fourth chapter deals with plate perforation and the fifth chapter deals with the penetration of shaped charge jets and eroding long rods. The last chapter includes several techniques for the disruption and defeating of the main threats in armor design. Throughout the book the authors demonstrate the advantages of the simulation approach in understanding the basis physics behind the investigated phenomena.

By marrying warhead fundamentals with more modern design approaches, this book will assist new members of the warhead community to learn more rapidly, as well as provide a reference text for those working actively in the field. The books chapters are each self-contained articles; however, the topics are linked and may be divided into three groups. The first group provides a broad introduction, as well as four fundamental technology areas, namely, explosives, dynamic characterization of materials, explosive-metal interaction physics, and hydrocodes. The second group presents the mechanics of three major types of warheads, shaped charges, explosively formed projectiles, and fragmentation warheads. The interaction with various types of targets is also presented. The third group addresses test methodology. Flash radiography and high-speed photography are covered extensively, especially from an applications point of view. Special methods are also presented, including the use of tomographic reconstruction of flash radiographs and the use of laser interferometry. The book is intended for warhead designers, as well as engineering managers and project managers who manage warhead, munitions, and missile development projects.
