This book is about worship. It's about how absolutely important worship is and how, perhaps, it is the highest calling and occupation of the believer. But it's not about excellence of musicianship in played and sung worship. It's not about personalities or individuals, or specially gifted folks, or style, or technique. It's not a 'how to' book, or a work book, or a 'here's a service schedule that's bound to work' type book. It's about how God calls us all to be His worshippers and how, perhaps, every single one of us can, through a deeper understanding of worship, make an impact and a difference in the society in which we live.

This collection is the experience-the knowledge of those who have trained for, and more often than not engaged in war to bring it back to us so that we may indulge ourselves vicariously in war's brutal consequence. We should not diminish their valued contributions by referring to them simply as, warrior poets. Sure, they are that rare and ambiguous blend of strength and intellect, emotional connection and steadfast resolve, deserving of the title, but this is more specifically a collection of Poet-Warriors: individuals with the unique ability to deliver first hand the experience of war using the art of poetry. They are a great benefit to our society, our history, and the understanding of ourselves.

He served from the age of fifteen up to the age of thirty-two with the Parachute Regiment, the SAS, the Sultans of Oman's Armed Forces, the Army of Sri Lanka and was a Major in 'Frelimo' the Army of Mozambique. He studied Karate for most of his adult life achieving the rank of 6th Dan Black Belt until 2011 when a neck fracture changed his life. During his recovery he went to Surrey University (something that would have astonished his parents and school teachers) and studied English literature with creative writing. He graduated in 2016. Poems of love and battle by Arabia’s legendary warrior From the sixth-century highlands of Najd in the Arabian peninsula, on the eve of the advent of Islam, come the strident cries of a legendary warrior and poet. The black outcast son of an Arab father and an Ethiopian slave mother, 'Antarah ibn Shaddad struggled to win the recognition of his father and tribe. He defied social norms and, despite his outcast status, loyally defended his people. 'Antarah captured his tumultuous life in uncompromising poetry that combines flashes of tenderness with blood-curdling violence. His war songs are testaments to his life-long battle to win the recognition of his people and the hand of 'Ablah, the free-born woman he loved but who was denied him by her family. War Songs presents the poetry attributed to 'Antarah and includes a selection of poems taken from the later Epic of 'Antar, a popular story-cycle that continues to captivate and charm Arab audiences to this day with tales of its hero’s titanic feats of strength and endurance. 'Antarah’s voice resonates here, for the first time in vibrant, contemporary English, intoning its eternal truths: commitment to one’s beliefs, loyalty to kith and kin, and fidelity in love.

Between the years 1942 and 1945, scores of American men and women in the military wrote, submitted, and published poems during the war. They were known as the "War Poets." They were stationed at military bases and camps around the world, and their literary contributions have been almost lost or inaccessible for over seventy years. Songs of the Warriors also known as the War Poems Project, was an attempt to recover, compile, rediscover, re-appreciate, and re-enjoy these national literary treasures. This literary archaeology represents the war poets' deepest experiences: love, joy, death, loneliness, boredom, depression, humor, and frustration while they were on active duty in violent combat zones or remote bases around the world. A collection of poems written by military personnel during World War II and re-presented in the twenty-first century, Songs of the Warriors, is a treasure, revealing our brave soldier's thoughts, and dreams about war, death, living conditions, loved ones, the military, and their homes back in the United States.
