Electromagnetic Theory And Applications In Beam Wave Electronics written by B. N. Basu and has been published by World Scientific this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1996 with Technology & Engineering categories.

This book is divided into two parts. The first part deals with basic electromagnetic and the second part with beam-wave electronics related to growing-wave devices including 'slow-wave' travelling-wave tubes and 'fast-wave' gyro-travelling-wave tubes. The first part is a prerequisite for the second part, while the second part covers the applications of the topics discussed in the first part. These two parts put together make the volume a self-contained treatise. In the specific applications considered, time-independent field concepts are exemplified in the problems related to the formation of an electron beam by an electron gun, the confinement of an electron beam by a magnetic focusing structure, etc. Similarly, time-dependent field concepts are exemplified in problems related to propagation through a slow-wave structure and amplification in growing-wave electron beam devices, such as travelling-wave tubes, double-stream amplifiers, beam-plasma amplifiers and gyro-travelling-wave tubes. All throughout the text, stress is given to provide complete analytical deductions with full mathematical details and present the state-of-the-art concepts.

Nonlinear Electron Wave Interaction Phenomena written by Joseph E. Rowe and has been published by Academic Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-10-22 with Technology & Engineering categories.

Nonlinear Electron-Wave Interaction Phenomena explores the interaction between drifting streams of charged particles and propagating electromagnetic waves. Of particular concern are the situations in which the wave amplitude is large and there is strong coupling between the charged fluid and the wave. Emphasis is placed on those devices that utilize a defined injected stream of some type. Particle and electromagnetic wave velocities both small and comparable to the velocity of light are considered. Comprised of 16 chapters, this book begins with an introduction to the various classes of devices in which the drifting stream (charged fluid) is composed of electrons and/or ions coupled to a slow electromagnetic wave over an extended region. The discussion then turns to Eulerian versus Lagrangian formulation and radio-frequency equivalent circuits, along with space-charge-field expressions. Subsequent chapters focus on the interaction mechanisms in klystrons, traveling-wave amplifiers, and O-type backward-wave oscillators, as well as crossed-field forward- and backward-wave amplifiers, and traveling-wave energy converters. The book also evaluates multibeam and beam-plasma interactions; phase focusing of electron bunches; pre-bunched electron beams; collector depression techniques; and modulation characteristics. This monograph is designed to serve both as a research monograph for workers in the fields of microwave electron and plasma devices and as a text for advanced graduate students.

Electronics and Instrumentation, Volume 36: Basic Matrix Analysis and Synthesis presents the application of matrix methods to practical electronics problems. This book focuses on transistor applications. Organized into three parts, this volume begins with an overview of the fundamental theory of twoports and explains the mechanisms of matrix and determinant operations with applications to the study of twoport networks, both active and passive. This text then explains the concept of impedance transformation and image matching in the different matrix domains. This book presents as well the analysis and synthesis of active networks. The final part deals with the mathematical model concepts of transistors and vacuum tubes that are freely applied to a wide range of problems with an emphasis on practical applications such as conventional amplifiers, single-, and multi-stage transistor feedback amplifiers and oscillators. This book is a valuable resource for electronics engineers as well as for students with some grounding in mathematics and network theory.

Statistical Theory of Signal Detection, Second Edition provides an elementary introduction to the theory of statistical testing of hypotheses that is related to the detection of signals in radar and communications technology. This book presents a comprehensive survey of digital communication systems. Organized into 11 chapters, this edition begins with an overview of the theory of signal detection and the typical detection problem. This text then examines the goals of the detection system, which are defined through an analogy with the testing of statistical hypotheses. Other chapters consider the noise fluctuations in terms of probability distributions whereby the statistical information is used to design a receiver that attains the maximum rate of successful detections in a long series of trials. This book discusses as well the criteria of success and failure in statistical situations. The final chapter deals with the types of stochastic signals. This book is a valuable resource for mathematicians and engineers.

From an engineering perspective, Electrodynamics is the province of two cul tures. The most easily identified of the two is primarily concerned with phe nomena in which the propagation of electromagnetic waves is crucial. Includ ed are the designers of microwave circuits, of antennae and of many-wave length communication channels. The interests of the second group focus on dynamical processes associated with the evolution of field sources, whether these be electrons and holes migrating in a semiconductor, or currents diffus ing in a moving metal. Because the second culture is primarily concerned with the interaction be tween electromagnetic fields and media, where the latter are often responsible for the dominant dynamical processes, it addresses applications that are more widely ranging. A few from a very long list would include electrostatic print ing, rotating machines, power transmission apparatus, the electromagnetics of biological systems and physical electronics. Whether by nature or by de sign, the phenomena of interest are generally electro quasi static or magneto quasistatic in this second branch of electrodynamics. It is tempting to say that the two branches of electrodynamics can be distinguished by the frequency range, but electron-beam and microwave-magnetic devices, with their respec tive plasma oscillations and spin waves, are examples where the frequencies can be in the GHz range while the fundamental interactions are quasistatic. By design, so also are those that determine the frequency response of a transistor.

Electronics and Instrumentation, Volume 16: Fundamentals of Microwave Electronics provides an understanding of the phenomena that occur in the physics and technology of microwave electron devices. This book presents a systematic examination of the physical processes that take place in microwave electron devices. Organized into three parts encompassing seven chapters, this volume begins with an overview of oscillatory systems used in microwave electron devices. This text then explains the two fundamental methods of producing density modulation of an electron beam. Other chapters consider the energy exchange between an electron beam and an alternating electric field, which is associated with a change in electron kinetic energy. This book discusses as well the basic operational principles of the various microwave electron devices. The final chapter deals with microwave devices with resonator or delay line circuits. This book is a valuable resource for light electrical engineers. Students specializing in the microwave field will also find this book useful.
