Wavelet Methods For Elliptic Partial Differential Equations written by Karsten Urban and has been published by OUP Oxford this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008-11-27 with Mathematics categories.

The origins of wavelets go back to the beginning of the last century and wavelet methods are by now a well-known tool in image processing (jpeg2000). These functions have, however, been used successfully in other areas, such as elliptic partial differential equations, which can be used to model many processes in science and engineering. This book, based on the author's course and accessible to those with basic knowledge of analysis and numerical mathematics, gives an introduction to wavelet methods in general and then describes their application for the numerical solution of elliptic partial differential equations. Recently developed adaptive methods are also covered and each scheme is complemented with numerical results, exercises, and corresponding software tools.

Numerical Approximation Methods For Elliptic Boundary Value Problems written by Olaf Steinbach and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007-11-26 with Mathematics categories.

This book presents a unified theory of the Finite Element Method and the Boundary Element Method for a numerical solution of second order elliptic boundary value problems. This includes the solvability, stability, and error analysis as well as efficient methods to solve the resulting linear systems. Applications are the potential equation, the system of linear elastostatics and the Stokes system. While there are textbooks on the finite element method, this is one of the first books on Theory of Boundary Element Methods. It is suitable for self study and exercises are included.

Most existing books on wavelets are either too mathematical or they focus on too narrow a specialty. This book provides a thorough treatment of the subject from an engineering point of view. It is a one-stop source of theory, algorithms, applications, and computer codes related to wavelets. This second edition has been updated by the addition of: a section on "Other Wavelets" that describes curvelets, ridgelets, lifting wavelets, etc a section on lifting algorithms Sections on Edge Detection and Geophysical Applications Section on Multiresolution Time Domain Method (MRTD) and on Inverse problems

Sparse grids have gained increasing interest in recent years for the numerical treatment of high-dimensional problems. Whereas classical numerical discretization schemes fail in more than three or four dimensions, sparse grids make it possible to overcome the “curse” of dimensionality to some degree, extending the number of dimensions that can be dealt with. This volume of LNCSE collects the papers from the proceedings of the second workshop on sparse grids and applications, demonstrating once again the importance of this numerical discretization scheme. The selected articles present recent advances on the numerical analysis of sparse grids as well as efficient data structures, and the range of applications extends to uncertainty quantification settings and clustering, to name but a few examples.

Wavelet Applications In Engineering Electromagnetics written by Tapan K. Sarkar and has been published by Artech House this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2002 with Technology & Engineering categories.

Written from an engineering perspective, this unique resource describes the practical application of wavelets to the solution of electromagnetic field problems and in signal analysis with an even-handed treatment of the pros and cons. A key feature of this book is that the wavelet concepts have been described from the filter theory point of view that is familiar to researchers with an electrical engineering background. The book shows you how to design novel algorithms that enable you to solve electrically, large electromagnetic field problems using modest computational resources. It also provides you with new ideas in the design and development of unique waveforms for reliable target identification and practical radar signal analysis. The book includes more then 500 equations, and covers a wide range of topics, from numerical methods to signal processing aspects.

Geometric Modeling And Reasoning Of Human Centered Freeform Products written by Charlie C. L. Wang and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-08-11 with Technology & Engineering categories.

The recent trend in user-customized product design requires the shape of products to be automatically adjusted according to the human body’s shape, so that people will feel more comfortable when wearing these products. Geometric approaches can be used to design the freeform shape of products worn by people, which can greatly improve the efficiency of design processes in various industries involving customized products (e.g., garment design, toy design, jewel design, shoe design, and design of medical devices, etc.). These products are usually composed of very complex geometric shapes (represented by free-form surfaces), and are not driven by a parameter table but a digital human model with free-form shapes or part of human bodies (e.g., wrist, foot, and head models). Geometric Modeling and Reasoning of Human-Centered Freeform Products introduces the algorithms of human body reconstruction, freeform product modeling, constraining and reconstructing freeform products, and shape optimization for improving the manufacturability of freeform products. Based on these techniques, the design automation problem for human-centered freeform products can be fundamentally solved. Researchers and developers working on problems of automatic designing individually customized products can use this book as a reference, and it can also be used in courses in computer-aided product design at the graduate level.

Shapes And Diffeomorphisms written by Laurent Younes and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010-05-17 with Mathematics categories.

Shapes are complex objects to apprehend, as mathematical entities, in terms that also are suitable for computerized analysis and interpretation. This volume provides the background that is required for this purpose, including different approaches that can be used to model shapes, and algorithms that are available to analyze them. It explores, in particular, the interesting connections between shapes and the objects that naturally act on them, diffeomorphisms. The book is, as far as possible, self-contained, with an appendix that describes a series of classical topics in mathematics (Hilbert spaces, differential equations, Riemannian manifolds) and sections that represent the state of the art in the analysis of shapes and their deformations. A direct application of what is presented in the book is a branch of the computerized analysis of medical images, called computational anatomy.
