Do you feel down, depressed, or hopeless? Have you lost interest or pleasure in doing things? Do you know someone who might be depressed and want to help? Are you a Christian healer—health care provider, counselor, or clergy - and want to expand your knowledge base on depression? If you answer yes to any of these questions, this book may be of help to you. As a Christian family physician and educator for forty-three years and with seminary training, I have found that treating the whole person with clinical depression is the most likely way to be healed from this dreadful illness. There are now many real helps for those with clinical depression from the medical (including psychiatric), counseling, and pastoral care professions, especially from the Bible itself. I have suffered from seven clinical depressions, and most of my siblings and children have experienced at least one clinical depression—so I know what the issues are that face those of us who are depressed. I have also included real life examples of Christians who have suffered from depression, including me, as well as helpful quotations from Scripture and special prayers for those who are depressed.

Broken: Returning in Desperation to the Cross encourages Christian readers to recall and recapture the powerful desperation of the day of their justification. “Pastor Matty is an excellent and dynamic gospel preacher with a strong Bible teacher in him. I cannot call him a Bible teacher because he preaches so strongly, yet I cannot neglect the Bible-teaching gift that is so overwhelming. Some of us have encouraged him to put his sermons into written form so they can be preserved and distributed. This book does just that. What you read here is fuel for revival and awakening, a no-nonsense call to live true to the Gospel and look deep in the heart. At the same time, you will come to know his upbeat personality that comes through regardless of walking through some very rocky and rough spots.” Dr. Lon Chenowith Director of Missions and Associational Missionary Sandy Run Baptist Association, NC “My friend and colleague, Pastor Matty, has a unique story to tell. After wandering aimlessly in a fog of his own making, God, through Christ, finally broke his will. Now this ‘new creation’ has a message of brokenness from which all believers can benefit.” Jerry Fugate Pastor, Friendship Baptist Church Elkin, NC

From A Drunkard To A Pastor written by Jim Moreland and has been published by WestBow Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-04-24 with Religion categories.

From a Drunkard to a Pastor is the story about how Jesus Christ can take a lost soul drowning in alcohol and drugs and transform that person into a vessel worthy to be used by God to reach the lost for Christ. This book also describes areas in the Christians life where a Christian needs to work toward completeness in Christ (spiritual maturity). The author describes in detail the struggles he went through trying to find answers to the question, “how in the world did I get so far from God?” He writes of God’s love for mankind and the extremes God went through to restore mankind to fellowship with him. The author speaks of his depravity in hope that it will convey the message to others that no matter how far you have fallen and no matter how hopeless life may seem that God is able to reach down from heaven and put you on a path to recovery and a new hope. The common theme throughout this book is the necessity to grow in your walk with Christ, and this is a how-to book to accomplish that based on the author’s own experience. The book gives practices and insights on what helped the author in his quest to be more like Jesus. Christians are called to be like Jesus, and that calling does not come easy. It takes hard work, commitment, love for Christ, and love for our fellow human beings. This book guides you on a path that will help you reach spiritual maturity.

It all became too much for her to cope with so in January just after Christmas Sandra experienced her first breakdown. That first experience of psychosis was very confusing; she could no longer trust her own thoughts. When Sandra was released from hospital she decided to train as a Citizen's Advice Worker, she needed just to prove to herself that she had value. Everything went well and Sandra qualified as an advice worker. Then things took a turn for the worse her family found it hard to come to terms with her illness. She fought hard to get her head back together and joined the Labour Party. In 2000 Sandra was elected a local councillor for St Helens. She could finally hold her head up at last. As Chair of Health and Social Care scrutiny Committee Sandra was the first person to give written evidence against the Draft Mental Health Bill in 2004 when it was going through Parliament. Campaigning on mental health issues is something that she continues to do even though no longer a councillor.Sandra came out in the local press about the problems facing service users and as a local councillor with mental health problems she also wrote an article for the Guardian newspaper on the subject of her Mental Health. Sandra was reunited with her family Mum and Dad were very proud and old wounds healed.
