From the Introduction: "Over the past several years, I have been keeping a video log of my thoughts on Relativity and Geocentricity. For the most part, they are a continuation of, a further development of, and an elaboration upon, ideas presented in my book Death to Einstein! I have now amassed a hundred or more hours of video, and have begun the laborious process of transcribing them. So the present volume represents the first batch of such transcripts." Written in the non-traditional, humorous, and slightly irreverent tone of books like Sit Down and Shut Up, and Dharma Punxs, Wonderlandis a highly original riff on Alice in Wonderland, using the classic story as a jumping off point for conveying the Zen concept of ‘One Mind’. Daniel Silberberg’s first book is a unique contribution to contemporary American Zen, which honors its historic roots and yet strikes out into fresh areas. It presents a lively mix of tone and quotation and levels of discourse, from citing Timeless Spring or the Diamond Sutra to Kill Bill and ketchup. With stories from his own life as well as from the larger cultural swirl around him, Daniel Silberberg reflects on the differences between how we perceive the world around us and the way it actually is. Daniel Silberberg’s take on a variety of Buddhist ideas and concepts are immediately useful and relevant. The reader will find that it addresses directly some of the issues they are dealing with in their own practice. The author’s insights and experiences come from his experience leading a large Zen community and from his almost thirty years of Zen Training in the lineage of the highly revered teachers Genpo Roshi and Maezumi Roshi.

Psychology: A Behavioral Overview is an introductory text with an orienting per spective that is frankly behavioral rather than eclectic. This focus is made quite clear in the first chapter of the book, but in the remainder it also becomes clear that such a focus permits coverage of most of the topics found in the more common introductory text. Actually, the next five chapters (dealing with psy chology as a scienc~, methodology, evolution, physiology, and learning) are in many ways comparable to the treatments provided in more eclectic introductory texts. The behavioral focus and the departure from traditional approaches be come most significant in the last six chapters which deal with traditional psycho logical topics (e. g. , language, child development, and personality)-but deal with them systematically in terms of the concepts and principles introduced in the chapters on evolution and physiology, and especially in the chapter on learning. Using the concepts provided early in the text to interpret complex aspects of human behavior provides valuable justification for those concepts, as well as an opportunity for improved understanding of them. Although students will not make extensive contact with the variety of the oretical approaches found in the typical text, they will become especially compe tent in the use of behavioral concepts and principles to interpret and understand many of the topics of traditional importance in psychology.

Conversations With Madeleine L Engle written by Jackie C. Horne and has been published by Univ. Press of Mississippi this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-12-03 with Biography & Autobiography categories.

Conversations with Madeleine L’Engle is the first collection of interviews with the beloved children’s book author best known for her 1962 Newbery Award–winning novel, A Wrinkle in Time. However, Madeleine L’Engle's accomplishments as a writer spread far beyond children’s literature. Beginning her career as a literary novelist for adults, L’Engle (1918–2007) continued to write fiction for both young and old long after A Wrinkle in Time. In her sixties, she published personal memoirs and devotional texts that explored her relationship with religion. At the time of her death, L’Engle was mourned by fans of her children’s books and the larger Christian community. L’Engle’s books, as well as her life, were often marked by contradictions. A consummate storyteller, L’Engle carefully crafted and performed a public self-image via her interviews. Weaving through the documentable facts in these interviews are partial lies, misdirections, and wish-fulfillment fantasies. But, when read against her fictions, these “truths” can help us see L’Engle more deeply—what she wanted for herself and for her children, what she believed about good and evil, and what she thought was the right way and the wrong way to be a family—than if she had been able to articulate the truth more directly. The thirteen interviews collected here reveal an amazing feat of authorial self-fashioning, as L’Engle transformed from novelist to children’s author to Christian writer and attempted to craft a public persona that would speak to each of these different audiences in meaningful, yet not painfully revealing, ways.

Creation – Big Bang – Science Fiction or Science Madness The debate between creationism and scientific theories of the origin of the universe has been an ongoing and contentious one. On one side, we have the belief in a divine Creator who is responsible for the creation of the world in six days, as described in the Bible. On the other side, we have scientific theories such as the Big Bang, which posits that the universe began with a massive explosion around 13.8 billion years ago. For those who adhere to the belief in a Creator, the concept of a six-day creation holds immense significance. This belief is rooted in faith and is a fundamental tenet of many religious traditions. The idea that a higher power carefully constructed the universe, day by day, is a source of comfort and meaning for many people. Some may argue that the Big Bang theory is nothing more than science fiction or science madness, dismissing it as a fanciful and unsubstantiated idea.

Let Us Be What We Are: The Joys and Challenges of Living the Little Way offers a glimpse into the life of a Christian disciple facing his own mortality and reflecting on holiness, family, and the saints. This final work from Clarence Enzler, author of the multi-million-selling Everyone’s Way of the Cross, explores the themes first introduced in Enzler's bestseller My Other Self. First published in 1978, Let Us Be What We Are explores the Christian life as seen through a personal, intimate, one-on-one conversation with Jesus. Enzler reveals to readers his own conversations with Jesus as he faces serious illness and contemplates his life as a father, deacon, writer, and disciple. He draws readers into his devotion to the “Little Way” of St. Thérèse, explaining how this practice helped him offer his own small sufferings to God, especially when he faced a major surgery. Enzler tells how he learned to unite his suffering with that of Christ in his own personal Holy Week.
