How do you come up with the idea to list all the birds in the world including the subspecies and to give all birds English names? There is a reason for it - my favorite saying, whose author is unknown: "Everyone said that ́s not possible - then there was one who did not know that and just did it!" I am an animal photographer and probably a little bit crazy. Ive built a complete animal database for mammals and birds over the last decade. This facilitates my work in determining and archiving images and assigning keywords, especially among the many subspecies. With this book, I would like to give all birding friends and ornithologists a complete overview in English. For this I have given unique English names to all subspecies. The naming should not meet any scientific requirements. The names are based on translations from the Latin name, geographical distribution areas and the names of the discoverers. The entries consist of the scientific name, the English name, the distribution areas and the author. I wish you a lot of fun with this book, but especially while watching the fascinating birdlife. fotolulu

" Birds are among the most extensively studied of all animal groups. Hundreds of academic journals and thousands of scientists are devoted to bird research, while amateur enthusiasts (called birdwatchers or, more commonly, birders) probably number in the millions. Birds are categorised as a biological class, Aves. The earliest known species of this class is Archaeopteryx lithographica, from the Late Jurassic period. According to the most recent consensus, Aves and a sister group, the order Crocodilia, together form a group of unnamed rank, the Archosauria. Phylogenetically, Aves is usually defined as all descendants of the most recent common ancestor of modern birds (or of a specific modern bird species like Passer domesticus), and Archaeopteryx. Modern phylogenies place birds in the dinosaur clade Theropoda. Modern birds are divided into two superorders, the Paleognathae (mostly flightless birds like ostriches), and the wildly diverse Neognathae, containing all other birds. "

Please note: This is a companion version & not the original book. Sample Book Insights: #1 She did it all. And then some. Martha’s duties were so heavy that she was often called the most competent female in the neighborhood. Martha’s single minded devotion to her family’s success was such that she had little time for socializing and no desire to do so. Martha was a stay-at-home mom, but she didn’t wish to just sit around. She was busy building the foundation of her family’s wealth—all while raising seven children and running the household. Not long ago, I read a book about a woman named Harriet Beecher Stowe. She was the author of Uncle Tom’s Cabin, which told the story of a group of slaves who escaped to freedom in the North and became an important tool in the fight against slavery. As a young girl, Harriet wanted to be a teacher, but her family could not afford it. Instead, she became a teacher’s assistant, and later opened an academy of her own. Because her husband had died young, she needed to support her growing family as well as pay for her own education. By age 21, she had published two books and had become a sought-after speaker. #2 You’re a Mary, and you’re in a Martha world. #3 We’ve all felt the struggle between Mary and Martha. We want to worship like Mary, but the Martha inside keeps bossing us around. #4 You are a Mary, and you’re in a Martha world. You want to be like Mary, but the Martha inside keeps bossing you around.

"This beautifully illustrated book vividly depicts the most threatened birds on Earth. It provides up-to-date information from BirdLife International on the threats each species faces, and the measures being taken to save them. Today, 590 bird species are classified as Endangered or Critically Endangered, or now only exist in captivity. This landmark publication features stunning photographs of 515 of these species--including the results of a prestigious international photographic competition organized specifically for this book. This is the first time that images of many of these birds have been published. It also showcases meticulously accurate illustrations by acclaimed wildlife artist Tomasz Cofta for the 75 species of which no photographs are known to exist. The World's Rarest Birds has introductory chapters that explain the threats birds face in a rapidly changing world, how their threat status is assessed, and how this information is used to set conservation priorities."--Jacket.
