Weight loss, without any doubt, is one of the most excellent motivators for millions of people to follow this diet. Instead of relying on calorie calculations, this program works with their "SmartPoints." Each recipe has been allocated to its respective SmartPoint values. They can be from a range of 0-10 SmartPoints per serving. Those points are the core reference for dieters to watch for. Unlike other weight-loss diets that make you count calories, SmartPoints have nothing to do with calories; instead, they have been allocated based on your age, sex, weight, height, activity level, metabolism, and other factors. Keeping those parameters in mind, each dieter has been given their specific allowance of SmartPoints to consume per day. Each element carries its SmartPoints; for example, if you are male, then you get 8 SmartPoints. Similarly, if your height is more than 5'1, then you get 1 SmartPoints. The daily allowance is the total of the SmartPoints allocated to each parameter. As you can guess, it varies from one person to another. It can be from a range of 15-23 SmartPoints per day. Each dieter knows his/her allowance of points per day. You can pick from a wide range of recipes (breakfast, lunch, snacks, dinner, desserts, drinks, etc.as long as it does not exceed the daily allowance. You are supposed to keep count of SmartPoints consumed throughout a day and make sure it falls within the allowance limit. As the SmartPoints are in single or double digits, it is quite easy to keep track, unlike complex nutrient calculations. The latest version of the Weight Watchers program has included a list of foods carrying zero SmartPoints. Meaning, those foods can be consumed anytime without worrying about their portions and even calories. Those foods are termed as "power food" or "zero-pointer."
