Nachdem alle Hoffnungen auf die Rückkehr in die Heimatgalaxie zerstört wurden, macht sich die 'Weltensucher' auf, den Alternativplan umzusetzen und einen Verbund aller Himmelskörper des Triangulum-Nebels aufzubauen, deren Bewohner sich im Biologiezeitalter befinden. Obwohl sie neben dem frisch besiedelten Planeten 'Neuperia' und der Wasserwelt 'Sahruhd' weitere weit fortgeschrittenen Zivilisationen entdecken, gestaltet sich die Aufgabe als äußerst schwierig. Die entdeckten Gesellschaften entsprechen in mancherlei Hinsicht nicht den Grundsätzen der 'Republik', in deren Namen, das Bündnis geschmiedet werden soll. Trotz aller gebotenen Zurückhaltung wird die verbliebene Mannschaft der 'Weltensucher' in verschiedene Kriege hineingezogen. Hinzukommt ein Problem auf dem Schiff. Ausgerechnet die Maschineningenieurin Trixi, von der die Funktion der 'Weltensucher' abhängt, verhält sich zunehmend undurchschaubar ... 'Weltensucher' ist eine Science-Fiction-Serie. Einerseits ist sie als Nachfolge der Serie 'Lucy' konzipiert. So werden Lucy-Fans viele ihrer Lieblingscharaktere wiederfinden und an ihrer weiteren Entwicklung teilhaben können. Andererseits ist sie so aufgebaut, dass auch 'Neueinsteiger' mit Band 1 beginnen können. Die Kenntnisse der Vorgeschichte aus der Lucy-Serie sind zwar nützlich, aber zum Verständnis der Handlung nicht notwendig. Anders als die Serie 'Lucy' ist sie nicht als explizites Jugendbuch geschrieben worden. Sie enthält aber keine Elemente, die eine Altersbeschränkung notwendig machen würden, sodass sie auch jugendlichen Sience-Fiction-Fans ans Herz gelegt werden kann.
