Dieses Grundvertrauen entsteht ganz früh und ist dann eine Sicherheit, die Kraft gibt, schlechte Erfahrungen und Schwierigkeiten zu verarbeiten. Ein Erziehungserfolg scheint im wesentlichen an die Startphase des Lebens geknüpft. In diesem Zusammenhang spielen die Einstellung und Wertorientierung des Erziehenden, der mit seiner positiven Lebenseinstellung dem Kind eine Grundsicherheit mitgibt, eine wichtige Rolle. Auf dieses tragfähige Fundament kann eine stabile, liebevolle, konsequente, fordernde und damit fördernde Beziehung zwischen Erzieher und jungem Menschen aufgebaut werden. Da es keine „richtige“ Methode gibt, ein Kind zu erziehen, müssen die Eltern individuell entscheiden, was sie ihren Kindern mitgeben wollen, um eine gute Ausgangsbasis für ein eigenverantwortliches Leben zu schaffen. Erziehende sollten wieder eine Ahnung davon bekommen, dass es eine von materiellen Voraussetzungen unabhängige Ausstattung gibt, die sie ihren Kindern für das Leben anbieten können: Werte und Normen.

Divided into four volumes, the Handbook of Parenting is concerned with different types of parents, basic characteristics of parenting, forces that shape parenting, problems faced by parents, and the practical sides of parenting. Contributors have worked in different ways toward understanding all of these diverse aspects of parenting and look to the most recent research and thinking in the field to shed light on many topics every parent has wondered about. OPD-CA-2, the multiaxial diagnostic system for psychodynamically oriented psychiatrists and therapists, now for children and adolescents. Following the success of the Operationalized Psychodynamic Diagnosis for Adults (OPD-2), this multiaxial diagnostic and classification system based on psychodynamic principles has now been adapted for children and adolescents by combining psychodynamic, developmental, and clinical psychiatric perspectives. The OPD-CA-2 is based on four axes that are aligned with the new dimensional approach in the DSM-5: I = interpersonal relations, II = conflict, III = structure, and IV = prerequisites for treatment. After an initial interview, the clinician (or researcher) can evaluate the patient's psychodynamics according to these axes to get a comprehensive psychodynamic view of the patient. Easy-to-use checklists and evaluation forms are provided. The set of tools and procedures the OPD-CA-2 manual provides have been widely used for assessing indications for therapy, treatment planning, and measuring change, as well as providing information for parental work.
