Of the many books explaining Islam, few specifically address the concerns and questions of those from a Christian background. Moreover, the commonalities between the Abrahamic faiths—Judaism, Christianity, and Islam—are too often ignored. Set out in an easy and informative question-and-answer format, the book addresses the specific theological points of agreement and difference between Christianity and Islam, explains the core religious beliefs and practices of Islam, and answers today's most common questions of Islam and Muslims in an age when there is much conflict and misunderstanding. Islam is best judged not by the limitations and transgressions of its most extreme, ignorant, and outlandish followers, but by the example of its moderate majority, and Ruqaiyyah Waris Maqsood presents this introduction to the theology and practice of Islam in an attempt to explore some of the false impressions that surround it. Table of Contents: Section 1: The Religious Beliefs of Islam Explained Section 2: the Religious Duties of Islam Explained Section 3: Miscellaneous Questions Section 4: Christianity and Islam Ruqaiyyah Waris Maqsood gained an honors degree in Christian Theology from the University of Hull in 1963 and then taught religious studies at various state schools until her retirement in 1996. She converted to Islam in 1986 and now lectures and writes on Islam.

What Every Christian Should Know about Islam can be read profitably by the serious student or by anyone who just wants to get a basic handle on the religion founded by Muhammed almost 1400 years ago. It is a distillation of the history and teachings of Islam written from a Christian perspective. An entire chapter is devoted to answering the false claims one will commonly find on Islamic web sites. Another chapter covers the subject of Islam and terrorism, and that the utilization of it as a jihadist tactic comes out of the tradition and philosophy of the revolutionary Left, rather than from the religion of Islam itself. Some other less-known facts one will discover in this book include the following: Muhammed married one of his favorite wives when she was merely a child of about nine That the Sunni/Shia division of Islam had its origin in a feud between two of Mecca's clans that dates from pre-Islamic times The god of Islam, Allah, was originally the Lunar Deity of the pre-Islamic pagan Arabs That Islam itself began as a Christian heresy Muslims originally faced Jerusalem, and not Mecca, while in prayer Mr. Anderson studied Biblical languages at Life Pacific College in Los Angeles, graduating with a BA degree in 1979. He also has AS degrees from Riverside Community College in Riverside, California. Following the terror attacks of September 11, 2001, he determined to learn everything he could about Islam and the jihadist threat. What Every Christian Should Know about Islam is a product of approximately 4 years of research. Mr. Anderson has taught the Bible, Christian doctrine, and apologetics for many years in various churches in Southern California's Inland Empire.

White presents Islamic beliefs about Christ, salvation, the Trinity, the afterlife, and other important topics. It is not the intent of this book to provide commentary to the whole of the Qur'an. What it does propose is to cover those areas of the Qur'an that will give the reader an awareness of the Islamic world's understanding of its relationship to the rest of the world and to the world's other religions. One would think there would be some grand plan for the writing of such a book. The truth is, it was ongoing discussions on Facebook that led to a two-year study to determine the truth of the matter. From this study came a correlated and transliterated copy of the Qur'an, which readers will be given the opportunity if they so wish to request a free copy. Who are the Muslims? What are their factions, how do they relate to the world and to one another? What is Shari'a law, and how does it equate to national and state laws? Is Shari'a law and therefore Islamic law compatible with western values? These are but some of the questions this book seeks to answer. About the Author William Merrifield graduated from the Oklahoma City Police Academy in 1974. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in "Professional Law Enforcement" from Oklahoma City University in 1977. He received a "Master of Divinity Degree" from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1980. He obtained a "Doctor of Ministry Degree" from Westminster Theological Seminary in 1992. His military schooling includes the Army War College where he received a "Masters of Strategic Studies" in July of 2002. He has been in the ministry as both a Southern Baptist Pastor and Chaplain, with over forty 40 years of service. He brings a wealth of experience to his writing. He has written several "White Papers" for the US Army, and doctrine for the US Army Chaplaincy. Since retiring, he has written three books, The Threat From Within, published by Tate Publishing, Who Do You Say I Am, Jesus Called the Christ, and Thoughts On Paul, both published by Christian Faith Publishing.

What Every Christian Needs To Know About Islam written by Bethany Blankley and has been published by Xulon Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-06-27 with Religion categories.

The first in a five-part series, this book is not solely about Islam. It surveys the rich history of Christianity in pre-Islamic Arabia, connecting biblical-era events to modern-era reality. Christianity has never existed in a vacuum. Its origins and evolution remained markedly distinct from the pervasive international and inter-continental pagan cultures in which each new generation of Christians lived. Within this context, understanding Islamic ideology becomes easier. Understanding what Islam is-and is not-is a matter of eternal consequence. One of the greatest dangers Christians face is being unable to distinguish truth from fiction. Unfortunately, many self-identifying Christians, either naïve, misinformed, or deceived, make false claims about Islam, and believe they are true. But, one cannot know what is true without knowing what is false. Discerning the difference requires wisdom and courage. This book compares and contrasts the Qur'an and the Bible's teachings about historical events, the lives and legacies of Muhammad and Jesus, and Jesus's mother, Mary, about whom an entire chapter of the Qur'an is written. It offers questions for apologetics, personal reflection and prayer. Its primary aim is to enable Christians to expose erroneous thinking, to make clear the purpose of Islam, and to encourage Christians to boldly live out the Gospel, the foundation of which solely lies in the person and work of Jesus Christ. To Him, be all praise, honor, and glory. Bethany Blankley is a former Capitol Hill staffer, Fox News Radio political analyst, public speaker and commentator on religion and politics in America. Her commentary has been published by The Washington Times (Axis Mundi), Townhall, Religion Today, Patheos (Hedgerow), Charisma News, Christian Headlines, and Beliefnet, among others. Understanding Islam's sacred text is integral to understanding your Muslim neighbor Cross-cultural missionary and scholar Matthew Aaron Bennett blends the insights of Islamic believers, secular Qur'an scholars, and missionaries to Muslims, making The Qur'an and the Christian like no other resource for Christian ministry to Muslims. Combining these perspectives in one guide better equips Christians to communicate the biblical gospel to friends and neighbors who are adherents to Islam--both in and out of majority-Muslim cultures. The Qur'an and the Christian addresses issues both simple and profound, such as: 1. How the Qur'an came to be, including Muhammed and the Qur'an's textual precursors 2. The major themes of the Qur'an and how these shape the practice of Islam 3. The presence of Bible characters, Jews, and Christians in the Qur'anic text 4. Whether and how a Christian should read the Qur'an 5. Avoiding miscommunication with Muslims when the Qur'an and Christian teaching seem to overlap This book will help Christians learn how to explore Islamic faith with missiological wisdom and biblical precision. The Qur'an and the Christian will give believers the insight to deepen friendships, promote understanding, and clarify the biblical gospel among Muslim friends and neighbors.
