Have you ever thought about what God really thinks about you? Have you ever had the negative thought that God would never want to have anything to do with you over something that has happened in your past? Do you feel the longing to take a step of faith and ask God to reveal Himself to you? One day, my life changed when I realized I missed God and the sense of peace that only comes from giving your heart to Him. The world is filled with uncertainty, but God never changes. He wants to know you and for you to know Him in a specific intimate way. God loves you, and nothing you have ever done will change that. This is what I learned in the school of God known as the church.

In churches today, there are ever fewer older pastors speaking into the lives of younger leaders, and fewer younger leaders feeling there is much to be learned from the experience of their elders. Street-smart wisdom is gone from training as there are many men and women preparing pastors who have never themselves pastored a church. Intriguingly, even older, more seasoned pastors yearn for insight into their task, as they remain "undiscipled" in the school of leadership. In What They Didn't Teach You in Seminary, veteran pastor James Emery White provides the kind of mentoring young pastors desperately need but cannot get from academia or leadership books. These "from the trenches" insights will help them transform their relationships with staff and parishoners, develop healthy boundaries, deliver hard truths, avoid spiritual pitfalls, use their time effectively, and much more.

We see it all around us: Poverty. Unemployment. Crime. Hopelessness. Anger. Disenchantment. Injustice. We want to help. We want to do something. But what? Good intentions are good, but often our efforts at helping others can actually make things worse. And in many communities the church is viewed with suspicion, if not downright hostility. So how can churches effectively serve the needs of their communities in ways that communicate the love and grace of God? According to author Laurie Beshore, churches need to step up and take action, but it all begins by learning. You must get to know the people in your community and establish relationships built on mutual trust and respect. This ebook recounts the compelling twenty-five year story of how Mariner’s Church, a growing mega-church in Irvine, CA, began reaching out to their community and how they made more than their fair share of mistakes along the way. But these hard-earned lessons are now of immense value to a new generation of church leaders trying to serve their own communities that are skeptical, if not understandably suspicious, of the intentions of the 21st century church. Laced with ultra-practical teachings and transferable principles for churches and ministries of all sizes and styles, this is a book filled with potent lessons and powerful stories both heartbreaking and inspiring.

DO YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS ? • Why the world came to be filled with discord? • If God really exists, why doesn’t He fix it? • Is there a penalty we must pay for sinful acts? • Is there a way we can escape this dilemma? • Is the Old Testament important today? • Is prayer important in our belief system? • Is faith important in our relationship with God? • What does it mean to worship in Spirit and Truth? • What does “Born Again” really mean? ********************** I acknowledge that I’m not a member of the clergy, nor am I able to claim an educational degree of any high importance (especially in theology). I do however have many years experience fortified by attending church, Bible study, seeking out the council of the Holy Spirit and learned mentors, and doing some serious praying. The result was this book, “My View from the Pew”, which when translated means...a layman's attempt to simplify and bring to an understandable and workable theology that which otherwise might be (in some cases) unnecessarily complicated.

Can the Christian church, divided over different beliefs about moral values, create Safe Places so people can live together in love through the practices of compassion, grace, and generosity? Moral Values: What I Learned Growing Up in Church is an invitation to the church to find common ground in Jesus' life and words. Love is the ultimate moral value; and compassion, grace, and generosity are the practices of love which empower us to live together in the love of God and one another to which Jesus called us. Listen to scripture and to the story of one man's journey of transformation rooted in what he learned as a child growing up in church -- that moral values follow the path of love.

This book is written for individuals that have felt alienated from God because the church failed. After our son was sexually molested by another member of our church, Richard and I looked to our pastors to help us navigate through trauma and pain that such an event produces. Not only were our pastors ill equipped to direct us toward healing, they were unable to express empathy or support. Their solution was a "don't talk" rule and "just forgive" directive. When these failed to satisfy us, the senior pastor stated he would "released us to find healing somewhere else." In other words, we were KICKED OUT OF CHURCH. Like so many people that have been wounded by the church or church people, our children were ready to just walk away from the church and the Lord. After all, how do you separate the two.' These were the only pastors our children had ever known. Our pastors had taught us to view the church as family. They had repeatedly reminded us, "We were in covenant relationship with the Lord and each other." Yet when life got ugly, they couldn't wait to get rid of us. How do you separate the truth from the lies after such rejection? Richard and I have a relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ that precedes our joining that church. We knew that Jesus had not treated us so coldly. We were not willing to walk away from Jesus. Yet we, too, needed to learn to separate Jesus from religious tradition and religious people. This is a recounting for that journey of learning to separate the God that loves us from the church that so often misrepresents Him. May it give you hope.
