All readers, both novice and longtime practitioners, will encounter in this book new answers, and new questions, to the what, why and how of Zen practice. We've all had moments in our lives when we've thought, "Something is missing. There must be more to life than this." It is this sense that often brings people to the practice of Zen. By turning to Zen, they acknowledge that this "something" lies not in externals, but rather in seeking to transcend desire and attachment. The journey toward that transcendence begins with questioning, and questions will be part of the path until awakening is attained. In What More do You Want? a fascinating new book by renowned Zen master Albert Low, he addresses some of the questions students have posed about the practice of Zen: Why do we practice? Why should we seek to understand our reasons for practicing? How can we distinguish between true and false practice? What is awakening? In addition, Low shares with his readers four teishos--talks that comment on a text or koan in order to enhance meditation practice--on zazen or seated meditation, on pain and suffering, and on the very nature of practice itself. Finally, Low shares with readers an experience of satori, a glimpse into Buddha nature.

Many Christians believe God can do anything, but they don't understand the completion of His plan through Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection. It is in the discovery of what God has already done, that our walk with Him becomes a joy and an adventure Jesus' sacrifice on the cross was great. He exchanged His perfect life and all the power of heaven for our sins, our weaknesses. Through Him our eternal destiny is set. Yet in our day-to-day lives, It seems that we still deal with so many challenges - sickness, financial struggles, difficult relationships, our own shortcomings. Is it possible to walk in victory in this life? Andrew Wommack reveals powerful truths in this practical view of the work of Jesus Christ-truths that are life changing. Readers will learn how Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection not only paid for their eternal salvation, but gave them everything they need for abundant life right here, right now. Andrew encourages readers to avoid being like the dog constantly chasing his tail, not realizing he already has it. As readers begin to understand the extent of the work on the cross, their walk with God will be renewed and their life in Christ will become an adventure beyond anything they ever though possible Wommack approaches faith from a no-nonsense and unique perspective in that he challenges the reader to evaluate their idea of faith in God. Written along the same lines as Kenneth Hagin's How to Turn Your Faith Loose and Right and Wrong Thinking, Wommack goes a step further by revealing the erroneous teachings that encourage believers to beg for God's help. Instead he shows that Jesus already finished His work when He was resurrected and now it's the believer'sresponsibility and privilege to enforce that victory against the powers of darkness.

In De instauranda Aethiopum salute (1627)--the earliest known book-length study of African slavery in the colonial Americas--Jesuit priest Alonso de Sandoval described dozens of African ethnicities, their languages, and their beliefs, and provided an exposé of the abuse of slaves in the Americas. This collection of previously untranslated selections from Sandoval's book is an invaluable resource for understanding the history of the African diaspora, slavery in colonial Latin America, and the role of Christianity in the formation of the Spanish Empire; it also provides insights into early modern European concepts of race. A general Introduction and headnotes to each selection provide cultural, historical, and religious context; copious footnotes identify terms and references that may be unfamiliar to modern readers. A map and an index are also provided.

That Kiss From Heaven Fell On My Heart written by C. Nicole Treadwell and has been published by Xlibris Corporation this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009-03-16 with Family & Relationships categories.
Nicole Treadwell has a secret. If she reveals it, she will surely die. Of course, she knows it´s true because certain death is what he promised her after the "incident" in the deep woods years ago. Her fate ever in his hands, keeping the secret guts her on the inside as she struggles to make ends meet, serving as a law clerk to a dangerously ambitious judge in the Nation’s Capitol with secrets of her own. Nicole is tired--exhausted--toying with thoughts (she´s afraid to own) of letting life go. Her life is unraveling, her sound mind frayed. At the end of herself, she knows she can’t save herself, but who can? Worse, does she want to be saved? A swift reply to both questions comes in the way of a still, small voice at an unlikely time that ushers her onto a path few dare to tread or openly discuss. In contrast, Nicole´s former law school chumb and classmate, Timothy Grue, is a hotshot, private attorney who blazes notorious trails in and out of the courtroom. Both handsome and brash (owing to his kinship with privilege and social standing of a “fine” Philadelphia family), he seems to have the world on a string, every creature comfort easily within his reach, including an overabundance of company from the “fairer sex.” Despite his privilege and pedigree, Tim later learns that it came at a very high price. By a stroke of legal fortune (or misfortune), their paths collide professionally, as Tim is handpicked to represent an "A-List" Hollywood client in a lawsuit over which Nicole´s boss is the presiding judge. Not so secretly, the judge relishes the prospect of having her “fifteen seconds of fame” before the world press. Her staff knows that the attention from the paparazzi may prove to be her professional undoing--and theirs. Her job potentially on the line, Nicole contacts Tim Grue for a clandestine meeting of the minds, but will Tim take the bait and “sign on” to Nicole’s “harmless” solution? Their former friendship (on course to self-ignite or implode) sets in motion a chain of events that blast open the door to Nicole´s secret past and their bitter-sweet history; and where crises of identity, spirituality, and morality intersect, conflicting issues of race and class deepen already murky waters, as Nicole is black, and Timothy is white. Yet, as between the two, they want to know why race is still an issue at all? On the road from hell to higher ground, both learn that anything worth having is always tried by fires of a faith that asks, simply, what do you really believe? And more, can redemption ever come too late?

Occupational Mobility In An Exiled Community written by Professor Dr Madhu Rajput and has been published by Library of Tibetan Works and Archives this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-01-01 with History categories.
The book is an empirical research done by Prof. Madhu Rajput on socio-economic status of Tibetan women in exile. Though the author has focused on Tibetan women at Dharamsala and Dehradun, she takes readers to the era when Tibet was an independent nation, narrating their livelihood and traditions. It is a story of skillful adaptation they displayed in the face of drastically changed circumstances in exile to make their existence meaningful and contributory. In early 1960s during conflict, migration and resettlement, it were the Tibetan women and children who suffered the most, as out of their sheltered existence, they became vulnerable to various forms of gender-based exploitation. As a result of flight trauma, anxiety and hardships of beginning a life in exile, most of them suffer from psychological disorders which affect their social and family lives. In addition to many subjects discussed in the book, the author puts an effort to understand the challenges specific to Tibetan women and children, and create sensitization on the issue.

`For the first time, perhaps, since that land emerged from the waters of geologic ages, a human face was set toward it with love and yearning. It seemed beautiful to her, rich and strong and glorious.' Willa Cather's second novel, O Pioneers! (1913) tells the story of Alexandra Bergson and her determination to save her immigrant family's Nebraska farm. Clear-headed and fiercely independent, Alexandra's passionate faith in the prairie makes her a wealthy landowner. By placing a strong, self-reliant woman at the centre of her tale, Cather gives the quintessentially American novel of the soil a radical cast. Yet, although influenced by the democratic utopianism of Walt Whitman and the serene regionalism of Sarah Orne Jewett, O Pioneers! is more than merely an elegy for the lost glories of America's pioneer past. In its rage for order and efficiency, the novel testifies to the cultural politics of the Progressive Era, the period of massive social and economic transformations that helped to modernize the United States in the years between the Civil War and World War. ABOUT THE SERIES: For over 100 years Oxford World's Classics has made available the widest range of literature from around the globe. Each affordable volume reflects Oxford's commitment to scholarship, providing the most accurate text plus a wealth of other valuable features, including expert introductions by leading authorities, helpful notes to clarify the text, up-to-date bibliographies for further study, and much more.
