A Hollywood California resident, a low keyed yet aristocratic man was cherry picking high profile private investigations as he followed in his grandfather's footsteps. With the passing of his not so famous parents he inherited a great deal of money which made his driven ambition to obtain greatness in the world as a private eye only an egotistical goal as opposed to one of any financial return. As it turned out, the twisted hand of fate dealt the celebrated Thin Man third generation offspring a fatal financial blow. From the glitz and glamour of Hollywood to the blue collar life in Detroit; The Son of a Son of the Thin Man, Nicholas Charles III made the transition from millionaire to bar keep! Left with only a small checking account, his health plus a dilapidated beer garden in Detroit Michigan Nick made his way to the Motor City to start life anew. Up against the likes of Detroit's notorious Purple Gang revitalized after over eighty years, Nick teamed up with a hodgepodge group of amateur sleuths to battle the guerilla tactics of his nemesis; but who is he or she or they? In the process Nick allies himself with ghosts, hookers, detectives, murderers, accountants, a lawyer, a few common folk and several dirty filthy stinking two legged rats to uncover an abominable terrorist attack on America's youth! As one murder after another is committed, the Spirit of Detroit, a Detroit Icon for over 50 years almost gives up hope on Detroit. The Spirit is put to the task of guiding the city back to prosperity by a second grade inner city school student, named Anna. Her ideals combined with a spattering of urban renewal entrepreneurs inspire the Spirit of Detroit to take his place back as Detroit's guardian with a renewed vigor for another 50 years!

Ellavut / Our Yup'ik World and Weather is a result of nearly ten years of gatherings among Yup'ik elders to document the qanruyutet (words of wisdom) that guide their interactions with the environment. In an effort to educate their own young people as well as people outside the community, the elders discussed the practical skills necessary to live in a harsh environment, stressing the ethical and philosophical aspects of the Yup'ik relationship with the land, ocean, snow, weather, and environmental change, among many other elements of the natural world. At every gathering, at least one elder repeated the Yup'ik adage, "The world is changing following its people." The Yup'ik see environmental change as directly related not just to human actions, such as overfishing or burning fossil fuels, but also to human interactions. The elders encourage young people to learn traditional rules and proper behavior--to act with compassion and restraint--in order to reverse negative impacts on their world. They speak not only to educate young people on the practical skills they need to survive but also on the knowing and responsive nature of the world in which they live.

Swept away, battered and alone, she has been left for dead. Lodge owner Mitch Braxton knows something is terribly wrong when Lisa fails to turn up for a private meeting to clear the air and close the book on their broken engagement. Embarking on a heroic search that takes him miles downriver, he saves Lisa from the deadly water, but not before they’ve been swept deep into the wilderness. Far from civilization, the former lovers must put aside their hurt feelings and find the will to survive against nature. There’s a killer on the loose and, for now, they must measure their future together in days rather than years. “Fast-paced and full of suspense.” —Fresh Fiction
