This book makes first amendment issues immediate and contemporary. When Freedom Speaks chronicles the stories behind our First Amendment right to speak our minds. Lynn Levine Greenky's background as a lawyer, rhetorician, and teacher gives her a unique perspective on the protection we have from laws that abridge our right to the freedom of speech. Rhetoricians focus on language and how it influences perception and moves people to action. Powerfully employing that rhetorical approach, this book explores concepts related to free speech as moral narratives that proscribe the boundaries of our constitutionally protected right. Using the characters and drama embedded in legal cases that elucidate First Amendment principles, When Freedom Speaks makes the concepts easier to understand and clearly applicable to our lives. With a wide range of examples and accessible language, this book is the perfect overview of the First Amendment.

This magazine stands for freedom. There was a time when we could be proud. A time we stood silent and the storms came taking upon us destruction paths. Now we're slipping away to ask ourselves what could have been and what might have been. And was a time we could stand up and be proud to be an American first and last. Was once a time our lands we flew our flag free and in glory, we shined. Now we fade.

Prisoner 25:18 - The 50 Poems I Buried, Which Buried Me is a compilation of Freedom Speaks' poetry that was written between 2005-2013, during a period of isolation, discouragement, and doubt. Matthew 25:18 speaks of the man who had one talent (gift) and buried it, thereby burying his lord's money. This is exactly what this poet did, as she hid these poems and stopped performing, which dried up her prosperity and created a prison for her. This book reveals all that she held back. Making the decision to release this work and share this raw poetry is how she set herself free.

An unbelievable conversation with God begins. As his life continues to slide into an abyss, Mark is plagued by doubt. Would God really talk to him like this? Worse still he discovers his conversations with God have made him a disappointment to religious people. Thoroughly disillusioned he decides to stop. But God keeps talking. Every day God turns up and says encouraging and hopeful things to Mark when there is no hope. A growing number of others hear what Mark is doing and try it themselves. Suddenly they too are hearing God speak. The conversation with God begins to spread. Could this be what Isaiah, Jeremiah, David and Paul talked about?

In Pursuit for Freedom speaks for itself. Being born in rural Zimbabwe and going to school there has given me enough stamina to write a book about my life. I have always wanted to be myself. It was when I was growing up that I realized that one can expand his area of influence. Joining Christian ministry and then faced with stationing in remote Zimbabwe was challenging. This was the beginning of long journey, which ended in United Kingdom. The liberation that came as a result of being exposed helped me love my country. Coming back home to a situation where there was oppression, even under black rule, was very suffocating. I then pursued a life that was looking at the suffering masses of Zimbabwe. Being a Methodist, one is liberated to develop yourself. In spite of the powerful regime that intimidated me, I resolved to speak on behalf of the people.

Hotly contested and vigorously defended since it was first written into the Bill of Rights, freedom of speech is a basic right that all Americans hold dear. But what of the freedom not to speak? Should, for instance, a special prosecutor be able to compel a mother to testify about, and incriminate, her own daughter? The freedom not to speak is an implicit'right'that holds great relevance for all of us-the freedom not to speak when commanded by church and state, not to sign an oath, not to salute a flag, not to assert a belief in God, or not to reveal one's political beliefs and associations. Bosmajian traces the history of the freedom not to speak from the Middle Ages and Inquisition to the twentieth century and the House Committee on Un-American Activities. His history addresses the Civil War and Reconstruction loyalty oaths by Union Confederate soldiers, and the expulsion of Jehovah's Witnesses from schools for refusing to salute the flag, and includes an analysis of coerced speech in a variety of literary works. Bosmajian also contemplates the future of this right to silence and argues for the importance of a specifically labeled and firmly established freedom not to speak. -- Provided by publisher
