The Greatest Exchange Adapted from Kiss the Wave by Dave Furman By Dave Furman Kelly Gissendaner was on death row for almost two decades for the murder of her husband. She planned the murder and convinced her lover to kidnap her husband and kill him in the woods. Afterward they set the evidence on fire. Their motive was to collect a life insurance policy and receive sole ownership of the house the Gissendaners had just purchased. A jury convicted Kelly of murder for her role in the crime, and after refusing a plea deal, she was given a death sentence. While she sat on death row, Kelly's entire life changed. She was transformed as she came to understand that Jesus died for her. She encountered the Bible and the truth of the gospel. God worked in her heart to bring her to repentance of her sins and to faith in Christ. The fruit of Kelly's transformation was on display for all to see. Kelly began to minister to the other women in prison and led various Bible studies. She counseled women through an air vent and prevented some women from committing suicide. Perhaps the biggest change was that, in Christ, she found peace in the midst of the storm of death she was facing. She was in awe that Jesus took her place on the ultimate death row. On one occasion she said, "I have learned first-hand that no one, not even me, is beyond redemption through God's grace and mercy. I have learned to place my hope in the God I now know, the God whose plans and promises are made known to me in the whole story of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus." Her hope was not in her continued breaths in this life, but in her union with Christ in this life and in the next. She was a shipwrecked woman who finally found land. Not all of us have been convicted of murder, but all of us have at one time rejected God. The Bible is clear that we are all under an eternal death sentence and apart from God's intervention we would all sit on death row facing a forever death. The truth of God's holiness and our sin means we can never be in his presence unless something changes. We are not simply in need of an inspiring example--we need a saving substitute. We need someone who will take our punishment. When Jesus was being tried for crimes he did not commit, the Roman governor Pilate gave the people a choice: He could release Jesus, an innocent man, or a man called Barabbas, who was a known terrorist. The crowd chose Barabbas and demanded Jesus to be crucified. The crowd chose a murderer over the one who brings the dead back to life. They chose evil over the one who loves perfectly. Put yourself in Barabbas's place for a minute. You are walking to your death in chains and then all of a sudden, when you least expect it, you are free. Then you hear the words begin again: "Crucify him, crucify him." You see another person walking by. Those chants are not for you. The guards are dragging another one to his death-- Jesus of Nazareth. He's beaten and flogged and is forced to carry his cross to his death. It's the very cross you had imagined yourself carrying only moments earlier. You think to yourself, "That's my death he's dying." The Bible says of Jesus that "For our sake [God] made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God" (2 Cor. 5:21). You and I are sinners. We sit in a spiritual prison, bound helpless, awaiting the day when we will receive the just punishment we deserve. We sit on the death row of all death rows waiting to be dragged out to death not knowing when God's righteous judgment will come down. But the good news is that when you repent of your sin and trust in Jesus to save you, Jesus goes off to the cross in your place. He gets what you deserve; you get what he deserves. It is the greatest exchange in all of history. Jesus gives up his life so you can have life. You and I are Barabbas. We need someone to take our place, and Jesus has done that for us. He willingly took the wrath of God upon himself. On the cross, Jesus absorbed all our wickedness. He has poured out his perfect love upon us. First Peter 3:18 says, "For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit." Jesus was leading a true revolution. You can always stop a Barabbas, but you can't stop Jesus. He took our place on the cross so that the greatest exchange in all of history would bring you to God. If you are reading this and want Jesus Christ to become your substitute and exchange your sin for his glory, call out to him right now with a prayer like this: Heavenly Father, I believe that Jesus Christ is your Son, and that he died on the cross to save me from my sin. I believe that he rose again to life, and that he invites me to live forever with him in heaven as part of your family. Because of what Jesus has done, I ask you to forgive me of my sin and give me eternal life. Please guide me to a Bible-believing church where I can grow as a Christian with others who love Jesus. Amen.

Your Ticket To Heaven Pack Of 25 written by Good News Publishers and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2006-10 with Religion categories.

Your Ticket to Heaven May I offer you a ticket to heaven? You don't have to pay for it, and that's a good thing, because you could never afford to buy it It's free, but only because someone has already paid the ultimate price for it. God loves you and not only wants you to have a fulfilling life on earth, he also wants you to live with him in heaven forever. He's the one who offers you a paid-in-full ticket. No one wants to go to hell where there will be no joy and no pleasures whatsoever, and God doesn't want anyone to go there either. The Bible says that God is "not wishing that any should perish" (2 Peter 3:9). But there is a problem with getting that free ticket. We have all done wrong--we have all sinned, haven't we? God's Word says "If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves" (1 John 1:8). Sin pollutes--it makes us unclean, unfit for God's presence in that wonderful, perfect place called heaven. Sin penalizes--it separates us from a sinless God, "For the wages of sin is death" (Romans 6:23). In short, our sinfulness blocks the delivery of the ticket that we need to get into heaven Who paid for it? Wait There's good news Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came to earth to be born and to live his life without sin. He "suffered once for our] sins, the righteous one] for the unrighteous all of us ], that he might bring us to God" (1 Peter 3:18). When God "laid on him the iniquity sins] of us all" (Isaiah 53:6), Jesus cried out, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" (Mark 15:34). The answer is simple and profound: Jesus was separated from God because he took your place and mine on the cross, and by dying he paid in full the "wages" our sins had earned. Then he rose from the dead, was seen by hundreds of people, and is alive today so you can know him and receive the gift of eternal life--your ticket to heaven. That's right The Bible says, "to all who did receive him Jesus], who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God" (John 1:12). That is fantastic You can become a "new" person--born of God--to start a brand-new life that pleases God. And, of course, all God's children have a ticket to heaven Do you want it? It is no accident you were given this offer of a ticket to heaven. God has made sure you can receive it. The whole issue is, did Jesus pay for all your sins or didn't he? God said he did. Trust God that it is so. "Whoever believes in the Son of God] has eternal life" (John 3:36). Just as a man says, "Yes, I will take this woman to be my wife," God wants you to tell him, "Yes, I will take Jesus to be my Savior. I believe that he is the only way to heaven." The Bible says, "Whoever has the Son Jesus] has life" (1 John 5:12). If you believe that God's way to heaven is the only way, you can "claim your ticket" by telling God in words like these: Dear God, I have sinned. I know I have offended you in many ways. I am so sorry. I believe that Jesus suffered and died for my sins, paid my debt in full, and rose again. Jesus, I believe in you and thank you for what you've done for me. Please save me from the penalty of my sins, and give me a new birth and the power to live for you. Thank you for this offer to spend eternity with you Remember what John 3:36 says: "Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life." Do you now believe in Jesus as your Savior, your only "ticket to heaven"? Do you have everlasting life, like God said?

Most people have an idea of what they believe it will take to be accepted by God. After all, who likes the idea of exiting this life without being on good terms with him? Thankfully, it's possible to be certain that you've made peace with God, but the way must be chosen during this life. Here are the steps drawn from God's book, the Bible: Step 1. Understand God's purposes--peace and eternal life God loves you and wants you to experience peace and eternal, fulfilling life. The Bible says... "We have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ." Romans 5:1 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16 "I came that they may have life and have it abundantly." John 10:10 Why don't most people have this peace and the fulfilling (abundant) life that God intended for us to have? Step 2. Admit the problem--our sin and separation God did not create us like robots to automatically love and mechanically obey him. God gave us a will and the freedom to choose. The first man and woman chose to disobey God and go their own willful way. And we still make that choice today. This results in separation from God. The Bible says... "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23 "For the wages of sin is death." Romans 6:23 People have tried many ways to bridge this gap between themselves and God. The Bible says... "There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death." Proverbs 14:12 "Your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God..." Isaiah 59:2 No bridge reaches God... except one. Step 3. Discover God's bridge--the cross Jesus Christ died on the cross and rose from the grave. Though he was God's sinless Son, he became a human, took our place, and paid the penalty for our sin, bridging the gap between God and us. The Bible says... "For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus."1 Timothy 2:5 "Christ... suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God." 1 Peter 3:18 "God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us... the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."Romans 5:8, 3:23 "Christ died for our sins... he was buried... he was raised on the third day." 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 God has provided the only way to forgiveness of sin and eternal life. But each person must make a choice. Step 4. Embrace the truth--receive Christ We must trust Jesus Christ as our Savior and receive him by personal choice. Jesus says... "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me." Revelation 3:20 "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." John 14:6 The Bible says... "To all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God." John 1:12 "Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life." John 3:36 What is your decision? Will you receive Jesus Christ right now and trust in him alone for forgiveness and eternal life? The Bible says that's the only way to find peace with God! Admit your need--that you are a sinner in need of God's forgiveness. Be willing to turn from trusting in anything else for eternal life and trust only in Christ. Believe that Jesus Christ died for you on the cross, came back to life from the grave, and is your only way to heaven. Accept Jesus' offer to forgive your sins and come into your life as your Savior. You may want to tell him in words like these: "Dear Jesus, thank you for making it possible for me to find peace with God! I believe that when you died you were paying the penalty for my sins. I now receive you into my life as my Savior, so I can have forgiveness and never-ending life from God! Thank you for the gift of eternal life!"

"Got anything to be thankful for this Thanksgiving?" However you respond to that question now, all of us are affected in some way by difficulties and sadness at almost any time. It may be due to unemployment, serious illness or the death of a loved one. For many of us it's the sting of retirement funds tanking or losing thousands in a house sale. Maybe you're distraught over a relative serving in a war zone. And even if you're not directly feeling anything like that today, certainly hardship touches the lives of many people you know. Life is hard. No wonder thankfulness doesn't come naturally! Yet thankfulness is an important part of life. God even included not being thankful as a characteristic of those who had no respect for him! They knew about God, but the Bible says "they did not honor him as God or give thanks" (Romans 1:21). Why is being thankful so hard? We routinely take significant things for granted, too. For instance, the Bible says, "The God who made the world and everything in it...gives to all mankind life and breath and everything" (Acts 17:24-25). He supplies the air we breathe and gives us the ability to breathe it. How long has it been since you thanked God for the ingenious life-support system you live by! And that points back to a bigger problem. The very first generation of mankind rebelled against God and passed on that rebellion to every following generation: "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23). Sin taints everything we do and condemns us to eternity outside God's presence. Having mankind crushed under the condemnation of our sin was never what God wanted for us. Yet for God's justice to be met, the penalty of our sins must be fully paid. Our situation would be hopeless if Jesus Christ hadn't stepped in to pay the penalty for us. God's perfect Son became a human to do just that: "God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)! God accepted Christ's death in payment for our sin-debt. And because of Christ's resurrection three days later, those who believe in him can be assured of life with God in heaven after death. Jesus promised them, "Because I live, you also will live" (John 14:19). The way to God is clear. Jesus said, "I am the way....No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6). "Everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name" (Acts 10:43). The only offer available from God is an absolutely free gift: "it is the gift of God, not a result of works" (Ephesians 2:8-9). It's made possible only by accepting Christ as the one who died in our place. Now that's something to be thankful for! Imagine such an amazing gift being rejected and going unthanked! If you don't accept God's offer, if you don't appreciate his love, then what will you say to him on judgment day? "It is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment" (Hebrews 9:27). How do you expect God to respond to you if you never accepted his amazing offer of salvation, made possible by the greatest sacrifice ever? This Thanksgiving season is a perfect time to accept what God has done to secure your forgiveness and eternal future. If that's your heart's desire, you can tell him by praying words like these... "Dear God, I'm sorry for living my own way and ignoring your gracious offer of forgiveness. I now believe that Jesus died to pay the debt of my sins. I don't deserve it, but thank you for forgiving me and giving me eternal life. Thank you for making it possible for me to start a relationship with you that will last forever. And thank you for your love for me. Amen." The God "who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all" (Romans 8:32) wants to help you face all of your difficulties--beginning the moment you place your trust in him for salvation. In a world with so much hardship and pain, that's definitely something to be thankful for!

Those of us who have lost a loved one to disease or have loved ones who are fighting an illness, or who dread its possible return, may sometimes feel as though we're about to be overwhelmed with fear or that God has abandoned us or doesn't care about our battles. I am glad to remind you today, that is not the case. He does care. God's love for us is not wishful thinking. It is not a mirage in the desert of life on earth. He really does love us. Or perhaps we feel that God just doesn't understand what's it like to lose a loved one. Author Leslie Montgomery writes, "Who better than our Father in heaven knows the anguish of losing a loved one, for his own Son died at Calvary." Yes, God does know. He understands. The Book of Psalms, chapter 34, verse 18, tells us, "The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit." As you or a loved one face disease, perhaps as you mourn one whose life ended because of a terrible illness, are you brokenhearted, overcome with fear or despair? God understands, God cares, God is near at hand to comfort and help. To those who love him, God says, "Fear not, for I am with you... I will strengthen you, I will help you" (Isaiah 41:10). You see, God is not an absentee father--he is a present help and refuge. We cannot see him, we cannot physically hear his voice, we cannot literally feel his touch, but he is here with us in our times of crisis. One of the best things about participating in events to support victims of disease is that rather than each of us making a contribution to the battle against dreaded illnesses alone, one by one, we are making a contribution together. As we walk together and talk together and network and connect, we become a team of people united in a great cause. As good as that is, there is something even better than that--God wants to connect with us, to encourage us in our difficulties and give comfort to our souls (Psalm 62:1-2). God does care about us, he has not abandoned us, he is a compassionate Heavenly Father. We do not have to face our trials and fears alone. And God's Son, Jesus Christ, speaks to us gently through the Bible and offers to show us his love by sharing our burdens: "Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest...for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls" (Matthew 11:28-29). The ultimate proof of God's love was sending Jesus to die on the cross for us, taking the punishment our sins deserve, then rising from the grave three days later. As 1 John 4:9 tells us, "In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world [to die in place of sinners], so that we might live through him." And John 3:36 says "Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life." How wonderful it is to know that all who trust him fully find eternal life through him: "For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved" (Romans 10:13). Then those who place their trust for forgiveness and eternal life completely on Jesus Christ, who died for them and rose again, can say with the words of Psalm 23... The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever. If you don't have the assurance of God's provision for your deepest needs, I invite you to place your absolute trust in Jesus Christ today. The Bible says that those who believe in him "become children of God" (John 1:12). And as a child of God, you're invited to cast "all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you" (1 Peter 5:7).
