When Tears Turn to Rain tells the personal story of a woman who, at forty, made a vow to herself to give up drinking, to pursue sobriety, and to save her own life. Based upon her journal entries, where she recorded her reflections along the way, she has crafted a sparse, unblinking, and straightforward account of her struggles and achievements along the path to living a sober life. When Tears Turn to Rain focuses on the turn toward living and away from dying that the author made. As she writes, At the age of forty, I realized that my journey was coming to an end. By this time, I was sick and shook so badly that I should have been hospitalized. But still determined to reach my destination of Skid Row, I pedaled all the harder. In December 2012, one block before I reached Skid Row, I noticed a beautiful sign that was lit up with sunshine. Its two words were the most beautiful I had ever seen: Sobriety Place. This is the story of what happens when she heads toward that beautiful place. This memoir reveals the details of an individuals journey into sobriety, showing how one woman faced her addiction and changed the direction of her life.

This book of poetry was written to help those who are grieving the loss of someone. Grieving is a process that you will go through in your own time, in your own way. If you can't work through the steps of grieving then you can't move on with your life. Some days it will seem that you will never move on but the truth is, you will. According to professionals we go through seven stages of grieving...shock & denial, pain & guilt, anger & bargaining, depression, not necessarily in this order. My personal experience with the loss of my husband was the most traumatic event in my life. I've gone through all the stages of grieving and to this day I still have my moments. It seems like the roller coaster of the loss never will end, but at least now I can focus on the more pleasant times we shared. One of the best things I did for myself was go to a grief counselor to try to sort my emotions out. This may be something you might consider too. I had to remember that their were people in my life that wanted the old me back. Even sitting here typing these words cause tears to well up. They are right when they say you will eventually move on but the pain will never go away. Death leaves a hole in your heart that can't be filled. The poems inside were written to invoke the sadness of your loss through your tears. Crying is a way of healing. As you read these poems let your tears fall like rain. I wish you well on your journey through this phase of your life and there is indeed life after a death.

The poems in this collection concatenate myriad of happenings in life which, though may take a similar course, do not leave us to grin and grimace at the same time. The turn of events in life, like rain, offers mixed feelings which may be pleasant or otherwise. Though rain comes with peaceful breeze and great equanimity, sometimes it does not usually come with that "expected" gift of grace. Occasionally, we may have to rejoice and sometimes count our losses. As heavens may pour down its torrent of grace, it may as well drizzle down its tears of terror. Thus, its arrival and departure do not always leave us with a soothing countenance as we all anticipate. With the ease of rainfall, the poems flow with the truths of the common life of the postcolonial subjects in a world of their own.

"Beautifully written and wise … [Martin Prechtel] offers stories that are precious and life-sustaining. Read carefully, and listen deeply."—Mary Oliver, National Book Award and Pulitzer Prize winner Inspiring hope, solace, and courage in living through our losses, author Martín Prechtel, trained in the Tzutujil Maya shamanic tradition, shares profound insights on the relationship between grief and praise in our culture--how the inability that many of us have to grieve and weep properly for the dead is deeply linked with the inability to give praise for living. In modern society, grief is something that we usually experience in private, alone, and without the support of a community. Yet, as Prechtel says, "Grief expressed out loud for someone we have lost, or a country or home we have lost, is in itself the greatest praise we could ever give them. Grief is praise, because it is the natural way love honors what it misses." Prechtel explains that the unexpressed grief prevalent in our society today is the reason for many of the social, cultural, and individual maladies that we are currently experiencing. According to Prechtel, "When you have two centuries of people who have not properly grieved the things that they have lost, the grief shows up as ghosts that inhabit their grandchildren." These "ghosts," he says, can also manifest as disease in the form of tumors, which the Maya refer to as "solidified tears," or in the form of behavioral issues and depression. He goes on to show how this collective, unexpressed energy is the long-held grief of our ancestors manifesting itself, and the work that can be done to liberate this energy so we can heal from the trauma of loss, war, and suffering. At base, this "little book," as the author calls it, can be seen as a companion of encouragement, a little extra light for those deep and noble parts in all of us.

Tears In The Rain written by Michael Wade and has been published by Independently Published this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-08-09 with categories.

Man is success and failure wrapped in one. Men aren't supposed to feel any way about the expectation put on them. Men need to take responsibility for the toxicity created by them. But once again...there too lies some truth. This is accountability being taken. "Tears in the Rain" is written in the first-person narrative to stimulate the thought process. With these writings I hope to dispel any myths about male strength and vulnerability; may these writings be an act of contrition, a show of male vulnerability society is owed, maybe give answers to some unanswered questions. May this be the starting line to ultimately show that "man" is not the enemy-evil humans are. Even fools want a better world. It doesn't make them foolish. Masculinity is no more the enemy than femininity is; both are fallible. One is nothing without the other, without one the other falls weak and dies. May these writings be the starting lines that start the discussions to begin healing and changing paradigms.
