If any place on God's earth was designed to help one heal, it is Meadowland. Surely here, at her brother-in-law's Kentucky farm, Rose and her daughters can recover from the events of the recent past--the loss of her husband during the 1918 influenza epidemic, her struggle with tuberculosis that required a stay at a sanatorium, and her girls' experience in an orphanage during her illness. At Meadowland, hope blooms as their past troubles become rich soil in which their faith can grow. Dirk Meadows may have opened his home to his late brother's widow and her girls, but he keeps his heart tightly closed. The roots of his pain run deep, and the evidence of it is written across his face. Badly scarred by a fire and abandoned by the woman he loved, Dirk fiercely guards his heart from being hurt again. But it may be that his visitors will bring light back into his world and unlock the secret to true healing. Bestselling author Ann H. Gabhart explores the tender places within the human heart in this character-driven story of trusting God to turn our burdens into something beautiful.

"Meadow Flowers" is Sandra E. McBride's second collection of "people poetry" meant to bring to the reader a memory, a thought, a feeling, a reminder of a beautiful sight or an uplifting moment. As in her first volume, "Mist Upon the Pond," "Meadow Flowers" features a wide range of styles and forms, from haiku to narrative story poems and most everything else in between. There are familiar forms like quatrain, some unusual forms such as shape poems and samisen and some with unique forms and rhyming patterns as well. A hug, a laugh, a pat on the back . . . some "ah " moments in an often trying world. This collection of 95 poems and verses written over the past four years features a section of poems especially for children as well as sections on history, the beauty of nature, inspirational moments both humorous and serious, getting to know God and cherishing family. Like the wildflowers in a country meadow, this varied collection has something for everyone. Sandra E. McBride is a native of Mechanicville, New York and grew up in a small town and outdoorsy environment, which early on forged in her a great appreciation for the world around her. With a lifelong interest in writing, leading to a gig as a high school correspondent with the Record Newspapers at the age of 16, she put her dream of becoming a "real" writer on hold while she reared her six children. For twenty-four years, she worked alongside her husband Tom in running their family dairy farm. At age 55, with the kids grown up and out on their own, she decided to dust off that dream of becoming a writer and go for it. She enrolled in a writing course with the Institute of Children's Literature. After achieving "enough success to keep me writing," she says, and after retiring from her day job in the local school's business office, she took on a career as a freelance writer with a local weekly newspaper, The Express, in 2006.

In her attempts to untangle the mess, Lillian will discover not only a family she never knew she had but a family business that is more than meets the eye--and has put a target on her back. To discover the truth and take hold of the independence she's always dreamed of, she'll have to make friends with adversaries and strangers--especially Jonah, the dusty and unrefined cowboy who has secret aspirations of his own.

If all the world's a stage, Jacci will play her part. She only hopes her story does not turn out to be a tragedy. In 1881, Jacci Reed is only five years old when a man attempts to kidnap her from the steamboat her mother, Irena, works on. Badly wounded during the confrontation, Irena takes Jacci aboard the Kingston Floating Palace, a showboat tied up beside them. There, Jacci's actor grandfather tends to her mother and Jacci gets a first taste of the life she will come to lead. Fifteen years later, Jacci is an actress aboard the Kingston Floating Palace, and largely contented with her adopted family of actors, singers, and dancers. Especially Gabe, who has always supported her, and the gruff grandfather she has come to know and love. Jacci's mother has been gone for years, but the memory of the altercation that ultimately took her life--and the cryptic things Jacci has overheard about her past--is always there, lurking in the back of her mind. When someone on the showboat tries to kill Jacci, it's clear her questions demand answers. But secrets have a way of staying in the shadows, and the answers she craves will not come easily. Gabe only hopes they come in time for him and Jacci to have a future together. *** "Gabhart delivers an atmospheric romance set on an 1890s showboat with plenty of secrets below deck. Supported by a cast of winning characters, this well-wrought mystery skillfully builds intrigue and doesn't let up steam until the satisfying conclusion."--Publishers Weekly "Gabhart presents another inspiring historical novel. Her masterful storytelling glows with personality and page-turning surprises."--Booklist

Mini Meadows written by Mike Lizotte and has been published by Hachette UK this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-02-19 with Gardening categories.

The word “meadow” conjures images of wide expanses of land, but a mini meadow — a kind of informal flower garden started with seed sown directly into the soil — can be any size; plus, it’s fun, easy to grow, and good for the planet. With as little as 50 square feet and for less than $20, gardeners can plant a colorful meadow that demands little in the way of space, mowing, or maintenance, uses less water than a traditional lawn, and provides habitat for pollinators — not to mention a natural exploration space for children. From choosing the right variety of seeds, preparing the soil, sowing evenly, and watering well, author Mike Lizotte guides readers through the process of successfully creating a miniature meadow that suits their climate, soil, and growing goals, whether planting to beautify a hellstrip, halt erosion, fill a boggy spot, or establish a nesting area for bees and butterflies. Mini Meadows offers gardeners of all levels the keys to creating, caring for, and reaping the rewards of thriving meadows through the seasons, year after year. This unique volume contains, in parallel translation, a thousand of the most frequently performed Lieder, both piano-accompanied and orchestral. Composers are arranged alphabetically, with their songs appearing under poet in chronological order of composition - thus allowing the reader to engage in depth with a particular poet and at the same time to follow the composer's development. Richard Stokes, whose work in this field is already widely acclaimed, provides illuminating short essays on each of the fifty composers' approach to Lieder composition, as well as well as notes on all the poets who inspired the songs. The volume is notable for the accuracy and elegance of its translations, and for its fidelity to the German verse: every care has been taken to print the words of the sung text, while adhering to the versification and punctuation of the original poem.Beethoven, Schubert and Schumann, Goethe, Heine and Schiller are among the highlights of a book which illuminates one of the great musical traditions and will be an indispensable handbook for every music lover.
