The Church is Dying. ">Absolutely Not! The Baptists expect to lose half their churches in the next 20 years. They revamp their message, but nothing works because they can’t face the real problem that plagues all churches. According to the Christian website, www.gotquestions.org, few young adults have a “biblical worldview,” because they don’t believe in Satan, hell or that Christianity is the only true religion. The problem is that Christianity has an identity crisis that gives young adults good reason to doubt the church. Joseph Ratzinger (pope) quit his first seminary because it conceded that two separate and opposing Christianities existed in the second century. One was the Jewish Christianity of Jesus and the other was the Roman gentile Christianity of Paul. They noted that Paul was “indifferent to the teaching of Jesus... and the opponent of the religion of love, Christ came to announce to the world.” Jesus’ Christianity had no judgment, Satan, hell, Easter or Christmas for 300 years! These were not the teaching of Christ, but pagan traditions added by the Romans when they commandeered the religion later. These facts don’t discredit Jesus Christ at all! Bishop John Spong of Newark says “the church has always dangled us between their imaginary heaven and hell as a control tactic.” This savvy, secular world gets it, and is unmoved by the church’s brimstone threats. They know it has nothing to do with the religion of Jesus Christ. The church is dying, but as they say, “When God closes a door, He always opens a window.” So now, Christian Spirituality, more like original Christianity, is a star on the rise.

Locked together in an affectionate sibling rivalry, Minneapolis and its twin city St.Paul are constantly growing and changing. Minneapolis-St.Paul Then and Now shows how Minnesota’s two largest cities have expanded along the banks of the Mississippi river and merged over the last 150 years. (Although if St. Paul had stuck with its original name it would be Minneapolis-Pig’s Eye Landing, the name came from a notorious whiskey runner.)The long and cold Minnesota winters and humid summers have spawned an architecture to feat the weather with indoor shopping malls, domed stadia, skyways and a whole host of sports and celebrations that thrive in this climate. The St. Paul Winter Carnival is the oldest winter celebration in North America.Using archive photos pairing vintage photos from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries with their modern-day viewpoint, local author Bill Lindeke shows how the Twin Cities have developed from simple trading posts on the banks of the Mississippi in "the land of 10,000 lakes."Sites include: Forum Cafeteria, Lumber Exchange Building, Foshay Tower, City Hall, Pillsbury ‘A’ Mill, Milwaukee Depot, Metropolitan Building, Huber H. Humphye Metrodome, Triangle Bar, Loring Park, Basilica of St. Mary, University of Minnesota, Northrup Auditorium, Swedish Institute, Minneapolis Institute of Art, Hennepin and Lake, Lake Calhoun, Lake Harriet, Minnehaha Falls, Fort Snelling, Seven Corners, Landmark Center, Mickey’s Diner, First State Capitol Building. The World Of Saint Paul written by Joseph Callewaert and has been published by Ignatius Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-01-18 with Religion categories.

Joseph Callewaert's engaging work on St. Paul reads like a novel. With inviting, even dramatic, prose, it recounts the story of the great Apostle to the Nations. This is no dry tome or ponderous biography. Nor is its subject a "safe" historical figure, irrelevant to the issues of today: St. Paul remains controversial. Some scholars claim he "invented" Christianity. They believe his message radically departed from what Jesus taught. The Christian faith, so the claim runs, is the creation of Paul's religious experience, not the doctrine of Jesus. Callewaert rejects this theory, as do many other scholars. His interpretation rests on the Bible and the abiding tradition of the ages, rather than tendentious theories or ideologically-motivated revisions. Yet Callewaert's work is no anti-scholarly screed. The World of Saint Paul provides a popular, yet expert account of the Apostle and his age. For those who know little about St. Paul-which includes many Christians-it is a superb introduction. "In my presentation of St. Paul, I have tried to absorb the spirit of his epoch as far as I could, and put less trust in the present-day judgments than in the abiding traditions of the ages. If I have perhaps evoked a little too much history and pursued rather too long a road in regions so rich with a past, I have always made sure to trace a path which brings us back to this intrepid and tenacious Jew who will steadily appear in stark relief." From the Preface

Excerpt from The Last Years of Saint Paul The name of Saint Paul, once more made use of to adorn the titlepage of this work, makes it, as it were, the second volume of his life. It was fitting to set it in such strong relief; for, though the Apostle no longer stands before us alone in the labors of these his last years, still, as ever, he continues to play the principal part in word and in deed; above all, it is now, and only now, that he rises to that supreme height of virtue which was destined to set the seal of Heaven upon his sanctity. With My Meditations on Saint Paul, follow in the missionary footsteps of Saint Paul from Damascus to Rome. Father James Sullivan begins each daily devotional with a scene from Acts of the Apostles or the Epistles of Saint Paul. Filled with rich historical and personal details describing the thoughts and feelings that a disciple must have experienced, Sullivan places you in the midst of the early Christians who heard the words of Saint Paul. This pocket-sized devotional gives you everything you need to walk with and learn at the feet of the Saint Paul, including: • Intimate, personal reflections on the words and acts of Saint Paul • Heartfelt prayers, echoing the same prayers and petitions of the great convert and evangelizer • Detailed maps chronicling Saint Paul's extensive missionary journeys (p. 557-560) • A timeline of St. Paul's life both before and after his dramatic conversion (p. 563-564) • And much more... After Christ's death and resurrection, Paul became the first Apostle to preach His Good News to non-Jews (Gentiles). This is generally considered the most decisive moment in Church history and Saint Paul was at the center of that moment. Now, you can travel with Saint Paul on his missionary tours, learn at his feet, and discover how to bring the teachings of Christ to your world. Saint Paul written by Michael Grant and has been published by Hachette UK this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-07-14 with Biography & Autobiography categories.

Saint Paul was not only a religious figure of exceptional power but one of the outstanding makers of history. This is the biography of a man who profoundly influenced people of widely divergent beliefs, races and epochs. Without the spiritual earthquake brought about by St Paul, Christianity would probably never have survived. Yet Paul's importance extends very widely beyond the religious field. His effect upon Western thought has been immeasurable. This is the man Michael Grant has described in his book. Paul's own authentic voice can still be heard in his surviving letters or Epistles, which not only contain numerous autobiographical clues, but are the earliest Christian documents in existence and rank high among the most valuable literature the world has ever produced. Dr Grant considers in detail this extant literature, along with material of Paul's four evangelical journeys and discusses the reasons for his spectacular conversion on the road to Damascus. As in The Jews of the Roman World and Herod the Great, he brings together research on Israel on the one hand and Greece and Rome on the other, believing that it is necessary to study these cultures in conjunction, since Paul was a Jew who wrote in Greek and was a Roman citizen. The aim of this book, then, is to bring to life this many sided human being of outstanding and peculiar gifts.
