We're all waiting for something-a dream, a change, a cure, an answer. Though we know what the Bible tells us about waiting well, the Lord's promises, and His perfect plan for our life, we still find ourselves battling with the day-to-day reality before us. We're tired. We're frustrated. We're at a loss of what else we can possibly do. We've already surrendered this battle to Him, after all. Why do we still feel this way?Have we, though, actually surrendered? What does that even mean, in all reality? What do we do when our burning desire to trust the Lord collides with our flesh in the form of underlying expectations of Him? How to we overcome our fear that silences our faith? How do relinquish our controlling tendencies without becoming idle? How do we pray fervently for those deep desires of our hearts while still declaring "Thy will be done?" How do we recognize and thwart the enemy's plans to focus our eyes on all that isn't so he can steal away all that currently is? How do we boldly declare to the Lord that we want Him and His will more than anything and actually mean it?Connect with Jenna's heart for you as she openly shares how the Lord revealed these hidden corners of sin during her own journey of waiting. Dive into Scripture with her and meet biblical characters who fought similar battles. Experience freedom as you call light to the silent stones weighing down your heart and learn what it looks like to actively surrender them to the Lord. Develop personalized battle strategies to overcome the enemy's attempts to drag you back into your internal chaos. Become a warrior in waiting as you find your "YES" in His "Not yet."

Wake War And Waiting written by Rodney Kephart and has been published by Pickle Partners Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-11-06 with History categories.

Before the thunderous bombs dropped on Pearl Harbor in 1941, the outpost of Wake Island was a backwater dotted in the Pacific Ocean with only a handful of military personnel and construction workers on the roster. Among the construction workers was Rodney Kephart of Iowa, signed up with Morrison-Knudsen company of Iowa, and about to be attacked by the might of Imperial Japanese Navy. The heroic but unsuccessful defence of Wake led Kephart and his fellow workers into Japanese captivity for how long they could not guess. Captivity for the prisoners was a war in and of itself; and Kephart’s short narrative gives a vivid account of the daily struggles against starvation, against the petty viciousness or outright brutality of the captives, against dirt, time and terror. Yet, despite his photographic realism, Mr. Kephart’s saga is not essentially one of pessimism or despair. Out of the darkness of slavery flash those small victories or omens that men could cherish and hold against the ultimate hope of freedom—the Christmas celebration, the miracle of a Red Cross package, the sight of the first American bomber. And then, with the surrender of the Japanese, came that unforgettable moment. They were free men again! For the reader who has lived through the disappointments and triumphs of the book, that long- awaited moment will be no less thrilling. Rodney Kephart was born in Spencer, Iowa, in 1917. After attending school in South Dakota, he went to Bethel Junior College in St. Paul, Minnesota. Until his capture on Wake, he was at various times a farmer, a carpenter, and an unofficial Protestant minister. Since his return from the Pacific he has been studying business administration, first at the Boise Junior College and later at the University of Minnesota.

The Waiting written by Keum Suk Gendry-Kim and has been published by Drawn & Quarterly this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-11-02 with Comics & Graphic Novels categories.

Keum Suk Gendry-Kim was an adult when her mother revealed a family secret: she was separated from her sister during the Korean War. It’s not an uncommon story—the peninsula was split down the 38th parallel, dividing one country into two. As many fled violence in the north, not everyone was able to make it south. Her mother’s story inspired Gendry-Kim to begin interviewing her and other Koreans separated by the war; that research fueled a deeply resonant graphic novel. The Waiting is the fictional story of Gwija, told by her novelist daughter Jina. When Gwija was 17 years old, after hearing that the Japanese were seizing unmarried girls, her family married her in a hurry to a man she didn't know. Japan fell, Korea gained its independence, and the couple started a family. But peace didn’t come. The young family—now four—fled south. On the road, while breastfeeding and changing her daughter, Gwija was separated from her husband and son. Then 70 years passed. Seventy years of waiting. Gwija is now an elderly woman and Jina can’t stop thinking about the promise she made to help find her brother. Expertly translated from Korean by award-winning Janet Hong, The Waiting is the devastating followup to Gendry-Kim’s Grass, which won the Krause Essay Prize, the Slate Cartoonist Studio Prize, the Harvey Award, and appeared on best of the year lists from the New York Times, The Guardian, Library Journal, and more.

Two Generals written by Scott Chantler and has been published by Emblem Editions this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-10-25 with History categories.

A beautifully illustrated and poignant graphic memoir that tells the story of World War II from an Everyman's perspective. In March of 1943, Scott Chantler's grandfather, Law Chantler, shipped out across the Atlantic for active service with the Highland Light Infantry of Canada, along with his best friend, Jack, a fellow officer. Not long afterward, they would find themselves making a rocky crossing of the English Channel, about to take part in one of the most pivotal and treacherous military operations of World War II: the Allied invasion of Normandy. Two Generals tells the story of what happened there through the eyes of these two young men -- not the celebrated military commanders or politicians we often hear about, but everyday heroes who risked their lives for the Allied cause. Meticulously researched and gorgeously illustrated, Two Generals is a harrowing story of battle and a touching story of friendship -- and a vital and vibrant record of unsung heroism.

This book describes the organization, lists the units and illustrates the uniforms and equipment of the four Canadian divisions which earned an elite reputation on the Western Front in 1915-18. Canada's 600,000 troops of whom more than 66,000 died and nearly 150,000 were wounded represented an extraordinary contribution to the British Empire's struggle. On grim battlefields from the Ypres Salient to the Somme, and from their stunning victory at Vimy Ridge to the final triumphant 'Hundred Days' advance of autumn 1918, Canada's soldiers proved themselves to be a remarkable army in their own right, founding a national tradition.
