Why do high schools and colleges require students to take courses in English, math and science, yet have absolutely no requirements for students to learn about personal money management? Why Didn't They Teach Me This in School? 99 Personal Money Management Lessons to Live By was initially developed by the author to pass on to his five children as they entered adulthood. As it developed, the author realized that personal money management skills were rarely taught in high schools, colleges and even in MBA programs. Unfortunately, books on the subject tend to be complicated, lengthy reads. The book includes eight important lessons focusing on 99 principles that will quickly and memorably enhance any individual's money management acumen. Unlike many of the personal money management books out there, this book is a quick, easily digested read that focuses more on the qualitative side than the quantitative side of personal money management. The principles are not from a text book. Rather, they are practical principles learned by the author as he navigated through his financial life. Many are unorthodox in order to be memorable and provoke deeper thought by the reader.

Written in the first person, this sparkling story traces a young man's physical and spiritual journey through the harsh realities of a dubious college career, crippled marriage and bankrupt lifestyle. Meet Jane, the looming nemesis of a wife who constantly keeps poverty knocking at the door with her credit-card addiction and compulsive lifestyle. The problem is compounded by her husband's inability to adapt to the political regimen of life in a theological seminary and his constant struggle to make ends meet. Whether conducting a funeral service, taking part in field trips or simply trying to accommodate archaic classroom concepts, the author takes his hero through the curriculum with an authority and candor that can only be the result of meticulous research and firsthand experience. Add to this a hatred of hypocrisy and a smoldering rage at the modern-day pharisaic and one has a free-for-all that has rarely been this honestly described. Hard-hitting and leaving little to the imagination, the author has some surprising revelations for all those interested in what goes on behind a ministerial public front. For Heaven's Sake encompasses hilarious scenes both in and out of the pulpit, and is a compelling read. After obtaining a degree in Theology, John Allen pastored a church, teaching subjects as diverse as textual interpretation, end-times theology and public speaking. He has published a number of helpful manuals, a commentary on Revelation and two novels.>/p>

The Inspirational Untold Stories Of Secondary Mathematics Teachers written by Alice F. Artzt and has been published by IAP this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-08-01 with Mathematics categories.
Personal story telling is a powerful and interesting medium through which one can share experiences, insights, successes, and difficulties in meaningful contexts. Teaching in general, and mathematics teaching in particular, is much more than what meets the eye. Most people have only experienced teaching from the vantage point of a student and have impressions of teachers and teaching that are simplistic and usually totally incorrect. The lives of mathematics teachers are varied and contrary to what one might think they are. The journeys of exemplary in-service teachers are not linear; there are many bends, potholes, and detours through which they have navigated. The "road conditions" of teaching are fodder for the 12 untold stories collected in this volume, whose authors graduated from a special four-year undergraduate mathematics teacher preparation program, containing innovative components, many of which are revealed through the experiences described in their stories. The range of narratives vary in every possible way, from the reasons they became mathematics teachers, to the number of years teaching, to the experiences encountered while teaching, to the different roles they have assumed throughout their careers. Nevertheless, one strand permeates all of the stories: their passion for what they do and their ability to reflect on early college experiences that contribute to their performance. These inspiring narratives will shed light on the developmental processes of mathematics teachers, what it means to teach mathematics, and the components of a secondary mathematics teacher preparation program that can contribute to their expertise. Praise for The Inspirational Untold Stories of Secondary Mathematics Teachers: This lovely book contains personal stories about the process of becoming a mathematics teacher and the challenges and rewards of the early years of teaching. These stories highlight that the path to teaching is often indirect, rocky, and filled with doubts. But these poignant stories are powerful because they are so honest. I wish I’d read these stories before I experienced some of the joys and challenges of my early years of teaching because they would have prepared me for the roller coaster of emotion associated with entering this complex but beautiful profession. I think these stories will be helpful when working with prospective and early career teachers. Randolph Philipp Professor of Mathematics Education School of Teacher Education, San Diego State University Immediate Past President, Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators (AMTE) This is a book about real people and true stories; the narratives are really insightful and truly inspirational. It is not only a book that those involved in teacher preparation programs may find useful and informative to read, but also a book that could provide insights and inspiration to those who are exploring what it is like to be a teacher. The journey of each of these success stories, despite the diverse starting point of each, speaks volumes of the importance of an effective teacher preparation program that not only nurtures but also provides support for the growth of the preservice teachers. The narratives in this book are certainly a testimonial to what we often hear–Teachers are more often made than born. The authors of Make Just One Change argue that formulating one’s own questions is “the single most essential skill for learning”—and one that should be taught to all students. They also argue that it should be taught in the simplest way possible. Drawing on twenty years of experience, the authors present the Question Formulation Technique, a concise and powerful protocol that enables learners to produce their own questions, improve their questions, and strategize how to use them. Make Just One Change features the voices and experiences of teachers in classrooms across the country to illustrate the use of the Question Formulation Technique across grade levels and subject areas and with different kinds of learners.
