Willies World 2 is a collection of Christian puppet skits written to teach young boys and girls valuable lessons from Gods Word. In doing so, it is my prayer that they may become better prepared to make right choices as they travel lifes long and often difficult highway. Each week, Willie manages to find himself in one sort of dilemma or another. Together with the help of his friends, his wise grandpa, and the delightful Miss Pickles, he takes on the challenges of being a boy in a rapidly changing world of schoolyard bullies, peer pressure, self-doubt, and facing our greatest fears. Throughout these skits, children will be taught many lessons to help strengthen their faith: Lessons about prayer, forgiveness, obedience and how to get along with others. Lessons about sharing their faith, trusting in God, and loving the unlovable. When all is said and done, Willie learns that the road of life can be fraught with many hazards and wrong turns. But navigating around those hazards becomes much less troublesome when, before embarking on that journey, we allow Gods Word to have its rightful and necessary place as a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path.

The “enormously entertaining and wide-ranging” (Seattle Times) authorized, definitive, New York Times bestselling biography of Willie Mays, the most complete baseball player of all time. Willie Mays is arguably the greatest player in baseball history, still revered for the passion he brought to the game. He began as a teenager in the Negro Leagues, became a cult hero in New York, and was the headliner in Major League Baseball’s bold expansion to California. He was a blend of power, speed, and stylistic bravado that enraptured fans for more than two decades. Now James Hirsch reveals the man behind the player. Mays was a transcendent figure who received standing ovations in enemy stadiums and who, during the turbulent civil rights era, urged understanding and reconciliation. More than his records, his legacy is defined by the pure joy that he brought to fans and the loving memories that have been passed to future generations so they might know the magic and beauty of the game. With meticulous research and drawing on interviews with Mays himself as well as with close friends, family, and teammates, Hirsch presents a brilliant portrait of one of America’s most significant cultural icons.

The Poetics of Childhood investigates the sensibility of childhood and the ways writers try to recapture it. It explores the earliest conceptions of innocence and the development of literature about children through contemporary times. It encompasses the pastoral, the dark pastoral, the anti-pastoral; it addresses picture books, fantasy, and realism. It looks with originality at the literature of childhood, inclusive of children's literature and literature about childhood, so that the child and adult can be seen reflexively--the child in the adult and the various stages of childhood as they are remembered and retained in adulthood. It confronts issues of primal and socially constructed desire adn the use of childhood to talk about desire. It is a poetics, a way of imagining the experience of childhood and explores childhood as a particulary fluid and porous time, it also addresses issues of creativity. This is an essential reference for teachers, parents, artists, and writers.

Willie Nelson written by Joe Nick Patoski and has been published by Little, Brown this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008-04-21 with Biography & Autobiography categories.

From his first performance at age four, Willie Nelson was driven to make music and live life on his own terms. But though he is a songwriter of exceptional depth - "Crazy" was one of his early classics - Willie only found success after abandoning Nashville and moving to Austin, Texas. Red Headed Stranger made country cool to a new generation of fans. Wanted: The Outlaws became the first country album to sell a million copies. And "On the Road Again" became the anthem for Americans on the move. A craggy-faced, pot-smoking philosopher, Willie Nelson is one of America's great iconoclasts and idols. Now Joe Nick Patoski draws on over 100 interviews with Willie and his family, band, and friends to tell Nelson's story, from humble Depression-era roots, to his musical education in Texas honky-tonks and his flirtations with whiskey, women, and weed; from his triumph with #1 hit "Always On My Mind" to his nearly career-ending battles with debt and the IRS; and his ultimate redemption and ascension to American hero
