Renewable energy refers to energy resources that occur naturally and repeatedly in the environmental where it can be harnessed for human benefit that poses no major environmental problems. Wind power is one of leading ones among the new, renewable, clean and cheap resource. It describes the processes by which the wind is used to generate mechanical power or electricity by wind turbines which convert the kinetic energy in wind in to mechanical power. The total quality of this source is extremely large and various with time at any given location. Iraq is an oil country, but this does not prevent the possession of other inexhaustible resources such as solar, hydro and wind power. This book focused toward an wind energy, where the work was divided into four objectives namely; - Wind statistics: The statistical of wind data sets were analyzed using Weibull distribution functions. - Turbulence intensity: It is determine the performance and productivity of the wind turbines. - Wake effect: The effects of upstream on downstream wind turbine. - Financial analysis: Three methods have been used namely cost of energy, the ratio of the total returns, and the payback period.

In this study, wind energy, the formation of this energy, and the necessary stages for the production of electrical energy will be discussed. Then, the countries,Äô investments in wind energy will be mentioned. In the mathematical background, statistical methods and signal processing methods are used in the calculation of wind energy efficiency. In this chapter, a detailed analysis of the use of wind speed data with signal processing techniques will be made using the hourly wind speed data of Istanbul for the last 10 years. This data will be analyzed by the Fourier method. Afterward, analyses will be made with short-time Fourier transform (STFT) and bi-spectrum analysis method, and these results will be compared. The data obtained from the study can be considered as a framework for the wind farms to be constructed.

Discusses the effective harnessing of wind energy in power systems and to maintain the integrity, the purpose of this work is therefore: To identify an appropriate statistical distribution that can estimate the wind speed data and also, to quantify the wind energy potential. To formulate an SDAE (Stochastic Differential-Algebraic Equation) mathematical model of a power system with integration of WECS (Wind Energy Conversion System). To perform numerical solutions of the formulated model to assess the influence of WECS on small signal stability. This work contributes to the following areas: Wind speed stochastic characterisation using statistical techniques. Wind energy resource estimation based on statistical tools. Small signal stability assessment of a power system with the integration of wind energy.
