Kommunikation, Note: 1,0, Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Ob bei der Menü-Wahl im Restaurant, bei der Entscheidung für eine bestimmte politische Partei oder beim Autokauf – tagtäglich sind wir unzähligen Situationen ausgesetzt, in denen versucht wird, unser Handeln auf jede erdenkliche Weise zu beeinflussen. Diese sog. persuasive Kommunikation kann von verschiedenen Gruppen, von Freunden, von Werbetreibenden oder von soziopolitischen Organisationen ausgeübt werden. Sie kann dem Kommunikator nutzen, kann sich aber auch karitativ oder gänzlich neutral verhalten. Fakt ist, dass wir uns den Persuasionversuchen – auch wenn wir um sie wissen – nicht entziehen können. Die Ursprünge der Überredungskunst liegen in der Antike. ARISTOTELES und andere beschrieben mit der Rhetorik ein Mittel zur Beeinflussung von Meinungen und Entscheidungsprozessen. Seit nun mehr 80 Jahren befasst sich auch die Sozialforschung mit Fragen der Einstellungsänderung. In Nachzug des Zweiten Weltkriegs rückten zunächst unter dem Begriff Propagandaforschung Aspekte der Persuasion in das Interesse der Forscher. Einen wichtigen Impuls gab hierbei das United States Department of War, das die Überzeugungswirkung von eigens angefertigten Filmen auf Soldaten der Streitkräfte ergründen wollte. Später waren es vor allem die Forscher um Carl I. Hovland, die durch ihre umfangreichen Yale Studies die Grundlagen für die moderne Persuasionsforschung schufen und die nachfolgende Forschung entscheidend prägten. Der Umfang der vorliegenden Arbeit erlaubt es leider nicht, eine umfassende Darstellung anzubieten und wird sich daher auf einige wenige Aspekte beschränken. Zunächst gilt es, den Begriff Persuasion zu definieren und von anderen verwandten Phänomenen abzugrenzen. Nachfolgend sollen zentrale Punkte der Persuasionsforschung sowie Faktoren im Persuasionsprozess kurz vorgestellt werden. Weiterhin wird der Frage nachgegangen, inwiefern sich ein- oder zweiseitige Argumentationen auf die Effektivität der Persuasion auswirken. Hierzu werden ausgewählte Studien, darunter zwei Metaanalysen, vorgestellt und diskutiert. Ein kurzes Fazit rundet die vorliegende Arbeit ab. Aus Platzgründen können die bedeutenden kognitiven Persuasionstheorien und -modelle nur kurz thematisiert werden. Aus selbigem Grund wird auf die Darstellung statistischer Daten überwiegend verzichtet und diesbezüglich auf die Originalarbeiten verwiesen.
