Mai 1945 markiert zweifellos einen der gravierendsten Einschnitte in der Geschichte, denn dieser Tag bedeutet das Ende des Zweiten Weltkrieges in Europa. Für Deutschland und seine damalige Bevölkerung stellte dieses Datum offenbar den Tag der Befreiung dar, der Eintritt des lang ersehnten Friedens. Doch ganz so einfach war das nicht – der Tag hatte eine weitaus komplexere Bedeutung für das Land und die Menschen, die zwölf Jahre lang an das nationalsozialistische Regime glaubten und davon überzeugt waren, Deutschland werde den Krieg gewinnen. Der 8. Mai war demnach für viele auch ein Tag der Niederlage und Enttäuschung, der beschämenden, bedingungslosen Kapitulation. Dieser legendäre Tag markierte sowohl einen Bruch als auch Kontinuität. Der Krieg war aus, aber die überlebende deutsche Bevölkerung blieb bestehen. Was für eine Gesellschaft blieb zurück? Es herrschte eine Orientierungslosigkeit, denn die Zukunft der Deutschen war ungewiss; ohne jeden Übergang befand sich Deutschland in einem „politisch-kulturellen Vakuum“ . Von heute auf morgen gab es eine dunkle deutsche Vergangenheit, die angenommen, akzeptiert und vor allem hätte verarbeitet werden müssen. In den folgenden Jahren ging alles ziemlich schnell, große geschichtliche Ereignisse überschlugen sich, und zugespitzt formuliert erblühte aus der deutschen Trümmerlandschaft schon bald ein Wirtschaftswunderland. Doch was war während der rasanten Zeit des Wandels mit der deutschen Bevölkerung und ihrer düsteren Vergangenheit geschehen? Wie hatte sich die deutsche Nachkriegsgesellschaft im Laufe der nächsten Jahre entwickelt? Viele Autoren haben diese Fragen zum Gegenstand ihrer Literatur gemacht, sie in ihren Werken thematisiert und zu klären versucht. Einige Schriftsteller - wie Hans Magnus Enzensberger - sind sogar noch einen Schritt weiter gegangen, sie haben die Entwicklung dieser Gesellschaft kritisiert und sich ihrer Literatur, ihrer Dichtung als Sprachrohr bedient, um ihrer Kritik Ausdruck zu verleihen. In diesem Zusammenhang wäre es interessant, sich konkreten Gedichten dieses Literaten anzunähern. Hierbei stellt sich für mich die Frage: Wie und was kritisiert Hans Magnus Enzensberger in seinen Gedichten konjunktur, blindlings und middle class blues im Umgang der deutschen Nachkriegsgesellschaft mit Vergangenheit und Gegenwart?

For Jurgen Moltmann, theological anthropology must be liberating. It should take a stand against dehumanizing images and concepts of human life and point out ways to "true humanity." In his view, a theologian can develop such a liberating anthropology only if he speaks explicitly from the perspective of God's kingdom as conceived in the Bible and the Christian tradition and if he speaks to and in his context, as one who experiences contemporary sufferings and hopes. But how? This book analyzes the development of Moltmann's theology in the light of this quest for a liberating view on human life. It examines the anthropological concerns in the different stages of his theological enterprise: his post-war Trummertheologie, the "loose theological threads" of the 1950s, his theology of hope and promise in the 1960s, his theology of the cross, human rights and play in the 1970s and his ecological and "charismatic" theology of the 1980s and 1990s. Moltmann's theological thinking has taken place consciously at the intersection of personal experiences, historical challenges, biblical testimony and the fundamentals of the Christian tradition. Analyzing his quest for a liberating anthropology in a chronological way, this study therefore gives an impression of the frictions and fault lines of Christian anthropology in the context of the societal changes during the second half of the twentieth century. A concluding chapter discusses some of the problems accentuated in the course of this analysis and evaluates some valuable leads for a Christian anthropology today. TON VAN PROOIJEN submitted this study as his doctoral dissertation at the Free University of Amsterdam. His current research interests include anthropology and politics, particularly the concept of humankind in Christian Democratic political thought.

This open access book looks at the migration of Southern European EU citizens (from Portugal, Spain, Italy, Greece) who move to Northern European Member States (Belgium, France, Germany, United Kingdom) in response to the global economic crisis. Its objective is twofold. First, it identifies the scale and nature of this new Southern European emigration and examines these migrants’ socio-economic integration in Northern European destination countries. This is achieved through an analysis of the most recent data on flows and profiles of this new labour force using sending-country and receiving-country databases. Second, it looks at the politics and policies of immigration, both from the perspective of the sending- and receiving-countries. Analysing the policies and debates about these new flows in the home and host countries’ this book shows how contentious the issue of intra-EU mobility has recently become in the context of the crisis when the right for EU citizens to move within the EU had previously not been questioned for decades. Overall, the strength of this edited volume is that it compiles in a systematic way quantitative and qualitative analysis of these renewed Southern European migration flows and draws the lessons from this changing climate on EU migration.
