My Talent From The King book is a gift from God to me. As I began my journey after finding Jesus, He began to show me and teach me wonderful things about His holy Word. He said in John 14–15 that He would give me a Comforter that would teach and guide me into all truth. This book has summaries of different topics throughout the Bible. There are even a few testimonies written in this book. This book was written to be a disciple (Matthew 28:19–20), to go where I couldn’t go, into people’s homes and lives as they read and found out truth versus the error of false teachers, and I thank God for giving me this gift to share with my brothers and sisters so that we can come to the truth of Jesus. Christ said, “And ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.” In John 10:1–5, Jesus speaks saying to us, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.” In John 10:14–16, Jesus says, “I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine. As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep. And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice [my truth which I have spoken]; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.”

In this book, you will discover the purpose, the importance, and the danger of neglecting your talents & gifts. Have you ever read the Parable of the Talents told by Jesus Himself? If you are like me, you have probably read this parable more times than Congress passed bailouts. However, it was on one particular night that God began to reveal things concerning this parable that I had not previously seen, which I share in this book. In order to overcome rejection even though one may be gifted, it is important to understand who God is and the purpose He created for each of us as an individual. Being gifted relates to being exceptional, proficient, skillful, and talented. It may even classify an individual as an expert or a professional. Oftentimes, it is problematic to understand why there is conflict in our lives. We must contend with good and evil. As a Christian, we are conscientious that we have a God who created us with expectations. We must make an effort to work on our spiritual lives and to live peaceably with all men. A life of discipline is a result of accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. Discipline progresses through intimacy with God. Some distinctive ways to obtain confidence about God is the development of a life of prayer, a life of praise and worship, and a life of wisdom. Even though we have a history or a past of being wounded and bewildered, we should love difficult or ungodly people in spite of wanting acceptance. Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man (Luke 2:52), we also will have wisdom and favor. However, God will grant us favor, and with the right connections, we will have favor with man. Rejection can be a camouflaged blessing. As an individual develops a relationship with our Creator and understands His purpose and plan for our lives, life is rewarding and fulfilling. It is easy to embrace laughter and easier to commune with God without frustration with ourselves and others.

The Parable of the Talents is one of Jesus' best-known teachings: an admonishment to apply and increase our abilities--whatever they are--in the service of God. Undeniably, 'The Talents' has been influential in shaping Christian attitudes toward money, individuality and personal achievement. Yet how well does any of us truly understand this oft-quoted and apparently straightforward lesson? And what does this lesson tell us of the teacher, Jesus? In this fresh new look at the Parable of the Talents, Doris E. Miller traces its Biblical origins, discusses the history of its interpretation, and offers significant new insight into how Jesus may have spent the silent years between his childhood and the beginning of his ministry. Written in a clear narrative voice, the author provides a wealth of scholarship, factual information and literary detective work along with thoughtful reflections on Jesus' life and teachings. Extensive footnotes and an index add to its value for any serious reader of the New Testament. This small volume, Part One of a larger work in progress, is certain to stimulate discussion and provide the basis for many pastoral messages.
