Woeful Wisdom is the story of an alcoholic, from birth through today. It highlights his troubles, his goals and successes. It is aimed at the suffering alcoholic and or their families. Showing how one person managed to dig himself out of the merry go round of alcoholism, exposing many of the troubles and problems of the alcoholic. Hopefully, it will serve as an inspiration to others wishing to unburden themselves of an addiction. Although ?ÇÿWoeful Wisdom is primarily about alcohol recovery, it can be related to drug addiction as well, and many other phases of lifes character defects. The plan is basic; the twelve steps of AA can be applied to most anything one chooses. Just substitute the word ?Çÿalcohol or ?ÇÿAlcoholic with whatever situation is of concern. Returning us to sanity is the goal. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result. The non-alcoholic can certainly gain some insight by reading ?ÇÿWoeful Wisdom, as many things are intended to also deal with everyday life without alcohol as a crutch. The families and friends of the addict also suffer greatly. For their assistance there is Al-Anon, a group similar to AA, but designed for the non alcoholic to deal with, and understand the alcoholic.

The Gift That Keeps On Giving Alcoholism written by Adrian 'Ray' Evans Sr. and has been published by Xlibris Corporation this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-11-30 with Self-Help categories.

Mr. Evans speaks out about alcoholism: I chose the title, ‘THE GIFT...that keeps on giving’ to illuminate that ‘Once an alcoholic, always an alcoholic’. That does not mean one must die a drunk! It simply stresses that alcoholism, like diabetes is a lifetime disease. And like diabetes, with proper care, diet and exercise...And abstaining from alcohol, alcoholism can be controlled. From around age 18 to 49, I suffered from the disease of alcoholism. A good portion of those years, I was not aware of my disease. I could not link my troubles, loss of family, homes, and jobs, and overall misery to alcohol. In the last 8 of those years, I (and others) just wrote me off as a hopeless misfit. I was homeless, unemployable, and a sad example of human existence. December first, 1983, I had my last drink of alcohol, checked myself in at a detox center in Orlando, Fl. I have not had a drink of alcohol since. At first, my recovery process was not a pleasant one, but it was worth the misery of withdrawing from the demon alcohol. I attended Alcoholics Anonymous regularly, listened and absorbed other’s experience, strength, and hope. I became teachable and returned to a beautiful life. After getting re-married I became employable and started my own business. I taught myself art, painting over 500 pieces of oil paintings. Attending the gym regularly has not just been healthful, it has been a tremendous joy, working out, meeting people, and socializing. I am retired now, living a beautiful life with my wife of 33 years, and 36 years sobriety, and at age 86, am fit as a fiddle. I do have diabetes, high blood pressure, and a few other ailments, however, with diet, exercise, and following my doctor’s advice, (and not drinking alcohol or smoking) I am very active and happy. Should I never have admitted I needed help, and joined Alcoholics Anonymous, I would not have re-learned honorable living and not have continued serenity... Is why I consider my alcoholism ‘the gift that keeps on giving.’

Thus Spake Zarathustra written by Friedrich Nietzsche and has been published by Livraria Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on with Philosophy categories.

"Thus Spake Zarathustra" (German: Also sprach Zarathustra) is one of Nietzsche's most famous and influential works, presenting the philosophical journey of the prophet Zarathustra as he seeks to teach humanity about the overman (Übermensch) and the eternal recurrence of all things. The book is an exploration of themes such as power, freedom, and the transformation of human values through Nietzsche mythologized and abstracted ideal man. This philosophical novel is clearly in mimicry of Voltaire's Zadig, and follows the historical figure Zarathustra as he travels and teaches a new philosophy designed to save humanity from the impending Nihilism after the death of god. This trans-humanist perspective argues that humanness (including all morality) is a disease that must be abandoned. Written between 1883 and 1885, this work is a foundational text in Nietzsche’s philosophical corpus. Presented as a philosophical novel, it follows the protagonist Zarathustra, who descends from his mountain solitude to share his profound insights with humanity. The book is structured into four parts, filled with parables and discourses that articulate Nietzsche's key philosophical ideas, such as the Übermensch (Overman), the eternal recurrence, and the death of God. Through Zarathustra's teachings, Nietzsche explores the need for individuals to transcend conventional morality and create their own values in the pursuit of a more meaningful and authentic existence. First published in 1883 by E. W. Fritzsch in Leipzig, Germany, this new 2024 translation of the original 1883 German manuscript includes a new afterword by the translator, a timeline of Nietzsche's life and work, an index with descriptions of his key concepts, and summaries of his complete works. This translation is designed to allow the armchair philosopher to engage deeply with Nietzsche's works without having to be a full-time Academic. The language is modern and clean, with simplified sentence structures and diction to make Nietzsche's complex language and arguments as accessible as possible. This Reader's Edition also contains extra material that amplifies the manuscript with autobiographical, historical and linguistic context. This provides the reader a holistic view of this very enigmatic philosopher as both an introduction and an exploration of Nietzsche's works; from his general understanding of his philosophic project to an exploration of the depths of his metaphysics and unique contributions. This edition contains: • An Afterword by the Translator on the history, impact and intellectual legacy of Nietzsche • Translation notes on the original German, Latin and Greek manuscript • An index of Philosophical concepts used by Nietzsche with a focus on Existentialism and Phenomenology • A chronological list of Nietzsche's entire body of works • A detailed timeline of Nietzsche's life and works

'Enigmatic, vatic, emphatic, passionate . . . Nietzsche's works together make a unique statement in the literature of European ideas' A. C. Grayling Nietzsche was one of the most revolutionary thinkers in Western philosophy, and Thus Spoke Zarathustra remains his most influential work. It describes how the ancient Persian prophet Zarathustra descends from his solitude in the mountains to tell the world that God is dead and that the Superman, the human embodiment of divinity, is his successor. With blazing intensity, Nietzsche argues that the meaning of existence is not to be found in religious pieties or meek submission, but in an all-powerful life force: passionate, chaotic and free. Translated with an introduction by R. J. HOLLINGDALE

In this radical reinterpretation, Mr. Thompson argues that Melville, seeking to disguise his agonized conviction of the cruelty and malice of God, consistently satirized Christian doctrine. He endeavors to show that Melville resorted to literary deceptions that could simultaneously hoodwink and satirize the point of view of his orthodox readers. This bold challenge to the conventional interpretation of Melville is brilliantly presented and fully supported by external and internal evidence in such a way as to reveal a sinister intent in all of the major narratives from Typee through Billy Budd. About the Book Sapiens and Sthitaprajna studies the concept of a wise person in the Stoic Seneca and in the Bhagavadgita. Although the Gita and Seneca’s writings were composed at least two centuries apart and a continent apart, they have much in common in recommending a well-lived life. This book describes how in both a wise person is endowed with both virtue and wisdom, is moral, makes right judgements and takes responsibility for actions. A wise and virtuous person always enjoys happiness, as happiness consists in knowing that one has done the right thing at the right time. Both Seneca and the Gita demand intellectual rigour and wisdom for leading a virtuous and effective life. They provide guidelines for how to become and be wise. Both systems demand a sage to be emotionally sound and devoid of passions. This leads to mental peace and balance, and ultimately tranquillity and happiness. While surveying these similarities, this study also finds differences in their ways of application of these ideas. The metaphysics of the Gita obliges the sage to practise meditation, while the Stoics require a sage to be a rational person committed to analysing and intellectualizing any situation. This comparative study will be of interest to students of both Ancient Western and Ancient Indian Philosophy. Practitioners of Stoicism and followers of the Gita should find the presence of closely-related ideas in a very different tradition of interest while perhaps finding somewhat different prescriptions a spur to action.
