Alcohol Problems In The Community written by Larry Harrison and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2002-05-03 with Medical categories.

Community surveys reveal that about 6% of the adult male and 1% of the adult female population in England and Wales are drinking at high risk levels. Alcohol Problems in the Community examines the implications of recent community care legislation for government policy on alcohol. The first part of the book begins with a report on recent US research on the role of alcohol in the perpetration of child abuse and recent research on young people's drinking problems. This is followed by a study on the prevalence of drinking problems amongst older people which has been underestimated. In the second half of the book empirical evidence is presented on the particular difficulties faced by ethnic, migrant and homeless groups and this emphasis on the centrality of social disadvantage leads on to a consideration of a specific social work role in the assessment and management of alcohol-related problems. Alcohol Problems in the Community is aimed at social work practitioners and students on prequalifying, qualifying and postqualifying social work courses, and it addresses key social work issues in relation to poverty, homelessness, discrimination and drinking problems.

Additionally, societal and cultural norms may restrict their entrepreneurial activities and access to markets. Building resiliency for rural women entrepreneurs involves addressing these barriers through targeted interventions. By creating and enabling environments that address these specific needs, rural women can strengthen their entrepreneurial ventures, foster economic independence, and contribute to the broader community’s development. Examining Barriers and Building Resiliency for Rural Women Entrepreneurs discusses the multifaceted challenges faced by women in rural areas seeking to start and grow their own businesses. The Oxford Handbook Of Emotion Social Cognition And Problem Solving In Adulthood written by Paul Verhaeghen and has been published by Oxford University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-03-20 with Psychology categories.

Over the last decade, the field of socio-emotional development and aging has rapidly expanded, with many new theories and empirical findings emerging. This trend is consistent with the broader movement in psychology to consider social, motivational, and emotional influences on cognition and behavior. The Oxford Handbook of Emotion, Social Cognition, and Problem Solving in Adulthood provides the first overview of a new field of adult development that has emerged out of conceptualizations and research at the intersections between socioemotional development, social cognition, emotion, coping, and everyday problem solving. This field roundly rejects a universal deficit model of aging, highlighting instead the dynamic nature of socio-emotional development and the differentiation of individual trajectories of development as a function of variation in contextual and experiential influences. It emphasizes the need for a cross-level examination (from biology and neuroscience to cognitive and social psychology) of the determinants of emotional and socio-emotional behavior. This volume also serves as a tribute to the late Fredda Blanchard-Fields, whose thinking and empirical research contributed extensively to a life-span developmental view of emotion, problem solving, and social cognition. Its chapters cover multiple aspects of adulthood and aging, presenting developmental perspectives on emotion; antecedents and consequences of emotion in context; everyday problem solving; social cognition; goals and goal-related behaviors; and wisdom. The landmark volume in this new field, The Oxford Handbook of Emotion, Social Cognition, and Problem Solving in Adulthood is an important resource for cognitive, developmental, and social psychologists, as well as researchers and graduate students in the field of aging, emotion studies, and social psychology.

Mediating Social Challenges written by Eva Bauer and has been published by transcript Verlag this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2025-03-27 with Education categories.

In the face of social inequalities, digital divides, hegemonic power relations, capitalist conflicts of interests, asymmetric gender relations and international border and migration regimes, educational and social actions are becoming more challenging. Mediating these social challenges demands new methods and approaches. Thus, the contributors to this volume use critical pedagogies to reflect on art, literature, storytelling, and digital methods as a means to mediating social challenges in teaching practices. The contributions challenge normative perceptions of identity while also promoting students' multiliteracy skills.
