Wondering About is the personal journey of a mind that has used imagination, curiosity, and wonder to try to make sense of the world using science as the bedrock of the road taken. The journey is personal in that Mr. Strumfels has recently discovered that he suffers from Aspergers? Syndrome, a form of high-functioning autism that makes relating to other human beings extraordinarily difficult. Through the many sufferings of this condition prior to Mr. Strumfels?s diagnosis, his curiosity and passion to understand have allowed him to keep asking questions and develop his own mind to where he can share it with others. - Xlibris Podcast Part 1: http://www.xlibrispodcasts.com/wondering-about-1 - Xlibris Podcast Part 2: http://www.xlibrispodcasts.com/wondering-about-2 - Xlibris Podcast Part 3: http://www.xlibrispodcasts.com/wondering-about-3 - Xlibris Podcast Part 4: http://www.xlibrispodcasts.com/wondering-about-4 - Xlibris Podcast Part 5: http://www.xlibrispodcasts.com/wondering-about-5

Wondering About The Impossible On The Semantics Of Counterpossibles written by Maciej Sendłak and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-07-26 with Philosophy categories.
This book provides an in-depth analysis of the nature and role of hypothetical reasoning about impossibilities. The interest in this subject stems from the simple observation that wondering is an inherent aspect of our experience. Whether one regrets choosing a taxicab over the subway or contemplates the outcome of an election turning out differently, the question 'What would have happened if...?' is a familiar one. While we often focus on possible scenarios, we also ponder impossible ones: What if whales were fish? What if a man could be in two places at once? What if one could draw a round square? Puzzles concerning such questions sparked a heated discussion over the nature and role of hypothetical reasoning about impossibilities. This book goes beyond being an opinionated introduction to this debate. After comparing various approaches to this issue, it proposes a novel perspective that draws on considerations from epistemology and the philosophy of explanation and dependence. Targeting researchers and students interested in the philosophy of modalities, this book delivers an in-depth analysis of a captivating and often overlooked aspect of human reasoning.

Matw N C Wondering About Now And Then And Everything Everywhere written by Nia To Go There and has been published by Modern History Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on with Poetry categories.
The overall theme for this collection is a deeply felt sense of wonder about everything everywhere. This is the Cree sense of matwân cî. Nia's poetry is at times mystical, playful and humorous, poignant and painful, and inspiring. Her poetic observations are a philosophical critique of an increasingly mechanized world with its digitized heartbeat. Above all, her poems are an invitation to be aware of the expanse and beauty of knowing we are in-separate and permeable, birthed, and rooted in an ancient past and integral to a life that arcs toward connection and wholeness. "This poet holds the stories, the language, the dances, and visions of the sacred animals. She stands between worlds. The healing involves all of us and needs our awareness, our differences, our likeness to weave together what has been separated in and among all of us." - Christin Lore Weber, author of No This But This "Nia To Go There's new collection of poems often requires a good amount of sitting with. As a wild tangling and untangling of contemporary cultural worldviews (and their horrors) with traditional lifeways and experiences, to go there's poems illuminate, challenge, inspire and educate. Rich with imagery and at times deeply personal, the poems collected here flourish with multiple readings. So, I urge you, reader, to not put matwân cî on a timer. Allow the poems every moment they deserve, every moment they require of you. You will be better for the conversation." - Chris La Tray, Montana Poet Laureate 2023-2025, Little Shell Tribe of Chippewa Indians "In the insanities of our world today, matwân cî reminds us to take a moment to be still... to experience deeply, profoundly a journey into the language of the unknown, yet known. A reminder of who we are. An invitation to become fully self, loving other." - Wanda Daniel, Earth Minister We are both visible and invisible. We are sacred and must open ourselves to our own story...waiting to be told." With these words Nia To Go There invites us to accompany her on a journey into an ancient space that transcends time, to a place in which first peoples live within the sacred sphere of the earth. She is re-minding us in matwân cî of the language and practices of her ancestors. To go there offers a way to bring these languages and practices into our own stories, which wait to weave us into the fabric of the living cosmos. Spoken in many different voices of native people, these poems and reflections, simply, offer profound love to the world. - Kathleen Jesme, author of The Loneliness of a Planet Without a Moon From Modern History Press

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • A PARADE BEST KIDS BOOK OF ALL TIME • Millions of people have fallen in love with Auggie Pullman, an ordinary boy with an extraordinary face—who shows us that kindness brings us together no matter how far apart we are. Read the book that inspired the Choose Kind movement, a major motion picture, and the critically acclaimed graphic novel White Bird. And don't miss R.J. Palacio's highly anticipated new novel, Pony, available now! I won't describe what I look like. Whatever you're thinking, it's probably worse. August Pullman was born with a facial difference that, up until now, has prevented him from going to a mainstream school. Starting 5th grade at Beecher Prep, he wants nothing more than to be treated as an ordinary kid—but his new classmates can’t get past Auggie’s extraordinary face. Beginning from Auggie’s point of view and expanding to include his classmates, his sister, her boyfriend, and others, the perspectives converge to form a portrait of one community’s struggle with empathy, compassion, and acceptance. In a world where bullying among young people is an epidemic, this is a refreshing new narrative full of heart and hope. R.J. Palacio has called her debut novel “a meditation on kindness” —indeed, every reader will come away with a greater appreciation for the simple courage of friendship. Auggie is a hero to root for, a diamond in the rough who proves that you can’t blend in when you were born to stand out.

The Knowability Paradox written by Jonathan L. Kvanvig and has been published by Oxford University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2006-02-09 with Language Arts & Disciplines categories.
The paradox of knowability, derived from a proof by Frederic Fitch in 1963, is one of the deepest paradoxes concerning the nature of truth. Jonathan Kvanvig argues that the depth of the paradox has not been adequately appreciated. It has long been known that the paradox threatens antirealist conceptions of truth according to which truth is epistemic. If truth is epistemic, what better way to express that idea than to maintain that all truths are knowable? In the face of theparadox, however, such a characterization threatens to undermine antirealism. If Fitch's proof is valid, then one can be an antirealist of this sort only by endorsing the conclusion of the proof that all truths are known.Realists about truth have tended to stand on the sidelines and cheer the difficulties faced by their opponents from Fitch's proof. Kvanvig argues that this perspective is wholly unwarranted. He argues that there are two problems raised by the paradox, one that threatens antirealism about truth and the other that threatens everybody's view about truth, realist or antirealist. The problem facing antirealism has had a number of proposed solutions over the past 40 years, and the results have notbeen especially promising with regard to the first problem. The second problem has not even been acknowledged, however, and the proposals regarding the first problem are irrelevant to the second problem. This book thus provides a thorough investigation of the literature on the paradox, and also proposes a solution to the deeper of the two problems raised by Fitch's proof. It provides a complete picture of the paradoxicality that results from Fitch's proof, and presents a solution to the paradox that claims to address both problems raised by the original proof.

Eighteenth Century Fiction And The Reinvention Of Wonder written by Sarah Tindal Kareem and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014 with Literary Criticism categories.
A footprint materializes mysteriously on a deserted shore; a giant helmet falls from the sky; a traveler awakens to find his horse dangling from a church steeple. Eighteenth-century British fiction brims with moments such as these, in which the prosaic rubs up against the marvelous. While it is a truism that the period's literature is distinguished by its realism and air of probability, Eighteenth-Century Fiction and the Reinvention of Wonder argues that wonder is integral to--rather than antithetical to--the developing techniques of novelistic fiction. Positioning its reader on the cusp between recognition and estrangement, between faith and doubt, modern fiction hinges upon wonder. Eighteenth-Century Fiction and the Reinvention of Wonder's chapters unfold its new account of British fiction's rise through surprising new readings of classic early novels-from Daniel Defoe's Robinson Crusoe to Jane Austen's Northanger Abbey--as well as bringing to attention lesser known works, most notably Rudolf Raspe's Baron Munchausen's Narrative of His Marvellous Travels. In this bold new account, the eighteenth century bears witness not to the world's disenchantment but rather to wonder's re-location from the supernatural realm to the empirical world, providing a re-evaluation not only of how we look back at the Enlightenment, but also of how we read today.
