The book in hand grew out of the authors' current research and their long-continued experience in teaching mathematics and mechanics. In a wide sense, it aims at mathematical modeling of mechanical objects and their exploitation. This is done in a bit unconventional way by concentrating on the special object class worm-like locomotion systems and in proceeding with no use of recent sophisticated mathematical tools which most likely cannot be handled by freshmen in engineering or mathematics. Nevertheless, this does not harm the stringent line the physical object to the analytical interpretation of the final mathematical model. The basic model spiked worm in a straight line enables the authors to come up with a fairly self-contained theory which then allows one to study effects of friction and control. The considered system class has its importance in practice (motion in narrow canals, e.g.), but this book is not with an orientation to design and application, the theory developed here should rather be seen as a contribution to bionics.

Dynamical Systems In Applications written by Jan Awrejcewicz and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-09-01 with Mathematics categories.

The book is intended for all those who are interested in application problems related to dynamical systems. It provides an overview of recent findings on dynamical systems in the broadest sense. Divided into 46 contributed chapters, it addresses a diverse range of problems. The issues discussed include: Finite Element Analysis of optomechatronic choppers with rotational shafts; computational based constrained dynamics generation for a model of a crane with compliant support; model of a kinetic energy recuperation system for city buses; energy accumulation in mechanical resonance; hysteretic properties of shell dampers; modeling a water hammer with quasi-steady and unsteady friction in viscoelastic conduits; application of time-frequency methods for the assessment of gas metal arc welding conditions; non-linear modeling of the human body’s dynamic load; experimental evaluation of mathematical and artificial neural network modeling for energy storage systems; interaction of bridge cables and wake in vortex-induced vibrations; and the Sommerfeld effect in a single DOF spring-mass-damper system with non-ideal excitation.

This book features selected papers presented at the 15th International Conference on Electromechanics and Robotics “Zavalishin's Readings” – ER(ZR) 2020, held in Ufa, Russia, on 15–18 April 2020. The contributions, written by professionals, researchers and students, cover topics in the field of automatic control systems, electromechanics, electric power engineering and electrical engineering, mechatronics, robotics, automation and vibration technologies. The Zavalishin's Readings conference was established as a tribute to the memory of Dmitry Aleksandrovich Zavalishin (1900–1968) – a Russian scientist, corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Sciences and founder of the school of valve energy converters based on electric machines and valve converters energy. The first conference was organized by the Institute of Innovative Technologies in Electromechanics and Robotics at the Saint Petersburg State University of Aerospace Instrumentation in 2006.

Colloidal Magnetic Fluids written by Stefan Odenbach and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009-04-20 with Science categories.

Research into the fascinating properties and applications of magnetic fluids - also called ferrofluids - is rapidly growing, making it necessary to provide, at regular intervals, a coherent and tutorial account of the combined theoretical and experimental advances in the field. This volume is an outgrow of seven years of research by some 30 interdisciplinary groups of scientists: theoretical physicists describing the behaviour of such complex fluids, chemical engineers synthesizing nanosize magnetic particles, experimentalist measuring the fluid properties and mechanical engineers exploring the many applications such fluids offer, in turn providing application-guided feedback to the modellers and requests for the preparation of new fluid types to chemists, in particular those providing optimum response to given magnetic field configurations. Moreover, recent developments towards biomedical applications widens this spectrum to include medicine and pharmacology. Consisting of six large chapters on synthesis and characterization, thermo- and electrodynamics, surface instabilities, structure and rheology, biomedical applications as well as engineering and technical applications, this work is both a unique source of reference for anyone working in the field and a suitable introduction for newcomers to the field.

Nonlinear dynamics has been enjoying a vast development for nearly four decades resulting in a range of well established theory, with the potential to significantly enhance performance, effectiveness, reliability and safety of physical systems as well as offering novel technologies and designs. By critically appraising the state of the art, it is now time to develop design criteria and technology for new generation products/processes operating on principles of nonlinear interaction and in the nonlinear regime, leading to more effective, sensitive, accurate, and durable methods than what is currently available. This new approach is expected to radically influence the design, control and exploitation paradigms, in a magnitude of contexts. With a strong emphasis on experimentally calibrated and validated models, contributions by top-level international experts will foster future directions for the development of engineering technologies and design using robust nonlinear dynamics modelling and analysis.
