Drawing Straight With Crooked Lines is a novel about how God uses flawed and imperfect people to carry out his perfect plan. The main character, Rocky Gates, is a disbarred, drug addicted lawyer who has lost all hope and tries to end his life. However, God personally intervenes and informs Rocky that he has been chosen to deliver a special to all the inhabitants of Earth. The message is imparted to Rocky over the course of one week, while he walks through a series of self-imposed crisis and tribulations. The book illustrates how the power of God can transform a human life, no matter how far down the ladder we may have fallen. It also demonstrates the unique love the Heavenly Father has for all His children and the lengths He will go to show us this love. This cleverly written book mixes humor and wit to carry its timeless message of hope.

Excerpt from The Crooked Lines of God: Poems 1949-1954 So my new poetic vision, begun with a blaze back at conversion, slowly came to nothing. I wanted to write a great double work. I wanted to balance those fifteen years of a pagan pen with fifteen years of a holy one, the profane and the sacred. Out of the residual years of death I wanted to make an attestation to the veritable years of eternal life. But God is not so pat. He has other uses for a life than the balancing of books. The Divine Writing goes forward with an excoriate straightness, but never in the manner one supposes; nor does it ever relate precisely what one hopes to hear. I have written, but What I have written is undone, not done. I have labored to make a birth of my life, but it becomes, in retrospect, only a long c'rooked line. This much, however, I do know; and given the nature of Reality it cannot be otherwise: all my Violations, virulent as they are, in the end can only make for the good. My evil cannot win out. The Holy Trinity And The Law Of Three written by Cynthia Bourgeault and has been published by Shambhala Publications this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-07-09 with Religion categories.

Just as she's done in her previous books, Cynthia Bourgeault asks us to take a look at an idea from traditional Christianity—this time the formula of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—as though we're looking at it for the first time. And as usual, she reveals it to be something we hadn't expected at all. She finds in the idea of the Holy Trinity a striking vision of the nature of reality. What she claims, in a nutshell, is that embedded within this theological formula that Christians recite mostly on autopilot lies a powerful metaphysical principle that could change our understanding of Christianity and give us the tools so long and so sorely needed to reunite our shattered cosmology, rekindle our visionary imagination, and cooperate consciously with the manifestation of Jesus's "Kingdom of Heaven" here on earth. She looks to the history of Christian theology, to her own years of contemplative practice, and to the ideas of G. I. Gurdjieff. Her tone is, as ever, as accessible as it is compelling, and it's a wild ride. "I will do my best to make the ride as smooth as possible," she says, "but in the end, my commitment is to getting there, because I know beyond all personal doubt that there is indeed a ham radio concealed inside this Trinitarian tea cupboard. And in the midst of this long winter of our Christian discontent, when spiritual imagination and boldness are at an all-time low and the church itself hovers at the edge of demise for lack of an animating vision, perhaps now more than ever the time is ripe to remove the packing boards from this tea cupboard and release its contents."

God Evolution And Animal Suffering written by Bethany N. Sollereder and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-10-29 with Religion categories.

After the publication of On the Origin of Species in 1859, theologians were faced with the dilemma of God creating through evolution. Suddenly, pain, suffering, untimely death and extinction appeared to be the very tools of creation, and not a result of the sin of humanity. Despite this paradigm shift, the question of non-human suffering has been largely overlooked within theodicy debates, overwhelmed by the extreme human suffering of the twentieth century. This book redresses this imbalance by offering a rigorous academic treatment of the questions surrounding God and the suffering of non-human animals. Combining theological, philosophical, and biblical perspectives, this book explores the relationship between God and Creation within Christian theology. First it dismantles the popular theological view that roots violence and suffering in the animal kingdom in the fall of humanity. Then, through an exploration of the nature of love, it affirms that there are multiple reasons to suggest that God and creation can both be "good", even with the presence of violence and suffering. This is an innovative exploration of an under-examined subject that encompasses issues of theology, science, morality and human-animal interactions. As such, it will be of keen interest to scholars and academics of religion and science, the philosophy of religion, theodicy, and biblical studies.
