Buya Haji Awiskarni Husin (1945-2020) adalah salah seorang ulama yang masyhur di Minangkabau. Ia adalah anak sekaligus murid dari Syekh Husin Amin, seorang ulama Syafi'iyah dan syekh Tarikat Nazqsyabandi ternama di Sumatera Tengah pada dekade ketiga abad 20. Syekh Husin sendiri belajar fikih Syafi'i pada Syekh Sulaiman Arrasuli. Sedangkan Syekh Sulaiman Arrasuli adalah murid dari Syekh Ahmad Khatib Al-Minangkabawi, salah seorang Imam dalam mazhab Syafii di Haramain. Jadi Buya Haji Awiskarni adalah ulama syafi'iyah generasi ketiga setelah Syekh Ahmad Khatib. Buya Awiskarni telah berjasa dalam mengembangkan ilmu pengetahuan dan pendidikan Islam. Darinya telah banyak lahir para ulama di sepanjang pulau Sumatera. Sehingga Buya Awiskarni Husin disebut oleh Muhammad Yusuf El-Badri sebagai Guru Seribu Ulama Minangkabau.
