I Am Right, You Are Wrong is THE classic work about choice in business and in life from world-renowned writer and philosopher Edward de Bono. Most of our everyday decision-making tends to be confrontational. Whether in large meetings, one-to-one or even in our own heads, opposite view points are pitted against each other. Ultimately, there must be a winner and a loser. In I Am Right,You Are Wrong, lateral-thinking guru Edward de Bono challenges this 'rock logic' of rigid categories and point-scoring arguments which is both destructive and exhausting. Instead he reveals how we can all be winners. Clearer perception is the key to constructive thinking and more open-minded creativity. In overturning conventional wisdom, Edward de Bono will help you to become a better thinker and decision maker. 'An inspiring man with brilliant ideas. De Bono never ceases to amaze with his clarity of thought' Sir Richard Branson

This text covers the major controversies and "myths" in each of the major anesthesia subspecialties. You're Wrong, I'm Right is designed to be an easy and engaging evidence based read that offers the fast-paced give-and-take of a debate between two experts at the top of their game--capturing their full argument, including expressions of humor and displays of temper. Each point of contention begins with a real case, carefully selected to encapsulate the argument. One author then argues the "pro" side and another the "con." Sometimes a single author may argue both sides. In doing so, the authors highlight the newest evidence and remind us of classic principles that have stood the test of time. At the end of the debate, readers can determine which argument they will use in their clinical practice, and may also consult a final "Consensus” section that identifies the editors' and contributors' "picks" of the one best practice in a range of different situations.

They happen every day -- those frustrating, circular "I'm right, you're wrong!" arguments. What's at risk may be as life-changing as whether or not your kid drops out of college, your aging parent goes into a nursing home, or your boss gives you the promotion you want. Or it may be as commonplace as getting the insurance company to approve your claim. These situations often frustrate both parties, stall progress, and hurt relationships. But they don't have to. In I'm Right, You're Wrong, Now What? Dr. Xavier Amador, a Columbia University professor and clinical psychologist shows you how to break nearly any impasse and persuade your opponent -- for that's what people become when you've reached an impasse -- to give you what you need. I'm Right, You're Wrong, Now What is based on Dr. Amador's LISTEN-EMPATHIZE-AGREE-PARTNER (LEAP) method. A highly successful program that has been taught to tens of thousands of people in seminars around the U.S. and overseas, LEAP teaches you how to turn even toxic arguments into healthy disagreements that end with you getting what you need. Built on timeless psychological truths and new research, LEAP is a roadmap for improving the quality and health of any relationship. LEAP will actually show you how to convince the other person to help you, while increasing mutual respect and trust. Perhaps most importantly, it will help you make that all-important distinction between what you want and what you need. Dr. Amador's LEAP program includes techniques on how to: diffuse anger and lower defenses get past stubbornness and even denial make your opponent ask for your opinion . . . instead of railing against it turn adversaries into allies create positive and productive relationships At home, at work and in life, LEAP demonstrates how winning is not about hearing the other person say "You're right," it's about getting him to give you what you need--even when he doesn't agree with you.

" Kidnapped and sold to an unscrupulous animal shelter owner, Dash, an arrogant purebred Jack Russell terrier, finds the charms that worked so well in his old world of blue ribbons and the Westminster Dog Show are useless in his new circumstances. Dot, a street-smart Dalmatian captured during her thousand-mile trek back to where she was born, knows she is just days away from being taken from the cage where she has been imprisoned through the Black Door--a room from which no dog has ever returned. Dash learns that he is to be sold to someone who is rumored to eat dogs. When Dot reveals she has a plan to escape the shelter, he demands she take him with her. Dot has no intention of helping the obnoxious little terrier until she discovers her plan won't succeed without his help. The misfits escape, but at the cost of Dot's hearing. When Dash's naivete causes him to be recaptured, Dot must decide whether to continue on her journey half-deaf or try to free Dash, who tends to be more irritating than helpful. The Perilous Adventures of Dot and Dash is an adventure story of a pair of mismatched dogs trying to trust one another as they make their way in a dangerous world of cruel humans and wild dogs, hungry fisher cats and angry beavers, raging rivers and bitter cold. The Marriage Clinic A Scientifically Based Marital Therapy written by John M. Gottman and has been published by W. W. Norton & Company this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1999-08-17 with Psychology categories.

The Marriage Clinic presents a complete marital therapy program based on John Gottman's much heralded research on marital success and failure. Here one will find not only a wide range of succinct and useful assessment procedures, but also a highly specific, research-based, and modularized treatment program. In addition, there are dozens of questionnaires and interview protocols to be used in both assessment and intervention. In prospective, long-term research with over 700 couples, Gottman has discovered certain factors that distinguish happy, stable couples from both unstable, ultimately divorcing couples and stable but unhappy couples. These findings, which are explained here in understandable, nontechnical language, form the basis of his Sound Marital House theory of marriage, which guides the new therapy. This therapy has two goals: changing the marital friendship and teaching couples to regulate conflict. Despite the high aims of much marital therapy, Gottman found that most marital conflicts involve fundamentally unresolvable relationship issues called "perpetual problems." He shows how therapists can help spouses move from gridlock to dialogue on these issues. Solvable problems can be resolved more easily when the couple has a strong marital friendship. He gives therapists the tools to teach spouses five fundamental skills to develop and strengthen their friendship: softened start-up, accepting influence, repair and de-escalation, compromise, and physiological soothing. Gottman compares his clinic to a restaurant, where clients are offered a menu of treatment formats, from psychoeducation for specific issues to extended therapy to repair a badly damaged marital friendship. Therapists, too, can choose among the questionnaires and strategies for those that fit the needs of particular couples. Whatever their choice, they will find that their practice is greatly enriched by the scientifically-based offerings of The Marriage Clinic.
