Die Physik von der Relativitätstheorie zur Quantenmechanik hat im letzten Jahrhundert unser Verständnis für das Wesen der Zeit erheblich erweitert. Es zeigt sich, dass Bibel und moderne Physik das Wesen der Zeit weitaus ähnlicher sehen als viele denken. Im dritten Teil wird das Zeitverständnis frühgriechischer Philosophie analysiert. Viele ihrer Gedanken werden heute in der Physik diskutiert. Heraklit ist mit seinem »Alles fließt« nahe am sogenannten Zeitpfeil der Physik. Parmenides stellt fest: Das Seiende i s t, hinter dem Erfahrbaren bleibt alles zeitlich und räumlich unverändert. Parallelen zu biblischen Aussagen sind hier offensichtlich, aber auch neueste Erkenntnisse der Physik tendieren in diese Richtung.
