Sexualität wird heute wie nie zuvor öffentlich in Zeitschriften, Fernsehen und vor allem im Internet in zumeist pornografischer Weise vorgeführt und beeinflusst erheblich Vorstellungen und Praxis der Sexualität Jugendlicher. Ein exzessives Sexualleben, Pornokonsum, frühe Schwangerschaften, ständiger Partnerwechsel und Desinteresse an der emotionalen Basis des sexuellen Handelns werden als Symptome der Verwahrlosung genannt. Aus diesem Grund ist der Wandel von Sexualität und Beziehungen Jugendlicher ein untersuchungswürdiges Phänomen. Meine Forschungsfrage lautet: Kann man im Bezug auf das Sexualverhalten und die Sexualmoral von Jugendlichen von einer „sexuell verwahrlosten Jugend“ sprechen? Da die These über die „sexuell verwahrloste Jugend“, eine von den Medien hervorgebrachte und eher unbegründete These ist, gilt es, sie mithilfe von Studien und Forschungserkenntnissen zu hinterfragen. Diese Ausarbeitung setzt sich im ersten Teil mit historischen und aktuellen gesellschaftstheoretischen und sexualwissenschaftlichen Theorien, zum Wandel von Sexualität und explizit Jugendsexualität auseinander. Zu allererst soll geklärt werden, inwieweit sich Sexualität gewandelt hat, im Hinblick auf die Liberalisierung der Sexualität in den 60er- und frühen 70er-Jahren. Anschließend befasst sich dieses Kapitel mit der Frage nach dem Wandel der Jugendsexualität. Bereits hier werde ich auf einige nennenswerte empirische Befunde von Gunter Schmidt eingehen. Dieses Kapitel bildet den theoretischen Rahmen und dient als Vorarbeit für das dritte Kapitel. Des Weiteren wird auf den ersten Geschlechtsverkehr eingegangen. An dieser Stelle ist es wichtig, anhand von empirischen Daten von Matthiesen, Schmidt, Klein und der PARTNER 4-Studie, festzustellen, ob es eine Vor oder Nachverlagerung des ersten Geschlechtsverkehrs gibt. Das heißt, ob die mediale Aussage, dass Jugendliche immer früher Sex haben, berechtigt ist. An dieser Stelle ist eine Differenzierung der Jugendlichen anhand von Bildungshintergründen, bzw. Schultypen wichtig, um herauszufinden, ob diese die sexuelle Aktivität beeinflussen.
