The goal of the Entropy and the Quantum schools has been to introduce young researchers to some of the exciting current topics in mathematical physics. These topics often involve analytic techniques that can easily be understood with a dose of physical intuition. In March of 2010, four beautiful lectures were delivered on the campus of the University of Arizona. They included Isoperimetric Inequalities for Eigenvalues of the Laplacian by Rafael Benguria, Universality of Wigner Random Matrices by Laszlo Erdos, Kinetic Theory and the Kac Master Equation by Michael Loss, and Localization in Disordered Media by Gunter Stolz. Additionally, there were talks by other senior scientists and a number of interesting presentations by junior participants. The range of the subjects and the enthusiasm of the young speakers are testimony to the great vitality of this field, and the lecture notes in this volume reflect well the diversity of this school.

Stochastic Analysis For Poisson Point Processes written by Giovanni Peccati and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-07-07 with Mathematics categories.

Stochastic geometry is the branch of mathematics that studies geometric structures associated with random configurations, such as random graphs, tilings and mosaics. Due to its close ties with stereology and spatial statistics, the results in this area are relevant for a large number of important applications, e.g. to the mathematical modeling and statistical analysis of telecommunication networks, geostatistics and image analysis. In recent years – due mainly to the impetus of the authors and their collaborators – a powerful connection has been established between stochastic geometry and the Malliavin calculus of variations, which is a collection of probabilistic techniques based on the properties of infinite-dimensional differential operators. This has led in particular to the discovery of a large number of new quantitative limit theorems for high-dimensional geometric objects. This unique book presents an organic collection of authoritative surveys written by the principal actors in this rapidly evolving field, offering a rigorous yet lively presentation of its many facets.

This book presents the refereed proceedings of the Twelfth International Conference on Monte Carlo and Quasi-Monte Carlo Methods in Scientific Computing that was held at Stanford University (California) in August 2016. These biennial conferences are major events for Monte Carlo and quasi-Monte Carlo researchers. The proceedings include articles based on invited lectures as well as carefully selected contributed papers on all theoretical aspects and applications of Monte Carlo and quasi-Monte Carlo methods. Offering information on the latest developments in these very active areas, this book is an excellent reference resource for theoreticians and practitioners interested in solving high-dimensional computational problems, arising in particular, in finance, statistics, computer graphics and the solution of PDEs.

Log Gases And Random Matrices Lms 34 written by Peter J. Forrester and has been published by Princeton University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010-07-01 with Mathematics categories.

Random matrix theory, both as an application and as a theory, has evolved rapidly over the past fifteen years. Log-Gases and Random Matrices gives a comprehensive account of these developments, emphasizing log-gases as a physical picture and heuristic, as well as covering topics such as beta ensembles and Jack polynomials. Peter Forrester presents an encyclopedic development of log-gases and random matrices viewed as examples of integrable or exactly solvable systems. Forrester develops not only the application and theory of Gaussian and circular ensembles of classical random matrix theory, but also of the Laguerre and Jacobi ensembles, and their beta extensions. Prominence is given to the computation of a multitude of Jacobians; determinantal point processes and orthogonal polynomials of one variable; the Selberg integral, Jack polynomials, and generalized hypergeometric functions; Painlevé transcendents; macroscopic electrostatistics and asymptotic formulas; nonintersecting paths and models in statistical mechanics; and applications of random matrix theory. This is the first textbook development of both nonsymmetric and symmetric Jack polynomial theory, as well as the connection between Selberg integral theory and beta ensembles. The author provides hundreds of guided exercises and linked topics, making Log-Gases and Random Matrices an indispensable reference work, as well as a learning resource for all students and researchers in the field.

This book is dedicated to the memory of Mikael Passare, an outstanding Swedish mathematician who devoted his life to developing the theory of analytic functions in several complex variables and exploring geometric ideas first-hand. It includes several papers describing Mikael’s life as well as his contributions to mathematics, written by friends of Mikael’s who share his attitude and passion for science. A major section of the book presents original research articles that further develop Mikael’s ideas and which were written by his former students and co-authors. All these mathematicians work at the interface of analysis and geometry, and Mikael’s impact on their research cannot be underestimated. Most of the contributors were invited speakers at the conference organized at Stockholm University in his honor. This book is an attempt to express our gratitude towards this great mathematician, who left us full of energy and new creative mathematical ideas.

Zeros Of Gaussian Analytic Functions And Determinantal Point Processes written by and has been published by American Mathematical Soc. this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on with Mathematics categories.

"The book examines in some depth two important classes of point processes, determinantal processes and "Gaussian zeros", i.e., zeros of random analytic functions with Gaussian coefficients. These processes share a property of "point-repulsion", where distinct points are less likely to fall close to each other than in processes, such as the Poisson process, that arise from independent sampling. Nevertheless, the treatment in the book emphasizes the use of independence: for random power series, the independence of coefficients is key; for determinantal processes, the number of points in a domain is a sum of independent indicators, and this yields a satisfying explanation of the central limit theorem (CLT) for this point count. Another unifying theme of the book is invariance of considered point processes under natural transformation groups. The book strives for balance between general theory and concrete examples. On the one hand, it presents a primer on modern techniques on the interface of probability and analysis. On the other hand, a wealth of determinantal processes of intrinsic interest are analyzed; these arise from random spanning trees and eigenvalues of random matrices, as well as from special power series with determinantal zeros. The material in the book formed the basis of a graduate course given at the IAS-Park City Summer School in 2007; the only background knowledge assumed can be acquired in first-year graduate courses in analysis and probability."--Publisher's website.
