Volumul Doine şi Dore ne oferă un discurs limpede, nuanţat, excelând prin simplitatea construcţiei şi profunzimea semnificaţiilor, alcătuită din piese care pot fi considerate părţi ale aceluiaşi poem, deopotrivă al destinului şi al dragostei. Este semnificativ, în acest sens, îndemnul adresat Sânzianei Batişte de către Monica Lovinescu şi Virgil Ierunca, după citirea acestui volum: „Nu vă fie teamă de postmodernism. El nu poate compromite un colind şi nici simplitatea ce străbate din paginile cărţilor Dumneavoastră.” [...] Într-o abordare neutră, aceste creaţii ar putea părea note disparate, schiţate pe marginea albă a unor pagini, ca atunci când, în timpul unei lecturi, te opreşti şi, întors către ale tale, te trezeşti însemnând cuvinte, idei, imagini, cu speranţa de a-ţi vindeca, astfel, sufletul. În timpul unei lecturi sau pe parcursul unei existenţe... Răsfoind paginile cărţii, aşa cum timpul frunzăreşte zilele şi lunile destinelor noastre. Iată ce sunt, de fapt, poeziile Sânzianei Batişte: însemnări de taină pe filele propriei existenţe... Într-un răstimp de „ezitare” sau de „criză”, de nostalgie, recuperate, asumate şi mărturisite în cele din urmă lumii, ca o spovedanie peste timp, pentru anii/ semenii care vin. Şi toate acestea pentru ce? Din ce motive astfel şi din ce motive acum? De ce o face – de ce o mai face? Din egoism? Din orgoliu? Sau disperare? Ori poate din povara conştiinţei acelei „obligaţii fundamentale” pe care orice fiinţă umană o simte faţă de semenii săi (care n-o merită şi n-o vor merita niciodată)... Sau, poate, faţă de Dumnezeu... Să facem un calcul simplist: şaptezeci de „însemnări” (de „răbufniri” lirice) în douăzeci de ani, adică în peste şapte mii de zile... Ar veni un poem la trei luni şi ceva, unul la o sută de zile, trei şi jumătate pe an... Am putea număra versurile, cuvintele, necuvintele. Tăcerile... Urme de lacrimi rămase uitate/ cristalizate peste timp, dintr-un buchet de anemone al vieţii. Păstrând miresmele acelor secunde, zile, jarul acelor şoapte de dragoste, sarea acelor lacrimi, gheaţa gândurilor, nostalgia amintirilor. Iată ce ar putea fi creaţiile poetei din acest volum de „doine şi dore”, de „cântece” unicate în care se răsfrâng, intelectualizat la maximum, doruri şi dureri. Nedumeriri şi, din când în când, speranţe... Însemnări fugare pe filele clipelor/ zilelor, frânturi de viaţă, de suflet sustrase „noroiului” necruţător al timpului („domnind bastard”), recuperate, recreate, îngemănate în buchete de anemone – aidoma pânzelor lui Luchian – dăruite veşniciei. Volumul Odaie sub cer de Sânziana Batişte se impune printr-o consistenţă tematică şi structurală aparte, sensul prim (şi sublim) al lucrării fiind că în această lume dominată de „confrerii bizare/ ierarhii/ neanturi spornice/ urzind hilar” singurele mijloace de supravieţuire şi izbăvire rămân Creaţia şi Iubirea. Iată, aşadar, cele două teme fundamentale ale cărţii. Premiza de la care porneşte poeta: pentru a reînvia într-un nou „poem”, e nevoie ca mai întâi cuvintele „să moară”, astfel, naşterea / înfăptuirea artei putând fi echivalată, practic, cu miracolul învierii. Volumul este deschis de un necruţător Argument, cuprinzând o panoramă acidă a deşertăciunii lumii (condusă de acele „confrerii bizare” şi „ierarhii”, animate de un „demonism scabros”), urmând cele trei secţiuni: Târziu, cuvintele; Edicte; respectiv, Odaie sub cer. [...] Al treilea ciclu al volumului poartă chiar titlul acestuia, Odaie sub cer, cuprinzând 33 de poeme. Titlul ne sugerează o predilecţie pentru spaţiile largi, deschise ale naturii. Tema centrală a poemelor este aceeaşi, iubirea surprinsă într-o multitudine de ipostaze. O astfel de ipostază consideră iubirea un vis al lui Dumnezeu care, „azvârlindu-se în lume”, s-a materializat în bărbat şi femeie deopotrivă, prin iubirea lor Creatorul sfârşind prin a se iubi pe sine, prin a-i fi dor de sine însuşi. Astfel, dragostea dintre bărbat şi femeie nu este decât o materializare a iubirii de sine a Creatorului, deci iubindu-ne, noi înşişi fiind întruchiparea Domnului, îl iubim pe Dumnezeu unul în celălalt: „Dumnezeu – se – doreşte/ De sine însuşi i-e dor/ Dorul dorului fără nume/ Răstignit în trupul cel muritor// Bărbat şi femeie anume” (concluzia ar fi că dacă noi, oamenii, ne iubim, ni-l putem imagina şi pe Dumnezeu fericit – ca să-l parafrazăm pe Albert Camus din Mitul lui Sisif). „Odaia” de sub cer, acest refugiu al solitudinii, se va umple pe parcursul poemelor de diverse elemente definitorii, precum colinele şi cerul (sau „mănăstirea aerului”), izvorul şi marea, spectacolul primăverii ori nostalgiile toamnei, ninsorile şi câmpia îngheţată, bivolii (aceste „certitudini pe patru picioare”), banalele pietre ori cireşele amare. Ca univers intim, ea are o dublă menire, devenind lăcaş al însingurării, în acelaşi timp adăpostindu-ne şi ocrotindu-ne de lume şi de rele în mijlocul unui oraş defilând „în haine strălucitoare”: „Odaie sub cer/ Perdeaua zbătându-se/ Atingând uşor cărţile/ Pe care întârzie o rază fragilă.” Ladislau Daradici
