In the twentieth century, Americans thought of the United States as a land of opportunity and equality. To what extent and for whom this was true was, of course, a matter of debate, however especially during the Cold War, many Americans clung to the patriotic conviction that America was the land of the free. At the same time, another national ideal emerged that was far less contentious, that arguably came to subsume the ideals of freedom, opportunity, and equality, and that eventually embodied an unspoken consensus about what constitutes the good society in a postmodern setting. This was the ideal of choice, broadly understood as the proposition that the good society provides individuals with the power to shape the contours of their lives in ways that suit their personal interests, idiosyncrasies, and tastes. By the closing decades of the century, Americans were widely agreed that theirs was—or at least should be—the land of choice. In A Destiny of Choice?, David Blanke and David Steigerwald bring together important scholarship on the tension between two leading interpretations of modern American consumer culture. That modern consumerism reflects the social, cultural, economic, and political changes that accompanied the country’s transition from a local, producer economy dominated by limited choices and restricted credit to a national consumer marketplace based on the individual selection of mass-produced, mass-advertised, and mass-distributed goods. This debate is central to the economic difficulties seen in the United States today.

Since the day we are born, we are bombarded with the contradictory claims that our lives are predestined and that Fate deals us the cards we must play, or that our lives are the results of our choices and that we shape it as we go along. Destiny vs. Choice examines the philosophical, spiritual, and scientific evidence for both claims, and shows us how we can live better, more fulfilling lives no matter which side ultimately "wins" the debate. Destiny Vs. Choice explores: The historical battle between Fate and free will. Intelligent design, evolution, the Big Bang, and DNA as blueprints for life. The Law of Attraction, intention, and consciousness as ways to create reality. How quantum physics offers evidence for both destiny and choice. Fate and the paranormal: ghosts, life-after-death experiences, and astrology.

How ONE Choice Directs Your Destiny book series reflects the author's feeling towards life and accepting that all things are a blessing especially if we only looked at the situation from a positive perspective. For example, losing a loved one is tough, but you have a choice about that person's life. Do you choose to dwell on the life lost, or do you remember how that person was a blessing in your life? The preference is to remember the great times, but making a decision is the key. In part one of the series, the book reflects the truth about living in a gray zone, or in limbo. A gray zone causes confusion, uncertainty, and living in the unknown where you will learn the truth about you. You will be taught how not to live an indecisive life. In part two, chapters four through six, you will dive into the importance of Trust and how your decisions will reflect upon yourself and others. In this book, How ONE Choice Directs Your Destiny: The Book of Triumph; chapters seven through eight is about your personal Triumph of life. Through your trials and obstacles you have and will overcome anything. A person's life is created by their past, their actions will shape their present, and their choices will dictate their future. Prayerfully, this book and the rest of the series will provide an understanding as to why the eight chapters are separated by three sections: Truth, Trust, and Triumph. This truthful, uplifting, comical, uncommon style of writing was created and all directed by His understanding. This series of books are based on, Mind Interpretation Theory. M.I.T is a biblical based psychological theory that reflects the troubles of persons who struggle with decision making. This theory will assist with helping persons see who they were, are, and will become. This series is not to demean anyone as whom they are, or where they are in life. These books are positioned for one purpose only, which is to share the words that were given and to help people learn, "How ONE Choice Directs Your Destiny!"

It is sensitive to those values pertaining to what can be bought and sold but is blind to others - such as the integrity of the natural world and the quality of human relationships - that cannot be turned into commodities. It is impervious to the costs of tearing apart the larger wholes - families, communities, the biosphere - that are vital to the quality of our lives. While these shortcomings are known to mainstream economics, their vital importance has not been recognized because economics takes too static a perspective. Systematic errors wreak damage over time. The Illusion of Choice, by putting our economic lives in a social evolutionary perspective, illuminates the defects of the market ideology that defends the uncontrolled play of market forces. On the basis of that analysis, this work also provides the outlines of a program by which we can make the market system a better instrument of the full range of human values
