Já passou da hora de falarmos de equidade dentro dos ambientes escolares. Não se trata de incluir crianças e adolescentes, e sim de compreender que todos somos diferentes e, dessa forma, não há como "incluir" alguém em uma sociedade à qual já pertence. É imperioso voltarmos nossos olhares para uma "educação das diferenças". Esta obra, tendo como base teórica as Teorias Pós-Críticas do Currículo, focaliza a problemática de um ambiente escolar hostil em razão do bullying lgbtifóbico e a dificuldade de desenvolver um currículo escolar que dialogue com as diferenças e estimule práticas pedagógicas capazes de romper a heteronormatividade compulsória, a cultura dominante e hegemônica e a generificação das identidades dentro dos espaços escolares. Para tentar compreender possíveis alternativas a esse cenário, a pesquisa, base deste livro, buscou estudar a construção de uma política pública de educação inclusiva LGBT da Escócia, baseada no Scottish Equality Act de 2010 e no Curriculum for Excellence (CfE) escocês. Como objetivo principal, foram consideradas as engrenagens que impulsionaram a formulação de políticas públicas da Scotland's LGBT Inclusive Education, além de serem averiguadas as motivações que incentivaram o Governo da Escócia a aquiescer às 33 Recomendações decorrentes da Time for Inclusive Education (TIE) Campaign 2015, e seus possíveis reflexos sociais. A autora combina, de forma atraente, a experiência pessoal enquanto deficiente visual, portanto, conhecedora dos processos de exclusão no cotidiano escolar, com a formação acadêmica e experiência profissional na área da Psicopedagogia. Para ela, culpabilizar a vítima é uma prática social presente nas famílias, escolas e espaços de convivência, a qual compromete de forma avassaladora a vida de milhões de pessoas desprovidas de autoestima, sem conseguirem corresponder às aspirações de seu entorno. Essas aspirações baseiam-se em modelos e padrões preestabelecidos. Por fim, a intervenção realizada em uma escola de periferia da cidade de Vitória (Espírito Santo) com crianças rotuladas como "não aprendizes" busca refletir sobre as implicações do lugar de pesquisadora-professora, ocupado pela autora, cujas relações foram baseadas no afeto e na apaixonante vinculação com o conhecimento, pautando-se nas interações sociais que produzem e reconstroem os saberes escolares, sobretudo em momentos de atividades em grupo.
