Antibody Production in Man: In Vitro Synthesis and Clinical Implications is composed of the proceedings of the Catharijne Conference on immunology held in Utrecht, Holland on March 15-18, 1978. The conference focuses on the in vitro induction and regulation of immunoglobulin and antibody synthesis by human lymphocytes. It aims to present, analyze, exchange, and criticize data among the different investigators and to attempt to resolve apparent inconsistencies and contradictions. The book first discusses the mitogen- and antigen-induced B-cell activation. It then explains the subpopulations of lymphocytes involved in the regulation of in vitro B-cell function and the clinical implications in the study of in vitro B-cell function. This book reflects the stimulation as well as the frustration during the workshop. It will serve as a small force and focus of direction in this most interesting, complex, and relevant area of human immunobiology.

This book provides a timely review of our current knowledge of the cellular and molecular biology of B lymphocytes. These cells play a key role in the immune system. B cells recognize antigens by means of specific cell surface antibody molecules, and in recent years there has been rapid progress in our understanding of these responses. Considerable advances have also been made in unravelling the regulation of B cell activation by T cells and the cytokines they produce, and how microenvironmental factors determine whether B cells become antibody-producing cell or memory cells. Intended for undergraduates and graduate students in biology and medicine, this work covers new topics and ideas not adequately covered in existing textbooks. It provides in-depth knowledge in an easy-to-read format, with two-color diagrams for increased clarity.

Molecular Biology of B Cells, Second Edition is a comprehensive reference to how B cells are generated, selected, activated and engaged in antibody production. All of these developmental and stimulatory processes are described in molecular, immunological, and genetic terms to give a clear understanding of complex phenotypes. Molecular Biology of B Cells, Second Edition offers an integrated view of all aspects of B cells to produce a normal immune response as a constant, and the molecular basis of numerous diseases due to B cell abnormality. The new edition continues its success with updated research on microRNAs in B cell development and immunity, new developments in understanding lymphoma biology, and therapeutic targeting of B cells for clinical application. With updated research and continued comprehensive coverage of all aspects of B cell biology, Molecular Biology of B Cells, Second Edition is the definitive resource, vital for researchers across molecular biology, immunology and genetics. Covers signaling mechanisms regulating B cell differentiation Provides information on the development of therapeutics using monoclonal antibodies and clinical application of Ab Contains studies on B cell tumors from various stages of B lymphocytes Offers an integrated view of all aspects of B cells to produce a normal immune response

B Lymphocytes In Human Disease written by Angus Graham Bird and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1988 with Medical categories.

During the past two decades, cells of the B-lymphocyte lineage have been the subject of intensive research. B-lymphocytes and antibodies play a crucial role in the body's defense against infection, but can also be responsible for producing certain diseases. This volume provides an up-to-date discussion of the cellular and molecular biology of antibodies and the cells that produce them. Researchers discuss the fundamentals of B-cell biology that are crucial to understanding how cells and their antibody products generate a range of malignant, autoimmune and immunodeficiency disorders. The discussion of human diseases in the second part of the book provides an interface between recent advances in B-cell biology and B-cell related disease processes.

Over the past five years the major importance of cytokines in the regulation of the immune system has become established. This book is the first to review the role of these factors in the control of growth of differentiation of B lymphocytes and thus represents an up-to-date and timely overview of the B-cell response. For the immunologist, there are detailed accounts of the physio-chemical properties of the relevant cytokines and their effect on B lymphocytes from the level of receptor signalling, through ontogeny, activation and proliferation to the expression of specific immunoglobulin isotypes. For the clinician, the involvement of cytokines in disease and normal immune response is discussed.

B Cell Receptor Signaling written by Tomohiro Kurosaki and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-12-26 with Medical categories.

This volume details our current understanding of the architecture and signaling capabilities of the B cell antigen receptor (BCR) in health and disease. The first chapters review new insights into the assembly of BCR components and their organization on the cell surface. Subsequent contributions focus on the molecular interactions that connect the BCR with major intracellular signaling pathways such as Ca2+ mobilization, membrane phospholipid metabolism, nuclear translocation of NF-kB or the activation of Bruton’s Tyrosine Kinase and MAP kinases. These elements orchestrate cytoplasmic and nuclear responses as well as cytoskeleton dynamics for antigen internalization. Furthermore, a key mechanism of how B cells remember their cognate antigen is discussed in detail. Altogether, the discoveries presented provide a better understanding of B cell biology and help to explain some B cell-mediated pathogenicities, like autoimmune phenomena or the formation of B cell tumors, while also paving the way for eventually combating these diseases.
