The Culture Cycle written by James L. Heskett and has been published by FT Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012 with Business & Economics categories.

The contribution of culture to organizational performance is substantial and quantifiable. In The Culture Cycle, renowned thought leader James Heskett demonstrates how an effective culture can account for 20-30% of the differential in performance compared with "culturally unremarkable" competitors. Drawing on decades of field research and dozens of case studies, Heskett introduces a powerful conceptual framework for managing culture, and shows it at work in a real-world setting. Heskett's "culture cycle" identifies cause-and-effect relationships that are crucial to shaping effective cultures, and demonstrates how to calculate culture's economic value through "Four Rs": referrals, retention, returns to labor, and relationships. This book: Explains how culture evolves, can be shaped and sustained, and serve as the organization's "internal brand." Shows how culture can promote innovation and survival in tough times. Guides leaders in linking culture to strategy and managing forces that challenge it. Shows how to credibly quantify culture's impact on performance, productivity, and profits. Clarifies culture's unique role in mission-driven organizations. A follow-up to the classic Corporate Culture and Performance (authored by Heskett and John Kotter), this is the next indispensable book on organizational culture. "Heskett (emer., Harvard Business School) provides an exhaustive examination of corporate policies, practices, and behaviors in organizations." Summing Up: Recommended. Winner of the Readers’ Favorite® silver medal! “Can help your organization create the culture needed to move to the next level of success.”—Marshall Goldsmith, Thinkers50, #1 Leadership Thinker, #1 Executive Coach in the World Culture is the soul of any organization, whether a gas station, church or international corporate powerhouse. A strong culture breeds loyalty, innovation, and success. A weak culture will breed cynicism, apathy, instability, and the eventual demise of the organization. Yet, culture is an often-overlooked aspect of business thinking and strategy. Positive culture can’t be maintained without such critical factors as respect, job satisfaction, involvement, loyalty, shared affection, preparedness to change, and responsibility, which defines the engagement of everyone in an organization. Teamwork, innovativeness, professionalism, accountability, shared vision, and trust form the main asset of any organization, its metaphysical resources. They define the nature of psychological power residing in culture and have direct impact on a company’s performance and achievement of its goals. Whether or not this potential is realized depends on how effectively it is exploited. In this book, a reader will learn what culture is, why it is important and how to fix it when it goes wrong. Leaders, management, as well as employees on the front lines will benefit from the discussion. This book is for those rising above the ordinary every day. “This book is among the most comprehensive, insightful and educational books I have ever read on how to build a world-class culture. This a must read on this extremely critical topic.”—John Spence, Top 100 Business Thought Leader & Small Business Influencer in the USA

Although culture is what gives companies the ability to survive, it is often addressed only after problems have emerged. While it is true that corporate culture cannot be put into numbers, it can be visualized and modeled using the author's Culture Map. The values underlying all corporate cultures are represented in seven colors which combine to form individual patterns. The Culture Map can be used as a basis for successful change and innovation processes, mergers, and integrations. When managers and employees see where they are trying to go, it enables them to take the appropriate decisions and actions. "This is the perfect (work-)book for those who want to know what makes their organization tick and who want to actively sculpt its success." Carina Kontio, Handelsblatt "An extensive introduction to the topic of corporate culture with vivid case studies and graphics. Very attractive design and great visual transfer." acquisa

Like it or not, every business—even one conducted from the kitchen table—is global. No matter the industry, employees now routinely travel to other countries or interact with foreign customers, vendors, or fellow employees. Or they conduct business over the phone, via e-mail, or through video links. As a result, they have to understand international customs and etiquette or risk losing customers or botching business relations. And understanding business customs in other cultures isn't merely playing good defense—it often leads to new products or service enhancements that help an enterprise grow. In Passport to Success, Jeanette Martin and Lillian Chaney apply their expertise in business etiquette, training, and intercultural communications to present a practical guide to conducting business successfully around the world. Each chapter in this book presents in-depth information on the business environment and culture in the top twenty trading partners of the United States: Canada, Mexico, Japan, China, United Kingdom, Germany, South Korea, Netherlands, France, Singapore, Taiwan, Belgium, Australia, Brazil, Hong Kong, Switzerland, Malaysia, Italy, India, and Israel. Chapters contain both practical tips and illustrative examples, and the book concludes with a listing of resources (books, magazines, organizations, and Web sites) for additional information. In addition, Passport to Success contains useful overview material that will help business people plan a trip abroad or a campaign to win customers in another country. Besides trade statistics and information on global trade agreements, readers will find information on using the Internet productively to conduct or seek business, how women can succeed in countries with traditional, male-oriented business cultures, how to build cross-cultural relationships, and ways language can enhance—or obstruct—business dealings. Every businessperson is now a player in the global market for goods and services. This book provides valuable tips that will help people avoid missteps and increase their sales and personal success when dealing with counterparts in other countries.

Inhaltsangabe:Abstract: The aim of this Masters thesis is to explain Chinese business culture. In order to understand why Chinese business culture is different from European or American business culture, for example, it is necessary to know the roots of Chinese cultural values: what is the specific Chinese context which made it possible that China bore its unique business culture? Which specific values are valid in China today? How do they influence Chinese business conduct? This Master s thesis explains the development and constitution of Chinese business culture. Furthermore, with reference to the latest literature about the topic and additional field research in a private company in China, this Masters thesis reveals recent changes in Chinese business cultural values. Because business culture is influenced by variables such as globalisation or the political system, it represents a dynamic value system over the long term. Thus, this Masters thesis updates academic knowledge about this topic. Moreover, it addresses questions that have been raised by academic authors. Whenever I found a remark in literature which raised up an interesting issue for further research, I noted the hint down and included it into my survey. Thereby, I try to add new perspectives to the topic of Chinese business culture. In total, this Masters thesis should therefore be a useful and topical guide to Chinese business culture. How national culture impacts organizational culture—and business success Using extensive case studies of successful global corporations, this book explores the impact of national culture on the corporate strategy and its execution, and through this ultimately business success—or failure. It does not argue that different cultures lead to different business results, but that all cultures impact organizations in ways both positive and negative, depending on the business cycle, the particular business, and the particular strategies being pursued. Depending on all of these factors, cultural dynamics can either enable or derail performance. But recognizing those cultural factors is difficult for business leaders; like everyone else, they too can be blind to the culture of which they are a part. The book offers managers and leaders eight recommendations for recognizing those cultural factors that negatively impact performance, as well as those that can be harnessed to encourage superior performance. With real case studies from companies in Asia, Europe, and the United States, this book offers a truly global approach to organizational culture. Offers a fresh approach to the effects of national culture on organizational culture that is applicable to any country in any region Based on case studies of such companies as Toyota, Samsung, General Motors, Nokia, Walmart, Kone and British Leyland It describes the origins and nature of the most common corporate crisis and how culture impacts the response to such a crisis Ideal for managers, business leaders, and board members, as well as business school students A welcome response to the flat-Earth fad that argues we're all alike, this book offers a nuanced and practical view of cultural differentiators and how they can enable or derail business performance.
