Compressive Sensing For Urban Radar written by Moeness Amin and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-12-19 with Technology & Engineering categories.
With the emergence of compressive sensing and sparse signal reconstruction, approaches to urban radar have shifted toward relaxed constraints on signal sampling schemes in time and space, and to effectively address logistic difficulties in data acquisition. Traditionally, these challenges have hindered high resolution imaging by restricting both bandwidth and aperture, and by imposing uniformity and bounds on sampling rates. Compressive Sensing for Urban Radar is the first book to focus on a hybrid of two key areas: compressive sensing and urban sensing. It explains how reliable imaging, tracking, and localization of indoor targets can be achieved using compressed observations that amount to a tiny percentage of the entire data volume. Capturing the latest and most important advances in the field, this state-of-the-art text: Covers both ground-based and airborne synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and uses different signal waveforms Demonstrates successful applications of compressive sensing for target detection and revealing building interiors Describes problems facing urban radar and highlights sparse reconstruction techniques applicable to urban environments Deals with both stationary and moving indoor targets in the presence of wall clutter and multipath exploitation Provides numerous supporting examples using real data and computational electromagnetic modeling Featuring 13 chapters written by leading researchers and experts, Compressive Sensing for Urban Radar is a useful and authoritative reference for radar engineers and defense contractors, as well as a seminal work for graduate students and academia.

Sparsity Based Multipath Exploitation For Through The Wall Radar Imaging written by Michael Leigsnering and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-02-16 with Technology & Engineering categories.
This thesis reports on sparsity-based multipath exploitation methods for through-the-wall radar imaging. Multipath creates ambiguities in the measurements provoking unwanted ghost targets in the image. This book describes sparse reconstruction methods that are not only suppressing the ghost targets, but using multipath to one’s advantage. With adopting the compressive sensing principle, fewer measurements are required for image reconstruction as compared to conventional techniques. The book describes the development of a comprehensive signal model and some associated reconstruction methods that can deal with many relevant scenarios, such as clutter from building structures, secondary reflections from interior walls, as well as stationary and moving targets, in urban radar imaging. The described methods are evaluated here using simulated as well as measured data from semi-controlled laboratory experiments.

Although the field of sparse representations is relatively new, research activities in academic and industrial research labs are already producing encouraging results. The sparse signal or parameter model motivated several researchers and practitioners to explore high complexity/wide bandwidth applications such as Digital TV, MRI processing, and certain defense applications. The potential signal processing advancements in this area may influence radar technologies. This book presents the basic mathematical concepts along with a number of useful MATLAB® examples to emphasize the practical implementations both inside and outside the radar field. Table of Contents: Radar Systems: A Signal Processing Perspective / Introduction to Sparse Representations / Dimensionality Reduction / Radar Signal Processing Fundamentals / Sparse Representations in Radar

Over the last ten years, the numbers of unmanned air vehicles (UAVs) or “drones” have changed from being just a few specialist systems, used for scientific data gathering and military purposes, to them proliferating in huge numbers. They are used across a broad range of different leisure, commercial and military activities. UAVs can be used for: movement of items in factories for manufacturing, passenger and freight transportation, can take various roles in the agriculture and forestry industries (dispensing seeds, watering and monitoring crops), remote sensing for the oil and gas industries, traffic flow monitoring, support of emergency services, hobbies, security, military and many other applications.

Specialized resource providing detailed coverage of recent advances in theory and applications of sparse arrays Sparse Arrays for Radar, Sonar, and Communications discusses various design approaches of sparse arrays, including those seeking to increase the corresponding one-dimensional and two-dimensional virtual array apertures, as well as others that configure the arrays based on solutions of constrained minimization problems. The latter includes statistical bounds and signal-to-interference and noise ratio; in this respect, the book utilizes the recent strides made in convex optimizations and machine learning for sparse array configurability in both fixed and dynamic environments. Similar ideas are presented for sparse array-waveform design. The book also discusses the role of sparse arrays in improving target detection and resolution in radar, improving channel capacity in massive MIMO, and improving underwater target localization in sonar. It covers different sparse array topologies, and provides various approaches that deliver the optimum and semi-optimum sparse array transceivers. . Edited by a world-leading expert in Radar and Signal Processing and contributed to by world-class researchers in their respective fields, Sparse Arrays for Radar, Sonar, and Communications covers topics including: Utilizing sparse arrays in emerging technologies and showing their offerings in various sensing and communications applications Applying sparse arrays to different environments and obtain superior performances over conventional uniform arrays Solving the localization, beamforming, and direction-finding problems using non-uniform array structures for narrowband and wideband signals Designing sparse array structures for both stationary and moving platforms that produce physical and synthesized array apertures. Using deep neural networks that learn the underlying complex nonlinear model and output the sparse array configuration using representations of the input data spatio-temporal observations Solving for optimum sparse array configurations and beamforming coefficients in sensing using iterative convex optimization methods Providing complete coverage of the recent considerable progress in sparse array design and configurations, Sparse Arrays for Radar, Sonar, and Communications is an essential resource on the subject for graduate students and engineers pursuing research and applications in the broad areas of active/passive sensing and communications.

A long long time ago, echoing philosophical and aesthetic principles that existed since antiquity, William of Ockham enounced the principle of parsimony, better known today as Ockham’s razor: “Entities should not be multiplied without neces sity. ” This principle enabled scientists to select the ”best” physical laws and theories to explain the workings of the Universe and continued to guide scienti?c research, leadingtobeautifulresultsliketheminimaldescriptionlength approachtostatistical inference and the related Kolmogorov complexity approach to pattern recognition. However, notions of complexity and description length are subjective concepts anddependonthelanguage“spoken”whenpresentingideasandresults. The?eldof sparse representations, that recently underwent a Big Bang like expansion, explic itly deals with the Yin Yang interplay between the parsimony of descriptions and the “language” or “dictionary” used in them, and it became an extremely exciting area of investigation. It already yielded a rich crop of mathematically pleasing, deep and beautiful results that quickly translated into a wealth of practical engineering applications. You are holding in your hands the ?rst guide book to Sparseland, and I am sure you’ll ?nd in it both familiar and new landscapes to see and admire, as well as ex cellent pointers that will help you ?nd further valuable treasures. Enjoy the journey to Sparseland! Haifa, Israel, December 2009 Alfred M. Bruckstein vii Preface This book was originally written to serve as the material for an advanced one semester (fourteen 2 hour lectures) graduate course for engineering students at the Technion, Israel.
