Co-production and co-creation occur when citizens participate actively in delivering and designing the services they receive. It has come increasingly onto the agenda of policymakers, as interest in citizen participation has more generally soared. Expectations are high and it is regarded as a possible solution to the public sector’s decreased legitimacy and dwindling resources, by accessing more of society’s capacities. In addition, it is seen as part of a more general drive to reinvigorate voluntary participation and strengthen social cohesion in an increasingly fragmented and individualized society. "Co-Production and Co-Creation: Engaging Citizens in Public Services" offers a systematic and comprehensive theoretical and empirical examination of the concepts of co-production and co-creation and their application in practice. It shows the latest state of knowledge on the topic and will be of interest both to students at an advanced level, academics and reflective practitioners. It addresses the topics with regard to co-production and co-creation and will be of interest to researchers, academics, policymakers, and students in the fields of public administration, business administration, economics, political science, public management, political science service management, sociology and voluntary sector studies.

Digital Governance written by Michael E. Milakovich and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-09-28 with Political Science categories.

The application of digital information and communication technologies (ICTs) to reform governmental structures and public service is widely and perhaps naively viewed as the 21st century "savior", the enlightened way to reinvigorate democracy, reduce costs, and improve the quality of public services. This book examines the transition from e-government to digital governance in light of the financial exigencies and political controversies facing many governments. The chapters concentrate on strategies for public sector organizational transformation and policies for improved and measurable government performance in the current contentious political environment. This fully updated second edition of Digital Governance provides strategies for public officials to apply advanced technologies, manage remote workforces, measure performance, and improve service delivery in current crisis-driven administrative and political environments. The full implementation of advanced digital governance requires fundamental changes in the relationship between citizens and their governments, using ICTs as catalysts for political as well as administrative communication. This entails attitudinal and behavioral changes, secure networks, and less dependence on formal bureaucratic structures (covered in Part I of this book); transformation of administrative, educational, and security systems to manage public services in a more citizen-centric way (covered in Part II); the integration of advanced digital technologies with remote broadband wireless internet services (Part III); and the creation of new forms of global interactive citizenship and self-governance (covered in Part IV). Author Michael E. Milakovich offers recommendations for further improvement and civic actions to stimulate important instruments of governance and public administration. This book is required reading for political science, public administration, and public policy courses, as well as federal, state, and local government officials.

Governance Networks In The Public Sector written by Erik Hans Klijn and has been published by Taylor & Francis this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2025-04-21 with Business & Economics categories.

Governance Networks in the Public Sector presents a comprehensive study of governance networks and the management of complexities in network settings. Public, private, and non-profit organisations are increasingly faced with complex, wicked problems when making decisions, developing policies, or delivering services in the public sector. These activities take place in networks of interdependent actors guided by diverging and sometimes conflicting perceptions and strategies. As a result, these networks are dominated by cognitive, strategic, and institutional complexities. Dealing with these complexities requires sophisticated forms of coordination: network management. This book provides a conceptual framework and analytical tools to study the complexities involved in handling wicked problems in governance networks in the public sector. The book also discusses strategies and management recommendations for government, business, and third sector organisations operating in and governing networks. This second edition of the book is a truly revised edition, incorporating recent developments in network governance theory and practice, such as the influences of traditional and social media on network governance processes. This volume is an essential text for advanced students of public management, public administration, public policy, and political science, and for public managers and policymakers. Practitioners and managers in child protection often struggle to focus on the needs of children and families in the face of ever-expanding bureaucracy. This book brings together authors from across Europe to explore the strategies and solutions that promote doing things right by those in need rather than to the letter of procedure. It argues that more flexible, community/relationship/partnership-based approaches are required to meet the needs of parents and children experiencing difficulties and risk of harm. Essential reading for academics, practitioners, managers and policy makers in social work and child welfare, it contributes to the development of reflective thinking and spotlights the potential of co-production and co-creation.

The approval of the Paris Agreement in December 2015 established a new global regimen in matters of climate change. Similarly, countries from Latin America and the Caribbean participate in and adhere to additional processes regarding environmental sustainability, including the national development of the 2030 Agenda and the Principle 10 / Escazú Agreement. These 3 instruments, among others, recognize the importance of an effective engagement with Civil Society for the advancement and implementation of the environmental sustainability agreements and goals. With this regional diagnostic study, the IDB Group enhances its knowledge in the subject matter with the technical experience regarding citizen engagement. It sheds light on the perspective of best practices employed by governments for the advancement of their environmental commitments with the contributions of Civil Society in Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Jamaica, Mexico and Peru. The study had a methodological framework that identifies, systematizes and analyzes best citizen engagement practices for the advancement of governments’ climate and sustainability agendas. It is structured in 3 chapters: (i) a conceptual framework which guides the reader about the methodology, including relevant definitions for the analysis of best engagement practices; (ii) a section containing best engagement practices in the climate and environmental sustainability agendas for each of the 7 countries of the study, with potential of being replicated in other contexts; (iii) a comparative analysis with recommendations and road maps based in the findings of the diagnostic section
